shin nodded and waved slightly in return. Merelii woudl know where to find her when she got back. she had planned on going to see tularie anyway, and she thought a nap was in order, seeming as she hadn't slept decently for two days. she smiled softly to herself, and started down to the dragonesses cave, humming slightly.

"Cymarron loves children because they are pure. they are something we should have been but never got to be. they know nothing of death, hatred, or misery."

He grinned lightly.

"As to your other question of us. Real Love. it is a pain in your heart when they are sad or hurt no matter how slight. it is a misery when you are away from them for an extended time. they occupy your thoughts in sleep and wakefulness, with questions of thier feelings, and what they are doing, and how you can please them. You woudl give your life for thiers, you would damn your soul to see them given salvation."

He was quiet for a moment.

"It is what we do for Nailah. she is an empath, she feels with other's emotion. we have not hunted, because we would not risk her feeling the anger or misery or fear of our prey. those emotions cause her pain. we will not see her hurt."

"So you are chosing what she gets to feel, and why because you can?" Aurora asked the big cat.

Aurora liked his answer, but he seemed to concentrate fully on one side of the relationship, so love can only be felt by one person... Aurora waged her tail nervously, that can't be true... There must be some recipical, some connectivity...

"Do you think that Eclipse loves me? Based on what you have seen, heard or know?" The wolf asked rather devotedly, she wanted to hear an answer, she very much want to hear that Cymarron had been told by Eclipse that Eclipse loved her, but she knew that was very unlikely.

"I love him, so very much, that my heart feels like it is going to explode... But, I don't want him to open his wings to me, and hold me close only because I love him, and he feels nothing for me..." Aurora sat and looked at the ground. "Stupid Eclipse and his benevolent sexy self."

"No you misunderstand. We do not choose how she feels..but we spare her any pain that we can. She is very kind to us, she is going to teach us to read and to write. if we were in that kind of relationship, she woudl do the same for us. she would not want to be without us for a long time, or see us hurt or suffer. we woudl care for eachother, be shelter to eachother when it storms. she woudl be our food, and we her drink. Does this make a better analogy for you?"

He settled down by Aurora for that next one.

"Does he love you? yes, we think he does. is it the romantic love you wish for? no, we do not think so...but we also do not think he truly understands that you love him as you do. we think he believes you are merely...what was the word you used? flirting?"

Elias Murieta was as alwats sitting on that damn couch, but something was a little different this time there was not cigar in his mouth, the fact that his young daughter Esmeralda was sitting on the floor next to this feet more than likely had something to do with it. He smiled at his young daughter as she looked up at him with eyes full of admiration. "So, which we do first?" he said, he was referring to music, in his hands he delicately held a black acoustic guitar, it was a rare specimen, made by hand in Mexico, Elias had held this instrument within since his father had given it to him. Althought the strings had been replaced with newer ones a few times during its lifetime, the guitar still held its old world charm, and when Elias strung a few chords it still resonated of old cantinas where men drank away there sorrows with a bottle of Tequila and a few choice songs.

Young Esmerlada beemed at his father, she loved when he singed, made her feel warm inside, like she was the center of his world. The fact that she was, wasn't really the point she was a kid and often didn't realize that everything that her father did for here was out of love even though sometimes she did not see it as such. For a moment the young Esmeralda sat there on the floor next to her father and seriously pondred the question almost as if she was conering the maerits and downfalls of every song before chosing one. "My song!! SIng my song!!" She giggled as she latched on to her father with the energ and innonce that only shild could master.

Elias Murieta smiled at the young Esmeralda, he knew that she was going to choose that song, but he was happy that she did, it was one of the few songs that Elias had sung to her always, even before she was born she would sing to her inside her mother, I guess the old wives tale, even before they are born they know. Adjusting his position Elias fingers began to move delicately over the instrument, moving gracefully his fingers began to make the guitar come to life and from its wodden mouth sprung the most beautiful music it was slow and enchanting, it had a simple beat but it message was complex, it was about love, love for his daughter, Elias smiled as he opened his mouth and gave words to the tales being spun by the guitar in his hands. His voice was rugged and deep, like the old cantinas in Mexico he sung about love and country:

Dicen de mí
que yo he sido un libro abierto
Donde mucha gente ha escrito
no hagas caso, nada es cierto.

