Madoka held him a bit tighter. "I'm so sorry," he said, his voice smooth, trying to calm the poor boy. He could feel Nathaniel's tears wetting his neck, and he knew this situation was a fragile one. Instead of speaking too much, he just held his lover and let him cry.

  Nathaniel cuddled closer, letting it all out. He didn't talk anymore, just cried. He found Madoka's efforts to calm him nice, and it was working, ever so slowly. After a few more minutes, the boy was able to calm down slightly, taking long, shaky breaths.

After the boy had calmed down, he turned his head slightly and kissed his cheek. "Did your mother say anything else?" he asked, his voice ever-so light. Even he himself, who had regrettably never met Nathaniel's grandfather, felt a deep sadness over the loss.

Sighing lightly at the kiss on the cheek, Nataniel nodded. "Yeah... His funeral is in a few days, and then there's the reading of his will." he answered, before pausing a moment. "She said that I need to come home... But I can't take them by myself, they'll tear me apart..."

Madoka thought for a moment about the idea that came to him. "Nathaniel... do you want me to go with you?" It sounded like a crazy idea, but Nathaniel really needed support at current, and he couldn't let him go to all the way to America to face his horrible adopted family by himself.

The young man pulled back a bit to look at his lover, squinting a bit in the dark. "I-I'd like that... But what about our secret? How would I explain you to them?" Nathaniel asked, tilting his head ever so slightly. He wanted nothing more than for Madoka to come with him, to hold his hand when he needed it, and to kiss him to make it better, but he had no idea how he'd explain it to his family. And there was Vivian to worry about... She'd try to steal him away, he knew that she would.

Madoka gave Nathaniel an unseen worried look. "It... it could be the perfect time for you to tell them," he said quietly. "There's not really a way to lie about this situation..." He could just barely make out Nathaniel's sad eyes, and it pained his heart.

Nathaniel bit his lip lightly. This was true... He was an adult now, and could be involved with who ever he wanted... "You're right. I'm eighteen, and an adult. They can't do anything to me anymore, right?" he asked, lifting his hands to touch his lover's cheeks before leaning forward to press his forehead against Madoka's. "I just don't want my sister to get her hands on you... or my father to do something bad to you. Because you're mine."

Madoka raised an eyebrow in the darkness. "Get her hands on me?" he asked. "I'd never let her do that. And as for your father, I'm a first-degree black belt in karate. Nothing bad will happen to me." He paused and sighed. "I'm more worried for you, Nathaniel."

Nathaniel bit his lip again. Not that he didn't believe Madoka, it was more that he wouldn't put it past his sister to try, just to hurt Nathaniel. And his father was an intimidating man... He;d scare anyone. "Will you keep me safe from them?" he asked, looking into the man's eyes, seeing as they were close together and he could see them. "I'm scared to go back..."

Madoka nodded. "I'll protect you," he said. "I'll make sure they don't hurt you. You don't have to add fear to your grief." He once again hugged his lover close to him. He could feel a lump forming in his throat, but he swallowed it down and exhaled slowly.
If Nathaniel's family was half as bad as what was going through Madoka's thoughts, this trip would be like walking barefoot on broken glass in a house of mirrors, with an axe murderer on the loose... a terribly unpleasant experience with little chance of survival.

Nathaniel felt just a fraction better with that promise and he snuggled into Madoka's hug, wrapping his own arms around the man's torso. "M-My mom and my other three sisters aren't so bad... It's just my dad and Vivian..." he explained, his voice soft. "And... Thank you for being here for me, Madoka. I love you..."

Madoka smiled. "You don't have to thank me for being here," he said in a whisper. "There's nowhere else I'd rather be. I love you, too." He ran his hand over his lover's head and down through his hair, petting him softly. "You should try and get some sleep. We have things to plan in the morning..."

Nathaniel smiled as well, a small one, but a smile none the less. Yawning slightly, he nodded, he was tired especially since he had been crying. "Yeah... We both should."

Madoka took a deep breath, and he let go of his lover for a moment as they both laid down. He pulled the covers over them, and underneath the covers, he pulled Nathaniel into a loose embrace. He leaned toward his lover and kissed him lightly on the lips, just a peck.
