Okay, more dogs! I did the rest of the KHII Organization cast, as well as some miscellaneous dogs while I was practicing my dog breed identification skills.
[link] Some miscellaneous brindle-patterned dog while I was still going for that thin, spindly, mix breed aspect for Xigbar... and quickly gave up since we already have a greyhound-mix, and this looked too similar.
[link] I liked the pose, and I think it was starting as a Jack Russell, but now it's just some random terrier because I didn't have any references about.
[link] Saluki for Axel! I actually drew this dog first for the action-y pose, then added a coat because the other dogs had coats, then went to fix some fur on its head which slowly turned into Axel's hair... X3
[link] Basenji for Xigbar! I finally came across what I thought to be a decent breed for Xigbar - the basenji! A medium-small dog with a BIG attitude, known for being rather stubborn, and somewhat temperamental, but a good one-on-one companion dog. Plus the little double-loop tail is just plain amusing.
[link] Miscellaneous Weimaraner, which
almost ended up being Xemnas, but they seem too energetic and companion oriented... though dignified. It was a hard choice to make.
[link] Miscellaneous Golden Retriever used to illustrate the back of the coats so that the tails can be nice and free to do as they please. Plus I recently realized while looking through my own trench coats that it's common to have a split in the very back. Why? I don't know.
[link] Wirehaired Pointing Griffon for Luxord! It was hard to find a dog for Luxord, especially since I don't know much about him... but I settled for this after flipping through one of several AKC books lying around my Vet-Tech class countless times. It was hard to decide what I was going to do for facial hair, so he just got a goatee instead of a full kenney.
[link] Miscellaneous Schipperke, which was actually based on my art teacher's dog, Konoshiki. Shiki visited us because he keeps escaping the house somehow, and my teacher didn't have any time to go put him back so he got to go with her that day, and since I didn't have a camera available I drew him instead... though mostly from memory... ^^;
[link] Okay, so it's not a dog... nor a dragon, or a griffon. It's a Zorph, my own original creation! ... Other than the fact that it's a heartless, but I got around to thinking, "What if Lopezz (the planet that most of my characters reside on) were to be 'infected' by darkness? What species that are unique to Lopezz would be affected?" and a heartless zorph was born.
[link] Norfolk Terrier for Roxas! This was another hard one to decide on. I kind of wanted a Jack Russell for Roxas, but they seemed a bit too outgoing, so he got a Norfolk instead.
[link] Belgian Tervuren for Xemnas! This was easily the hardest of the group. Not only could I not find a decent breed for Xemnas, but his hair tried to kill me eight times over, I swear. Anyway, Belgian Tervurens are heading dogs, I believe, and solitary ones at that. They're bred to look large, foreboding to potential predators, and dignified... with lots of thick fur that makes them pant all the time. X3
If anyone is interested in their own dogs, give me a breed and I'll be happy to draw them, especially since this method seems to be helping me IMMENSELY for my Breed Identification unit in my Veterinary Assisting and Grooming class!