En blanco está
nádie supo escribir nada
no dejaron ni una huella
nadie le importaba nada.

Elias found himself closing his eyes as once more his voice died down and the guiter played it ageless melody about the love of a father to this own flesh and blood.

The guitar continued to be strung as Elias once more opened his eyes and continued with the song as his daughter climbed unto his lap resting her head on his massive chest, lulling herself against the rythm of his slowly beating heart.

Me importas tú
tú si escribes muy bonito
para tí soy libro abierto
escribe en mí, te necesito.

En blanco está
nádie supo escribir nada
no dejaron ni una huella
nadie le importaba nada.

Me importas tú
tú si escribes muy bonito
para tí soy libro abierto
escribe en mí, te necesito.

Elias singing was slow, he knew, the guitar slowed it rythm, coming to and end, the music that it had created trailing off into the distance echoing through the halls of the Archaic Manor, momentarily filling the place with his guitar and his deep rustic voice. Elias looked down towards his child, Esmeralda had fallen fast asleep her small arms wrapped tightly around his massice chest, there was smile on her face as if in her dreams she heard that song. Elias smiled as he gently set down the guitar next to him and sat there is delicately nestling her daughter, Elias found himself cuing as he gently rocked his body back and forth.

Wiedreich was still trying to make sense of the whole manor...and indeed, the whole modern world. Even here, in a gathering place of the ancients, he had seen strange devices that had inspired him with fear and wonder; and though he did not understand them fully, he knew that in these contraptions, the seeds of greed and hate, the seeds of the bane of mankind, existed. He had seen his race fall with the advent of guns; when traitors sold the secrets of the new weapon to the outside barbarians, and the country was plagued by civil war, one of the wisest and most powerful peoples of the earth was expunged from its face. He had been cursed by a witch so that he would live for many centuries, but over time, all he loved would eventually be lost.

When he had nothing left to live or love for, he would be granted the respite of death. After 864 years of wandering the lost areas of the world, he had taken refuge with the Mexica, descendants of the Toltecs, of Aztlan. In living among them, he found the joy that the witch told him he would lose. He tried to forget it all there. The Mexica made him king, calling him "Quetzalcoatl", plumed serpent. But he was only able to live for a few years among them before his past came back to him...he sensed a great shadow, coming from the east, to destroy his people. The prophets began to speak of the doom of the Empire...Wiedreich could no longer find joy in watching the ball games, visiting the market, hunting deer or handling riches. His only comforts were the bitter songs of the poets. Knowing that doom was not far from his door, he kept himself in his old palace, never being seen by his subjects, gazing into obsidian mirrors and hoping that all his life had been a mere dream, from which he could easily wake up. No longer able to stay and not wishing to hinder the Empire's well being by inaction, he disappeared, partly because of the hate held by some of his subjects and the hereditary king, promising to return someday.

He only kept part of his promise. He returned several years too late; a Conqueror had already taken Wiedreich's place. He saw what had become his people be destroyed by deceit of the conqueror and the deadly weapon, the gun.
The last words he had heard from an Aztec mouth were these...
"Nothing but flowers and songs of sorrow are left in Mexico and Tlatelolco, where once we saw warriors and wise men.
We know it is true that we must perish, for we are mortal men. You, the Giver of Life, have ordained it.
We wander here and there in our desolate poverty. We are mortal men. We have seen bloodshed and pain where once we saw beauty and valor..."
Flowers and Songs of Sorrows by an Aztec poet ((yes, really)).

Wiedreich remembered these words with bitterness and a strange, almost satisfying feeling.
He had lost his purpose...all he had to live for...was this manor, a fragment of old times in ancient lands, a fragment which he could not afford to lose.
Joe Wiedreich stepped outside, sat down against a tree trunk, and fell asleep.

