Kuuza hadn't expected Seplaverta to charge at her, what with Rael on the offensive at the Druid. Still, though, she was prepared for the hawk to attack and her eyes flashed silver upon stone-grey. Enlarging the claws on her hands to more draconic proportions, she clapped them in front of her, trusting her dragon's bloodright to manipulate the air.

True to her thoughts, the wind shot towards Seplaverta in a nearly invisible shock wave that, had it been on the ground, would have knocked out a good portion of a forest. It wasn't on the ground, though, so unless it hit something through the air, nothing but clouds would be affected.

Snarling her defiance, Kuuza's eyes grew more slitted and red seemed to tinge the outer ring of grey in her eyes. Folding her wings, she dropped to the sandy ground and then released the pent-up magic in a circle around her. Anything within a fifty-foot radius from the ground up would be hit full-on by a veritable battering ram of pure magic.

The blast of wind slammed into her and she fell towards the ground, shifting into a hawk moments before she hit the ground. The battle was not going well for her. She attempted two attacks, and two counterattacks followed with painful results.

She couldn't fight like this.

What could she do? Both had stunning reaction times to her attacks, and she couldn't get more than a few swipes, or none at all, at either of them before being beaten back. She didn't know what to do. Wincing at the aspect of defeat, she continued on, yet stayed back. Frontal attacks were doing her no good. With the little magic in the air, Seplaverta called upon the colors of the earth. The earthly colors seeped onto her, making her nearly impossible to see. She shifted forms, and stealthed around, knowing that staying still could be a deadly mistake. She kept moving, the colors on her changing to match the surrounding earth, until she was nearly behind her unsuspecting opponent.

Rael, on the other hand, was on full form. She was buoyed up by her successful counter-attack on Seplaverta, and luckily had risen joyfully up above the wave of magic Kuuza had conjured. She blinked a few times, feeling the after effects of the powerful attack, then spread her wings and hovered, shaking her head. Now she couldn't see Seplaverta, and that bothered her. She narrowed her eye, silently commanding her shades to seek out the Druidess. They began to blunder among the roots, slightly inhibited, but determined. Rael watched from above, holding the now white Orb tightly.

{Well, I've coaxed little Seplie into submission, and now Lady Rael is a bit hesitant} Kuuza smirked, and she began to harness the battle magic within her. No need for incantations or rituals here - it was simply direct conversion upon thought, rather like alchemy.

Breaking into a full-frontal charge, Kuuza spread her arms back and silently commanded the air to change its form. Gladly, the existence shifted from a peaceful, breathy one to a dangerously impotent, heat-blasting inferno of magical, blue fire.

Releasing with uninhibited abandon, Kuuza shot the pillar of fire directly at the airborne Rael.

Seplaverta

Kuuza dashed forward, eliminating Seplaverta's chance for her surprise attack. She growled ever so quietly, but then wished she hadn't. One of Rael's shades picked up on the sound and wandered towards her. Carefully, she hurried away from the on-coming being, turning slightly to head more towards the battle. She evaded further detection from the shade and continued to stealth around. She felt almost cowardly staying hidden, but she had taken enough damage for now. It was her time to stay back and observe the fight. Time to recover. Time to watch.

Time to wait for any weakness Rael or Kuuza might show.

[Ech! Still getting over the wild partying this weekend offered. Now everyone's attacking me! *stress*]

Rael hardly had time to think before the pillar of fire made its destructive way towards her. She caught her breath, tensed her muscles, and called up a gust of wind from the latent power inside the Orb. She gritted her teeth and sent it against Kuuza's fire, successfully diverting the bulk of it. Whirlwinds blustered around her and she managed to manipulate the wind enough as to direct the fire towards the ground, to where she had seen one of her shades blunder after an unseen foe.

"Ah!"

But unluckily she was struck by an errant tongue of fire. Burns spread up her arms and wings and she cried out, spiraling towards the ground in an attempt to keep her flight under control.

Kuuza was quite satisfied - she had managed to c***k away part of Rael's guard and had strengthened Seplaverta's. For now, it was time to withdraw.

While both appeared to be distracted with their problems, Kuuza quietly melted away into the shadows of the Forgotten Ship.

Seplaverta was long gone from the area in which Raels shade had detected her. Instead, she was heading quickly to the expected crash site of the falling girl. Rael was spiraling to the exact spot Seplaverta had predicted. With her in such a vulnerable, chaotic state, her defenses would surely be down.

Seplaverta prepared, then leaped with a ferocious feline strength straight for Rael as she neared the ground.

This attack should do it... I hope.

Ground, sky, ground sky, ground, sky. That was all Rael could see for the time being - just ground, sky, ground, sky, Seplaverta, sky... Rael twisted her body and tried to open her wings, frantically trying to stop her fall. Charred feathers fluttered from her beating wings, and she grimaced at the pain. With an almighty effort, she managed to right herself, but crashed into the ground with a sickening thud.

She looked up, and then Seplaverta landed on her. Time to make ma proud, she thought. She struggled to her feet under the lioness's [?] weight, and her claws extended. Thank the gods these still worked. She hadn't taken advantage of her Neko-Hanyou blood in quite a while. She dug her claws into the lioness' back, grappling with the heavier being for freedom.

Though she had wanted both to develop their killing instinct - people couldn't be Clan if they didn't want to fight for Clan - Kuuza thought it might have gone too far when Rael laid on the ground, motionless. After seeing the sorceress's transformation, Kuuza silently breathed easy.

Perhaps she would end this fight soon.

Seplaverta

Seplaverta roared in annoyance. How could she still stand and fight? Seplaverta wretched away from the nasty claws Rael had unsheathed and struck back. She ripped across Rael's back. How's that feel? she thought angrily. Rael would not win. She couldn't.
She wouldn't let her.

Rael's vision was blurring, and her vivid yellow eyes were beginning to unfocus. She winced in pain as Seplaverta viciously slashed her back, and hunched, trying to catch her breath. She shook her head, feeling a little dizzy, the frowned. Dammit, she wasn't brought up to be beaten up by some Druid. She bared her teeth and called back the power she had put into creating her shades, and they faded back into oblivion. She straightened up, blood positively pouring from the wound on her back and wings, and cuffed Seplaverta away from her with a clenched fist. She whirled and jumped after her, her eyes wild. Her mother's catlike pride had rubbed off on her, and she did not like losing.

She didn't listen to Pythe's murmured warning, and growled. All Angelic thoughts had gone. She would win this one. She advanced on Seplaverta, flexing her clawed fingers.

The battle was starting to take its toll on Seplaverta. She attempted a counter-stirke but missed, jumping past her.
What's wrong with me?
She turned to face Rael once more.
Why can't I fight?
She struck at Rael once again, her vision a bit fuzzy.
She missed again.
Why can't I focus?
She stumbled and fell to the ground, struggling to get up once more.

All of a sudden, Kuuza's shadow lengthened in front of Seplaverta - the sun was setting.

"Get up," Kuuza echoed harshly. "Did I teach you all those months in order for you to be defeated? Did I waste my time and efforts? Are you, or are you not a Druid? Druids can harness any earthly magic, from water to air, so why can't you? Are you just that pathetic? Are you? ARE YOU?" Her cold steel eyes glinted at Seplaverta in the shadows, waiting for her answer. She did not want her first pupil to fail now. It would be, indeed, a waste. Such a waste.
