The dhampir stood quietly, obviously unscathed by the beast's tantrum. He simply placed a hand on his hip and stared at him with narrowed eyes. He understood what Mekkhale was trying to tell him, but his outlook on his own kind did not change. He wondered why it angered Mekkhale so much when he voiced his feelings about dhampirs. Cairynn, on the other hand, still kept her calm disposition as she looked away from Aiden. "I suppose we are then."

"Have a good day," Dante chimed in.

She was about to turn away, but at the sound of Mekkhale's voice, Cairynn tilted her head slightly as she stopped to look back at him. There was a thick silence around her as she began to think. Slowy, she raised her hand and placed it against her neck. "Well...I suppose it would be smart to accept your help, so therefore I will. However," At this point, her voice grew serious. "...Just know that I cannot allow you to know everything about our plans or about the Runners in general. I hope you understand my reason behind this...but otherwise, I thank you for volunteering. Aiden, you seemed surprised. Are you okay with Mekkhale's decision?"

Dante gave an unsure look at Mekkhale's sudden decision to help out the Runners. He bit down on his lip and raised a brow curiously, then glanced over to Aiden. Upon turning to gaze at her, he noticed the lady was looking at him. These two are quite interesting, he thought. He released his hold on his lip then knitted his brows together, almost as if to question her.

Albeo smiled up at him. "Nope, you're just fine. C'mon, let's-- Wow." Albeo tilted her head and looked at the large sword on Shurui's back. "That sword's really big!" She giggled, then started running down the hill through the grass towards the town. "C'mon, maybe we can find Cornelius while we're there!"

Shurui only smiled at her remarks and behavior, such a happy young women she was and for a moment he stayed in thought before hurrying after her with a typical warm smile on his face. He'd get his materials and make those rapiers then his day would come to a close...however things never do go as planned do they? Even for a big man such as Shurui, he could be quite fast but only matched Albeo's speed knowing there was no real rush for them to get to town.
" I'm sure he's about town."

However it appeared as though timing was not too well for Shurui when he and Albeo arrived in town, they'd be in for a surprise. It seemed that the imperal soldiers had come from the west and reached town about ten minutes before Shurui left with Albeo but why would the Imperal soldiers come to a stray town such as Kaito, it held no important in military standpoint nor the emperor's. In fact, they were hear looking for someone as they seemed to question townspeople without mercy and their ignorant was quite high. The leader of the bunch had come even to the point to threatening if they did not receive their answer.
"...Where is the forger! Shurui Rippiku! Tell me or die!"
The young women who seemed to be at the end of the leader's question only trembled in fear, if words would not come to her...she'd surely be dead in a moment.
"...S-shurui? Oh! He lives in the mountains....."
Not being entirely pleased with the answer, he threw the young lady to the ground muttering something about a sword which caused her fear to only grow.

Albeo slowed to a halt at the bottom of the hill, tilting her head and looking worriedly at the soldiers a few hundred yards away into the town. She looked back at Shurui with a worried expression.

"Shurui, what's going on? Those soldiers...."

"Albeo!" Cornelius came jogging up from the other direction. "It seems they were not in need of me after all..."

Shurui's expression suddenly become quite serious as he saw the soldiers up ahead...especially with the terrified civilians being obiviously threatened. Letting out a soft sigh, he didn't want this to happen....getting others indanger because of himself so he did what he had to and started sprinting towards the small army of Imperal soldiers but not before yelling back to Cornelius and Albeo.
"Wait here! Looks like we have some unwanted people in town!"
Immedidately he had brought himself towards them, closing the distance and grabbing unwanted attention from the soldiers as whispers began to erupt from them and it wasn't long before all eyes were upon the large man with heated stares and glares. Clearing his voice softly, he knew this leader....from previous encounters.
"...Commander Grants...leave that young lady alone...I'm here am I not?"

Grants seemed to only grow angry when he heard the calm voice of Shurui, pointing the sword just handed to him moments ago at the young lady and his voice seemed filled with venomous hate.
" SHURUI! You b*****d....I will harm this lady if I see fit...then I'll get my revenge for my previous battalion..."
Grabbing the young lady by the hair and bringing his blade to her frail neck...a sadistic grin upon the commander's face, he'd kill this lady if Shurui made one wrong move.

Shurui let off another sigh but of frustration, this might trigger him and he didn't want that to result in that....in a flash that slab of metal was draw causing quite a few soldiers to gasp in obivious fright. Seriousness came upon Shurui as he prepared himself for what was to come.
"....No innocents shall be harmed...now let her go...."