Elias Murieta slowly opened his eyes, the gentle rocking of his daughter had put him to sleep as well. He could not help but smile as he looked down at this daughter's sleeping form. He saw so much of her mother in her, he sometimes had to bite his lips till they bleed to keep from crying about it. His own stupid mistakes had cost him so much over the long years in which he had traveled this world. He had seen so much both the good at the bad, loved many women. In the end he was never as happy as he was now, he had his daughter in his hands, that was a miracle unto itself, he thought that he had lost her all those years ago in Mexico along with Magdalena his wife. He rose slowly from the chair in which he had been sitting careful not to stir the sleeping Esmeralda. He ran his fingers delicately through her long raven black hair, how many nights had he spent doing that very same jester to his wife? He longed once more for those simple comforts, was that why he had now found himself so attracted and almost insanely desperate to have Naliah? When he had been immortal Elias didn't care, he had slept with a different woman almost every night, didn't really care who they were, he just wanted a warm body in his bed. He had spent nearly a decade underneath the ground, where he had buried himself next to his wife's decaying corpse. Hoping that somewhere somebody would take pity and end his life. When finally he had risen from the ground he had wanted to drown his sorrows in nothing more than Tequila and cheap easy women, but soon even that grew tiresome. He wandered the world, desperately looking for an answer, looking for a way to see her again, to see his beloved Magdalena again, he wanted death but found it not.

Elias made his way into his bedchamers, and lay his daughter down to sleep on the delicate black sheets of his bed. For a moment Elias simply stood there completely entraced with the innonce of Esmeralda's sleeping form. In his studies Elias came across rumors of a place, where gods and mortals met, where the thunderings of the ancient world could still be heard. He spent the better part of five years looking for that place, and eventually found it. Inside the Archaic Manor he had meant great allies, the Sir Saradin, who saw Elias die, and come back, only to he himself die and loose all knowledge of the bond of spilled blood that they shared. Here he had met the wise elf, Nelphean, who like he had an unnatural addiction to the female form in all it's glory. Alas, even he had meant with tragedy, and was forced to face his demons. But in the end he had found love, in the arms of the exquisite Lady Bastet once a housecat given human form as nothing more then a joke. Yes, it seemed that even the noble Saradin who had lost almost everything had gained the greatest treasure of all, the undying devotion of a woman, the equally noble Lady Aura, the matriach of this Archaic Manor, she once a slave to a merciless Praoha and now a Prahoah in her own right.

Elias silently closed the door behind him as he slowly began to make his way around the manor, his mind still swarming with the countless thoughts that plaqued him. Elias looked up and smiled, why was he not surprised that even without thinking he had made his way to that door. He door which inside the Lady Naliah slept. Elias ran his fingers along the finely crafted wood of the door. "Lady Naliah, how this fool longs to be in there with you, to loose himself in all that you are." he said as he silently kissed the door.

Elias continued once more in his wanderings, taking another moment to gaze at Naliah's door, as he wandered through the manor he once again found himself sitting at that chair, it had become saturated with the smells of his cigars,"Don't hate too much Lady Aura" Elias smirked as he took a seat in the chair, and once more let his ind wander to thoughts of Naliah, and once more he became to question himself.

Was this really love that he had for Naliah, or was simply a fear of being alone. A fear of dying without ever really knowing what love is like? Naliah reminded him so much of his beloved Magdalena, was this the reason for his recent infuation with her? Or was it something more, something real? And who was he to know of love? A man who new nothing more than the adoration of the body, of the pleasures and the pains that mindless sex and drinking brought. Elias was naive in the ways of love, but was certain of one thing, love was not sex, how many woman had he conquered without ever caring about them. Who knew how many children he had sired, but that had not been love, it had been actions brough out by despartion and nothing more. He had no way of knowing what it was the he felt for Naliah, was it the infant stages of true love or merely a want to run his fingers through her hair and lips across every crevice, every fleshy mound, every scar, every imperfection on her exposed ebony skin.

