Find a wiki, or rather found a wiki, just like wikipedia but somewhat private so we can put our own stuff on it, stuff like information about the world of AoS and how stuff works in it. http://aos.wiki-site.com/index.php/Main_Pageright now I'm filling in some structure'n stuff, not a bunch of data. I got a naming problem, in magic I've got two main types at the moment, instant and cast, instant is stuff that just has to be triggered, takes a matter of seconds to start, like maybe a spell that slices a tree down, then cast spells is stuff that needs the whole chant & dance plus maybe some other stuff, like what witches do. I dont thing the name cast works, you got any ideas? then on the magic page I've also got a bunch of different fields of magic, I think I may drop most of them. ( http://aos.wiki-site.com/index.php/Magic )

( http://aos.wiki-site.com/index.php/Magic ) Well, this may seem ridiculously simple, but how about Enchantments? So we'd have Instant spells and Enchantment spells....or if you don't like that, I'll search my brain some more...

seems like an enchantment would be lasting magic cast/attached to an object.
Simple is fine with this stuff, we don't need to go reinventing the magical wheel, just define which of the plethora of magical systems we use

Well, how about we just call it Magic, and then separate Instants as a different branch that's harder to use...like make Instants take more discipline and whatnot, while regular Magic is your common, run-of-the-mill stuff...and takes more time. That would differentiate it from Cards too...

thats genius, and logical, the best kind of genius.
so like, anybody with a bit of training can chant a spell for three hours while hopping on one leg, but with experience the song and dance become less important, to an extent at least, complicated stuff would still need some, In the morning I shall restructure the magic page.
G'night.

Alright...we've decided to name the cat people Korat...so what do you think about using that as a root for the Jungle?? Like maybe Korian Jungle or something like that... we'll have to be careful not to use Koran or anything too close, cause that's like a religious text...lol...which would be bad. Any thoughts???

lily564a the aces are like gods, the joker is above them, the joker is not human in any way, the ultimate force in the universe, it can do anything, with no limitation, more though the joker is a check against the aces, in a way making them play fair since with their powers they are invincible against their own suit. maybe also the joker is there to keep things interesting, but also the joker is, in true knowledge, nothing more then legend magic in next post Are there not commonly two jokers in a deck? Would this not make things more interesting? Two powers that see over the four suits. The lower cards in the struggle in between them. Also...Ok we are stretching but hear me out it might at least get you thinking. As far as I can see the cards themselves are a bit of a mystery. The power they symbolize everything that makes up this world. There are even powers that can completely redefine the world it's self. Yet to access such a power is seemingly unheard of. With me so far? You say that one could only cast from a single suit. Understandable, no one could handle that much power. That is unless they understood the source in it's entirety. You could argue that each suit is so very different that attempting that feat would be suicide. A diamond is a diamond and a club is a club. What would you say to the notion of a rule card. Yes like the ones you find in a deck that teaches you how to play. Using more than one card is so difficult because you simply do not understand the rules in which are in play. Amazing would it be if a character came in contact with a card that did nothing, yet was the key to everything. Perhaps an evil genius would see that the legend card is far more precious than any he has ever witnessed. With it one can learn how to mix the power of the cards together. With that power unfathomable things can happen. Perhaps even the creation of a new world. OR a way to open the gates of ever lasting life. Then again it's just a thought. smile

lily564a as its still a work I'm just gonna dump what im thinking in here, so i dont forget. the world: its called Keis pronounced Key-ehs, the planet is a punch of islands, most between the size of cuba and a small house, with three larger ones, one polar two equatorial, one of which is desert, only inhabited becuase it has a lot of mineral resources, the other tropical, the polar one is obviously covered in snow, only a single tribe of people that dont interact with the outside world. the majority of the world is tribal or small towns with no real wide government or large church, local is the biggest ether gets, this is becuase of the seas the seas are very shallow just about everywhere on the entire planet, large ship are very limited, so trade is also very limited, though the people have become quite good at moving small stuff, and people very fast. the level of the worlds technology is ... primitive, sailboats and millstones. no guns, but there is gunpowder, its new, dont expect much. Being that it is a planet made mostly of water and small islands boats have received a lot of attention and are the single most advanced thing on the planet. there is magic; its not the same as the cards, and its much more difficult to get the same amount of power using it, but its easier to get specific power. incantation is not necessary but helps inexperienced users, this goes for both magic and the cards (cards can be called by their value|suit or their name, learning the cards name increases its power by a lot but this is especially difficult) on the subject of cards first off, a character does NOT have to have or use cards, and may start at any time although it should go without saying, if a character has cards he or she does not have to use them. a character can only summon one suit of cards a character's native suit, weather you start with cards or not (unless stated otherwise) is randomly chosen. - to pick it generate a random number between 1 and 20; even numbers below 11 are hearts, odd numbers below 11 are diamonds, even numbers 11 and up are spades, odd numbers 11 and up are clubs ( finalized in Character thread) - new cards (3-k) will be gained in two ways summoning and necessity; both of which are partly controlled by crew, they decide if a character has any chance of summoning a new card, and what that chance is, then the character has to get a random number in that range; for necessity crew will give cards, no chance involved, to a character they think is ready; there does however need to appear to be some sort of triggering event to jerk that card into existence, a character cant just be walking down the street and have a card poof into existence at their feet. the event doesnt need to be physical. cards come in the standard four suits, hearts spades clubs and diamonds the most powerful of each is the ace, of which exists only one, the rest of the cards are unlimited Each suit has a specific type Hearts deal with health, life, and body Clubs deal with the mind Diamonds deal with the elements, and forces of nature (this includes plants and animals) Spades are weapons, their materialized form is a weapon, whatever power they give to the character is a weapon all cards have some sort of materialized form I'll continue in another post About this world. Would I expect any slum like atmospheres? You know like Alcohol, crime and prostitution?

They wouldn't be direct players but could influence everything. This is definitely something to consider. The rules card sounds like it might be too dangerous to the RP.

Gorenza About this world. Would I expect any slum like atmospheres? You know like Alcohol, crime and prostitution? Of course, Rinon probably has one, we haven't put it in specifically yet but now that you mention it we should think about that.

I would appreciate it. My character would mostly be depended on those kind of surroundings. Otherwise my back story would be boring, hence, the character would be boring. My Rp style depends of a well driven character. When the Dm, GM or what ever rules over us all doesn't produce enough motivation for my character to act his background is critical.
I was toying around with the names; Serrah Leon and "The Wet Flask" As one could be a slum city and the other a bar.

I am not so much suggesting that the Jokers can be obtained. To me they seem like the mischievous versions of Ying and yang. There would be no controlling them but manipulation could be a positive story idea. The rules card might sound that way. Think of it like Pandora's box. It may take a very long time for it to be opened. Every one is dieing to learn the secrets. When the Rp is ready we can take the step. The existence of the card is not a threat until you present it as one. It brings with it a depth of discovery and endless more ideas for study.