Mekkhale grinned at Cairynn for he wondered what the difference was between the two of them officially joining and voluntarily joining. If the leap was that grand then were they actually that trusting towards new but official members? He assumed otherwise, just so that Cairynn looked better as a leader.

'I suppose that even new members must earn your trust. Since we aren't even official, we'll just have to earn your trust and work our way up. I am determined to make a place in this organization of yours. For now, however, I'll agree to your terms. Likewise however, you must not be too expectant nor dependent on us. We do as we please always.'

Aiden continued to stare at Dante even when she was addressed by Cairynn. Mekkhale had his reasons, she knew, but before asking him(or even if she were to ask him), she wanted to see if she could guess first. It was always much more interesting to not know why he did something for they both had a habit of not explaining much. She knew that even by joining this organization, they would not know much about Aiden and Mekkhale so that bothered her little.

When Dante stared back and gave her a questioning look, Aiden smiled at him. So he didn't understand why Mekkhale was doing this either. Then it was perfect if he didn't know, it meant that Mekkhale had something to prove or to observe and she was interested in finding out just exactly what her companion was up to.

Turning back to Cairynn, Aiden stretched and leaned back on air, her grin widening. "I am rather surprised but I trust his decision. Besides, we have little to do in the day and what better than to make a ripple this large? When do we start?"

"Of course...of course." Cairynn nodded her head ever-so-slightly as she laced her fingers together. "I wouldn't dream of ordering you and Aiden to do something you didn't wish to do." As she turned back to the Dark Myth, Cairynn shifted her weight to her left leg. "You two start whenever you are ready."

Arkane
The tent seemed to fall silent upon his entrance. Zola was the only one who spoke. A simple hello was all that broke the tranquility of the tent. However, tranquility was not the word to be used. Tension was a more attaquit word. Roa was packing her belongings, and preparing to leave. She had been wounded and was already planing on leaving. He hoped that she could tend to herself. He looked to Zola who seemed to be prepared to leave as well.

"I assume that the two of you have business?" Alexander questioned. Dropping his gaze to the ground he approached the table and placed the pail upon it. "There is water in the pail, I have business to attend to aswell. If you wish to leave my men will escort you your destination." He set the glass upon the table beside the pail and turned to the tents entrance. Standing for a moment he sighed quietly.

Zola looked over at Alexander and wondered if he was hurt by the sudden goings of the two. A small pang of guilt hit her in her head, but there was also the traveler's hungar to get back on the road.

"Thank you." She said to him. "For your hospitality and offer, but I really have no destination in mind." This was a small lie.

For the last few years Zola had been traveling alone, it was part of her families' traditions to travel and learn magic through experience. The castle was close to this town and held a large library. Beneath that library lay another, one with more ancient knowledge stored in it's dusty contents. Old sources of magic at intirgued her, that and the more noble cause of taking back what did not belong to this particular king. Many of those old sources had been stolen.

"I'm positive at our paths will cross again, Sir."

Zola was right. They all needed to get back to what lives they had. He had a duty to uphold and help these people, Roa was a hermit who had her own things to tend to, and Zola was a traveller who could probably never be tied down in one place. He sighed and stepped away from the table. Roa had already left, it was not a big deal, but he would miss the company. Ardalis was the only one in his home country that he could actually speak openly with and being here had lost that ability. He longed for his friend to be at his side, but sadly he to had his duty to uphold law in Alexanders sted.

" I will be happy when we meet again. I am sure that you know your way about the town. A wanderer like yourself must know her way around many things. I bid you farewell until we meet again... if you'll excuse me, however, I have duties to attend." Alexander bowed graciously and returned to standing. Smiling he turned and headed out the tent getting himself lost in the thinning crowds of the darkening marketplace.

Roa walked through the camp with many eyes faltering to her. She didn't like it. She couldn't stand them staring but it was only temporary. Once she reached her horse Roa sighed heavily and let the weight on her shoulders lessen.

"Come on." She tugged on the reighns and began to leave the encampement, to head back to her home.

As she exited the camp the men were a bustle with work and such, her eyes were weary and she was tired. It hadn't occured to her that she was leaving one of Kaito's last chances of servival. It hadn't occured to her that she was abandoning a way of survival, and it hadn't occured to her that she was exhausted.
Walking along the path, she held onto the reighns mostly for support then anything else. Her legs were tired, her body wanting to collapse. Instead though she trudged on.
He hurt us. He hurt us because we're
"Stop it." She whispered, halting the horse and the cart. "Just... please.... stop."

