Its a snake, and I was playing with it, then running from it.

It could mean a couple different things. The most simple (and I'm only good at simple interpretations) is that your familiar is one that should help you from a distance because close contact may cause problems. It could be because it feels a loyalty needs to be paid by helping you, but it doesn't want to be friends in any way, or it could be because having that familiar around will cause outside forces to interfere...
If you don't feel that's quite right, it may have a deeper meaning and you'll have to ask somebody else for a more in depth analysis.
