Marc flipped his head back, clearing his vision of hair, and appeared to see nothing in front of him. He heard Vidar's accent and his broad sword aimed straight up at his diving attacker. Arial assaults were original for normal creatures, but when those with wings try it, everything usually goes as expected. Marc braced his feet for impact as he cleverly worked his hands to split his broad sword into its two halves. He hoped his blades could redirect Vidar's sword fast enough to allow himself a rapid counter.

Marc wondered how many more of the celestial's were around, and if he would have to fight many more. That is, if he survived this bout.

Like a flash the blade appeared from behind Vidar's back, and Marc saw it coming. A choice had to be made. He either would take the knife wound in order to increase his chance of his counter, but later having another wound to slow him. Or he would have to deflect the knife and only have a chance to block Vidar's main blade. Marc made his decision, he quickly deflected the knife to still see Vidar racing at him. Waiting for the right moment, Marc then launched himself up at Vidar with his two blades out in front of him in order to see if he could get the kill, or at least get the fight back on the ground.

Marc was accustomed to the impact, it never slowed him down. The sharp hit of steel on steel and the vibration that followed only drew Marc's focus more towards the fight. Vidar's moderately impressive acrobatic skills, and his comment, only proved to him that celestials were too cowardly to hold their own in a fair fight. Marc landed on the ground, knees only having to bend slightly, his weapons to his side and out in front of him.

Marc bared his fangs, "You can try, like hundreds of other fools before you, and die." He stared deep into the eyes of his enemy, "Or you can flee with the rest of your house." Marc twirled his blades swiftly to adjust his grip. "But I would rather just end you now."

Light on his feet, Marc sprinted at his foe. One blade aimed for Vidar's sword arm, while the other drove for Vidar's sword.

Marc finally did see that Vidar had some battle experience, but not enough to worry him. He did not have to say much in order to make the celestial scowl, or for Vidar to bleed. Marc saw his blade slice through Vidar's shoulder with ease after his other was met. The next part of Vidar's attack Marc did not see at first, but was able to react quickly enough to it. Using his own momentum toward Vidar, Marc dropped after the glance of a hit and slid across the roof. Before passing underneath Vidar, Marc managed to get his blades in front of him to either tear at the back of his enemy, or fend off any ensuing attack.

It would not be over-confidence that would be Marc's downfall, but a skilled opponent that far surpassed him on his best day that meets Marc on his worst.

((I think it fits alright in terms of the character's current state.))

In the time it took Marc to blink, his blades already passed through Vidar. He slid a little further than desired due to the slickness of the roof. Marc quickly sprang back onto his feet to face his even more injured opponent. It was not only rain that dripped from Vidar, but his blood as well. Marc could tell from the haggard stature of his foe, and the even more paled complexion that his counterstrike hit true.

'It is not over yet, but soon,' Marc thought. Wasting no time, he charged at the weakened Vidar. Marc hoped to draw his opponent's defense towards the already injured weapon arm with a accurate feint, and parry Vidar's counter, if any, with a solid strike on his torso.

((I was getting to like him too.))

As soon as Marc felt the solid block on his first blade, he managed to plunge his second deep within Vidar. Letting go of the handle, Marc too stepped back a few feet from the wounded celestial. He took a moment to eye Vidar's own blade. Marc would add it to his collection back at the mansion once the day was over. He saw Vidar grasp the handle to the weapon that did him in.

Marc said nothing in response, he just nodded his head slightly and went to stand in front of Vidar. Switching his remaining blade into his right hand he said the last words that Vidar would ever hear, "Now may your soul be at rest." In one fluid motion Marc snatched his stuck blade, freed it, and decapitated the celestial.

The vampire's final words twisted themselves softly around the defeated celestial, the barest hint of a smile gracing his bloodied visage. His final thoughts were of his kin, hoping that they would triumphant in the face of his own defeat. A barely audible metallic clink announced that the blade was free, and that Vidar's end was swift at hand.

"May you one day stand where I am," Vidar managed to breathe, some semblance of his cockiness returning, before the blade struck it final blow. Blackness clouded the warriors mind, his deadened limbs slowly succumbing to their fate as the celestial descended slowly to the cold bricks beneath him.

Rivulets of crimson blood mix freely with the water that had collected in puddles upon the roof top; a serene expression gracing the features of Vidar"s severed head as it rolled freely from his neck.

Raze shot an irritated glare to his fellow lycan, although it had more to do with his loathing at having to bring Shane with them rather then the lycans apparent lack of stealth skills. Turning his attention back to the target, the burly lycan frowned as he noticed the path in which Michael was headed. The entrance to the Budapest subway loomed bright and bustling before them. Humans, dozens of them, were hurrying in the same direction; seeking a refuge from the downpour.

The audience would make things difficult, and the lycans would have to exercise caution to ensure they didn't raise any unnecessary alarm before them were able to procure the target. The dark-skinned lycan increased the pace of his steps, closing in upon their human target.

The scene had transpired before Phoenix even had a chance to register what exactly it was that was taking place. Seraphina was a mere blur to his eyes as she flew swiftly across the sky-scape, her willowy form descending before him and into the path of the blazing projectiles. He opened his mouth to cry out in alarm, his muscles readying themselves for the course of action upon which his mind would settle. But it was too little, too late.

For a moment everything was silent, as if the moment had been frozen by some magician's spell. Phoenix watched as the face of his love contorted into an expression of sheer pain, while the azure of her eyes seemed tinted with something much stronger and lasting then pain. His ears were assaulted with the slick and sickening sound of the bullets penetrating her pallid flesh and whatever else lay beneath her skins exterior.

Time seemed to regain its usual continuum then, Seraphina's form rocking backwards from the force behind the bullets. Her body was soft and gentle as it impacted into his, lifting his feet from beneath him and sending the pair tumbling into the alley to their rear.

When they came to a rest she was in his arms, crimson blood flowing freely from the wounds that had interrupted the milky perfection of her skin. It was warm and thick as upon the palms of his hand as he tried in vain to still the bleeding. As the moment ticked on his angel's skin continued to grow paler, his panic growing as Seraphina's paleness increased.

'This isn't happening, this can't be happening' he told himself, his mind reeling as he struggled to comprehend everything that was taking place.

With Seraphina nestled within his arms, he rose to his feet as if she weighed nothing at all. He knew his kin were within the plaza somewhere, probably concealed within the lofty heights of the surrounding buildings, and thus knew that there must be some transport located within a close distance. The vampire held little doubt that his kin knew of his presence also, as well as the events that had taken place below them. With his thought in mind he followed the alley's continuation as it snaked away from the plaza and into the backstreets of central Budapest.

To those who were not looking, it would have been easy to miss the dark vehicles contained within shadows in a discarded lot, but Phoenix was able to locate them with ease. One of the motorcycles proved to be the logical choice, both because it was faster and because it would not leave his kin stranded within the city after sun-up.

Setting Seraphina down gently, he set to work upon the bike. He didn't have keys, but he had picked up a few tricks during his three hundred year existence that made the use of keys obsolete, and it wasn't long before the engine roared to life. Picking up his injured partner, he ensured she was safe within his embrace before heading swiftly in the direction of the manor. While Malek's apartment was closer, the vampire had little idea as to whether the building held the facilities to heal Seraphina.

Soon the city was a blur of lights behind him, the mass of encroaching buildings giving way to the gentler countryside.

Hold on, he repeated within his mind as he raced back toward the manor.