The evening air was crisp. The stars were starting to peek through the illuminated sky, and the moon slowly rising far off in the distance. It was going to be a clear night, but something seemed off. There seemed to be the smell of blood in the air. After a life of living in the army and leading many war parties against other nations, Alexander had become used to the smell of blood and could usually smell it when it spilled. His brow furrowed and a chill shot down his spine. It wasn't normal for a knight of his stature to feel this way, but he couldn't help it. His arm tensed and seemed to gain a mind of its own; moving to the hilt of his sword. Alexander noticed this and seemed to be at unease. Shaking his arm to get rid of the tension he spoke softly and with a sorrowful tone.

"Blood will be spilt this eve." He lowered his head and continued on his way to the northern parts of the town. His men had set up their carts to the side of the courthouse. There was easy access from the front, but was stuck between the court and the building beside it. They were still handing out food and supplies. Providing life for the people who needed it. But is it enough... He thought to himself. He was not himself at the moment. Sadly through the times of war Alexander had gained another side to himself. His happy demeanour was what all the people in the world saw, but the horrible depression that he suffered from (that came about only at certain times) had become a part of his life too. Shell shock in a manner of speaking. So many years of death and destruction can change a man. His views and beliefs of peace and prosperity were fuelled by this depression... so that no one else would have to experience it like he did.

Zola strolled out of the camp and walked through the forest back into the town. The Wind blew through the trees and tangled her hair playfully and Zola smiled. The night was peaceful and she wondered if she should camp in the forest tonight. It seemed like the logical choice, she had no useable money and the night promised her rest and good dreams.

Her feet, which were rested and no longer sore, urged her on. The night also promised securety if she tried to sneak into the palace tonight. But was that foolhardy? Zola pondered her choices as she walked towards town. As she got closer the Wind picked up again, waeving its way around her body, wisphering to her of the town. Her green eyes looked up and she broke into a run. Her feet hit the ground silently as she followed the wind.

When Zola reached the border of the town she stayed the forest and pulled the darkness around her in a spell. She had a good view of everything and the majority of the people standing there were soldiers would wouldn't sense the spell. Zola knew there was someone who would sense her power, whether it was an imperial mage or a fortuneteller, she wasn't sure.

Cornelius stared in surprise at the captain as he threatened the young lady and acted so harshly towards Shurui, and was suddenly filled with indignity. He strode toward the Commander, attracting the attention of some of the men around him. "Excuse me, sir, but I do not believe that is the proper way to treat a--" One of the soldiers turned and punched Cornelius in the face, knocking him off his feet. "Stupid boy! Stay out of this!" He spat on the ground near Cornelius and turned his attention back to Commander Grants.
PostPosted: Tue Oct 24, 2006 6:56 pm

Commander Grants only seemed to glance at the young man who had interrupted them before returning his gaze upon Shurui with venomous eyes. He would kill this women in moments whether if Shurui attacked or not....he'd make an example and then he'd massacure the man would stood against him and his battalion.
"....She shall die such as you sha-"

It was a quick slash and quite unbelievable with the size of that slab of metal, it came but not a inch from the Commander's head. It had indeed though caused the commander to lose his grip on the young women with enough time for her to slip away....certainly putting the commander and company at a sheer disadvantage. However, the Battalion didn't let up as hundreds began to draw their blades, bows and staves....Shurui hadn't wanted it to amount to this but if blood had to be spilt....then he'd have to deal with the guilt afterwards. His body moved into a ready position...giving one glance towards Cornelius...to give him the message to leave....he didn't want anyone getting caught in his fight.
"....I don't wanna kill you....but if you and your army is so pig headed...then let us get this over with..."

Commander Grants became quite angry after he had lost his hostage and Shurui had so blantly gotten the advantage. Gritting his teeth, he couldn't be able to control himself much longer before doing without thinking.
" Ready men! Prepare for battle!"
The army was over confident to say the least, rowdy and loud....they would think taking care of a single person as an easy feet but they'd be in for a surprise as they headed blindly into something they were far from ready for. Grants only sheered then as silence fell upon everyone.....one move and it would begin.

"Cornelius, are you alright...?" Albeo knealt to help Cornelius up and he nodded in answer to her question.

Cornelius caught the look and stood carefully, picking up his book slowly so as not to agitate the already uneasy battalion.

"Albeo, you should return home..." Albeo looked at the battalion uneasily for a moment, then nodded. "Be careful...." She turned and started quickly back up the hill towards her home. Cornelius watched her go for a moment then turned to see Shurui saving the girl just in time. Cornelius tensed; he didn't want to fight, but it would be cowardice to allow Shurui to fight alone. Even though they had just met, he knew it would not be right to leave him. The cry for battle went up, and Cornelius opened his book, placing one hand in the middle of a circle drawn on one of the pages, prepared to assist Shurui in any way he saw possible.
