Field Report:
To the Desk of "Astral Samurai"
Our ODM expedition across the border has yielded about the same results we'd expected. Monster saturation is the highest it's ever been, even in areas far from urban centers. As I assumed, the SG reports are skewed all to hell. Truth be told, I'm afraid of what numbers we're going to find east of the frontier border.
I'm still waiting on informants from other sectors to report in. But even without the rest of the estimates, I'd say we have a hell of a job ahead of us. It'll be nice to not deal with the bureaucracy for a change, though. Just like the old days.
Also, our freelance status may finally bring their MSU Containment Initiative to the surface, and I'd very much like to see what's been cooked up there. Compare some notes.
I'm reasonably certain that the parties involved wish to contain each of us alive for purposes of study.
Immortality is still, apparently, very valuable.
Unfortunately, if that is their goal, they're much more likely to find successful methods than if they were trying to actually kill us.
Dale has been confined to his lab until we can find an effective method for keeping his magics from being tracked. He's working on some mystical methods in the meantime. I've got a few items in the workshop that might do, but they need to be scaled down if he's expected to operate in the real world without looking like he's wearing a Proton Pack.
I'm sending schematics for those along in a seperate file, if you have time to work on them I'm sure he'd appreciate it.
I'll be working on an inventory of our own equipment along with a Base system analysis over the next day or so. You might want to ask the other operatives to submit their own inventory lists so we know what all we have to work with, in case things get bad.
As far as we know, the Shadow Government doesn't have our exact location. We never invited any outside agents here, and Ted wiped the X-Com records years ago. We should have the only copies. But that doesn't mean they're entirely clueless.
