"I'll kill the bears then..." Yep, that's what she concluded. Just as long as the others don't get to me... I should be fine... Getting up from her chair, she stretched slightly. "I don't wanna be the one to wake those two up... perhaps someone who knows them better... and has less of a chance of being attacked should go and get them...?"

Hakuma obviously didn't two them well enough to be interrupting them. "I guess we could just go without them.... maybe leave a note with them.... and a small map to the dojo from here.... I dunno...." Hakuma guessed as he lifted himself from his chair when Anlu picked herself up. He was confident that they'd be able to take them on, the three of them, but he needed to be sure if they would be coming or not.

Stirring from her nap, Mori reluctantly woke up. She felt much better than she had before she fell asleep, which was a relief. Careful of Jon, she sat up in bed, testing her legs with her hands. They held up when she stood up, and she wasn't off balance. The letter from Oberon was on her desk, so she went and picked it up, cutting through the seal with a flick of her claw. Scanning the writing, she was surprised that it was in English, rather than the language of the mountains.
Dearest sister- (Mori restrained a sour smile at the greeting.)
At our meeting in the White Sand Village, it was revealed to me that you were without a betrothed. With a demon of your age, it is necessary that you are blood bonded as soon as can be arranged. As such, I have spoken with the leader of the Dai clan. He has a son who is of bonding age, and is willing to allow this betrothal.
Mori, I hope I do not have to tell you how important this alliance is. The Dai clan is one of the most powerful clans in the region, and our territories come close to overlapping. It would be dangerous to reject his kind offer.
-Your brother Oberon
Crumbling the letter in her hands, Mori fought her fury as it developed. How dare he... How dare he try and plan my life for me? she thought, her mental tone nasty. He didn't even know I existed for twenty years! A low, threatening growl was forming in her throat despite her desperate attempt to fight her anger.

Jon woke to the sound of crumbling paper and a growl. his eyes first went to Mori's bed but soon noted that she was at her desk. Something about her seemed angry, "Mori? Are you ok?" He wasn't sure but he had a feeling that the crumpled paper was the letter and that that was the reason she seemed so angry. "Did you read the letter? What did it say?" Something deep within already knew but he didn't want to admit it to himself, not yet.

Hakuma couldn't help but overhear Jon who seemed to have just awakened from his silence. "I'll check up on them.... don't get surprised if I come back dead...." Hakuma tried to joke as he began to climb the ladder up to the rooms. The more he climbed up the more he realized that it wasn't really a joke. Hakuma stopped just before their room and tried to hear in on them. just by Jon's questioning alone, Hakuma could realize this would be a bad time to speak to them, but right now was the only time he could...

"My older brother is proving to be more of an idiot than I have ever given him credit for," she answered grimly. The half-demon didn't tell him exactly what the letter said, simply because it didn't matter. In her opinion, Oberon had no right to demand for her to marry someone. Besides, she was engaged now to someone who loved her, not to mention that she actually knew who he was. Putting the crumbled letter aside, she pulled out a piece of parchment from her desk and found her favorite pen. Mori had to pause to calm herself before writing back to her brother neatly;
Dear Oberon-
I'm afraid that I will be unable to wed this lord of the Dai's son, simply because I am already engaged to the human, Jon Grave. I will send you more news as it develops, but for now, may the ancestors bless my upcoming marriage to the man I love, as well as your family. I hope that a war is still avoidable between the Xerians and the Dai, and that your family knows peace.
And as a personal note, dear half-brother, dare to try and rule my life for me, and you will not like the consequences. Of that, I can promise you.
Your sister-
Mori Dae
Satisfied with her response, she began to fold the stiff paper to seal it shut. A messenger bird shouldn't be too hard to find. If it was, she could plead a favor from Anlu and have her return to the mountains for a short time.

Anlu was waiting for the monk to lead the way out when she heard a small growl and a tad of rustling. She wasn't quite sure what was going on, but she knew her ears weren't decieving her. With her eyes nearly gone her ears were her most reliable sense. Watching carefull as the monk disappeared up the ladder, she hoped he wouldn't end up dead. "Alright... we'll... wait here..." It wasn't long before she could hear a faint whisper of what was being said. Blushing slightly, she knew it was rude to evesdrop... though... if she could just hear it... without trying to pry... that wasn't really eavesdropping, right?

Jon leaned back and popped his neck slightly, "So I take it that you are rejecting his offer and letting him know what is really going to happen. I mean he won't come here and try to stop our marriage will he? At least not himself, right?" Jon wasn't too sure that he could take the big black oaf if he tried. He just didn't want Mori to anger the big guy.

"I'm most likely going to cause a war between the Dai and the Xerian clans. He'll be too busy," she said matter-of-factly as she produced a small piece of wax from her desk. Mori held it over the flame so it could melt before attaching it to the folds of the paper, setting the sticky substance that would harden when it cooled. When it was just about hard, she found the seal she used, a simple copy of the Dawn Strider's symbol, and pressed it into the soft wax. She set the letter aside to let the wax finish hardening. "If he intends to stop our marriage, which he'll express through a letter before hand, we could always hurry, I suppose, and be wed before he has a chance to get here," she suggested, trying to joke, though sensing that she failed miserably.

Jon nodded in agreement, "I'm sure that the captain would help us. She does care for you so much. Besides we all know that deep down inside she's a hopeless romantic because of that whole curse thing." Jon truly felt sorry for the captain and her love problem. She could never be held or kissed or even let someone have those sort of feelings for her the way that Jon and Mori could because of her father and some sort of curse that killed any chance she had at love.

Anlu sat back down... wishing she had a snack. This conversation, though slightly louder that what a whisper would be to her ears, was getting really good. These two were a soap opera by themselves. Annoying family, a marriage to be, a possible war, friends with problems of their own... they had just about everything... She wondered how it would turn out.

Shaking her head, Mori sighed and walked back to Jon, wrapping her arms around his shoulders from behind and resting her chin lightly on his head. "What curse thing?" she finally asked out loud, raising her head so her chin wasn't digging into his scalp. This was the first she had heard of the captain having some kind of curse on her. For that matter, what could a curse have to do with being a hopeless romantic? Though being told the captain was one of those made her dread the thought of actually sitting down and planning this wedding. Mori sensed that she would have to be quite firm in order to keep the affair simple and understated; neither she or Jon were the flashy, attention-seeking sort.

Hakuma knocked on Jon's open door. "Excuse me, I hope I'm not interrupting anything important..." Hakuma said subtly, making himself present in front of them. He didn't overhear what they were exactly saying but he had a feeling it was definitely important, cause he heard the word 'marriage' "...but I need to talk to you both.... It's an emergency." Hakuma said, scratching the back of his head nervously.

Jon shrugged, "When she was mad at me she informed me that she wasn't allowed to love because of some curse she has or something like that. At least that was what I gathered from what she told me." He had been more worried about Mori at the point in time of the conversation. "She was kind of angry because of all the crap that was happening during the time. I seriously thought she was going to hurt me for leaving you in your room to fall asleep like that." Jon looked up when he saw Hakuma from the port, "An emergency?"

"Yes" Hakuma quickly answered. "My monk's dojo, is filled with dangerous predators.... they killed them all and I need your help in regaining the Dojo." Hakuma tried to explain as quickly as he could so he didn't overstay his welcome into their lives, for they seemed to be busy with their own problems. "I can't do it alone, plus I have Anlu and another Dawn Strider to assist me. I fear that it may not be enough, and I was hoping you'd be able to also assist me in this dilemma." Hakuma added.
