if a
Christian were to commit suicide, would they go to Heaven or Hell?
You mean, someone who had given their life to Jesus Christ and accepted him as lord and savior? I'd like to think they go to heaven. Just because they died in a moment of anger or self-hate...I mean, what about a Christian who gets drunk and then dies behind the wheel? Do we question their place in the kingdom of God?
but could it be argued that a properly saved person wouldn't have such thoughts of suicide (unless of course they have actual mental problems)?
of course it could be argued...but successfully? well, maybe. But that leads us to an argument of what properly saved is.
someone who has genuinely recognized their need for Christ and their acceptance of His sacrifice, be they Mormon, JW, Catholic, whatever.
so my question then is ... would this person, who has the qualities above, of their own free will and has no mental problems, commit suicide?
I don't believe so. It's never been my experience that someone meeting those qualities has taken their own life.
what if say, someone was coerced into taking their own life, be it (edit
smile by a spiritual or physical being? is it possible there was a properly saved person among Jim Jones' group that willingly killed themselves?