Elias's heart ached to know this answers, but knew also that he would unless it was with her, they needed these answers out together. But first she had to make, and Elias understood perfectly well why she hesitated to make, she who had her heart broken by so many before, by that monster Voladu and others that Elias had never met. Elias himself had broken the heart of many young girls, whispering sweat nothing in there ears, weaving tales of hapiness and marriage only to get under there skirts. Perhaps this was fate way of punising him, he a man who swore to die before he fell in love again, had fallen for a girl that he may never have.

As Elias sat there pondering all these things and more, his eyes became heavy with sleep. "Naliah, why must I love you so?" Elias whispered as he finally to the sleep of exhaustion.

Aurora looked at the Cat, and tilted her head, "That would make sense." She sighed, and bowed her head, "I am sorry..." She didn't know what to say, she only a few months old, and already the world had become a hellish adult place.

"Thank you for your time, but I must be going. I will talk to you more sometime..." Aurora barked slightly, and vanished into thin air, the sound of her wings brushing up against some of the nearer objects could be herd, but nothing else.

Sitting by the lake, the elf's mind wandered through all his thoughts and memories. He looked upon the water with troubled eyes, he was alive, and mostly well... But to what end?

since he had arrived, Nelphean found himself drawn to combat, as though no other purpose in life existed. He found Au"Rakka" alive and well, but she didn't remember him... Which was both a blessing and a curse...

"To lose all those memories would have saved her misery, but has left me with nothing more than a dream within a nightmare." Nelphean rippled the water with his toughts.

"Corellon, please help Rakka find her peace, for I could not." The elf smiled at his reflection. Rakka never saw Nelphean wear clothes, the elf himself admitted that with them on he looked much more comforting, less tormented by whips. His eyes traced his form on the water, and fell upon his mask, his hood and scarf. Nelphean wondered what Rakka would have thought of him dressed this way, hiding his face from the light, hiding his face from the people around him... Nelphean sincerely believed that she would not have been surprised... "How would you dress, given the choice?" The elf mused at the reflection, thinking about the clothes that Rakka had told him about, "Perhaps you would have worn a scarf too, to hid from faces who would look upon you with awe, and hate..."

How would the manor have treated Rakka?

Nelphean remebered his reception, and his welcome, and his invitation to stay... Everything seemed to fall into place, with him a shadow, and Nelphean a light. Nelphean through a stone at the water, shattering his reflection. He hated his father, his brother, Nelphean hated the elf who could have saved Rakka, who could have resqued her as all her loves did not... Nelphean watched as his reflections re-took its shape, he smiled upon the water, and swore that no one shall ever be prisioner again...

"Who am I to make such promises?" He asked his reflection, which seemed to reply Rakka's friend.

"You know of the last time I loved so deep." She sighed and stared off into oblivion. "There were others but none so true, none that felt as right as you." Or him. The past haunted, the past clung, but never again should love's end be sung. She felt very rhyme inclined today. One shake of her head, ok that had to stop right now. Bastet looked into Nelphean's eyes, "Too much life crammed into one head."

"I wonder what awaits me, as I shall never die until steel finds my flesh, or the bite of flames claims me." Nelphean was almost immortal, but all creatures had a tendency to die at some point.

"If you were not meant to live such a long eventful life, you would have died." That wasn't very encouraging, "Fate does exist, as you see I am dead, or not."
PostPosted: Sat Mar 26, 2005 2:19 pm

She laughed, "I would have died. So now I am to believe that my time could soon be over and I shall die? Cheerful, or maybe this is just a lesson of some kind." Her thoughts came to her randomly, just whatever she pulled up. "I doubt steel will find your flesh or flames will completely claim you soon. I have always been wary of fate. If everything were predetermined, then what is the point to any of it?"

"Becasue the gods like to watch us live out their plots, and the yenjoy the things that we can have because of it, love, fear, anger, compassion... They are jealous of us because we can feel so many thigns, when they can not." Nelphean held Bastet closer to him, "Bastet, Are you afraid that you are going to die?"
