Mrs. Tasuki As for Tasuki stuff, I must admit he is pretty two-dimensional in the anime...(BWAHAHA I HAVE MY OWN PUN!) But really, Tasuki's character is kind of...lacking...in the anime, but it helps a lot if you read Genrouden, because it explains a lot. Also, the manga does a lot better with character development (Big Suprise there)
Maybe my ideas of "two-dimensional" are different from everyone else's, or maybe I just tend to overanalyze the hell out of things, but I never found him two-dimensional at all! I thought he was one of the show's more fleshed-out characters... much more fleshed out than certain main characters I could mention...
But then again, I could just be saying that because I've been writing him into my fanfics (I promise I'm not trying to plug my writings this time!) for the past three years, so I feel something of a connection with the little bandit. The other fic-writers out there know what I'm talking about. Someday, I'll have to write a Seiryuu Seishi fanfic, then maybe I'll understand what you folks see in 'em... sweatdrop
Wow, I'm so glad this debate isn't about Chichiri. Considering how violently I'm protecting Tasuki, who isn't even my favorite, (he's actually #3, behind Chichiri and Koji) I'd hate to see me defending my beloved monk...
But then again, no one dislikes Chichiri, so no worries there, right? whee

I'm not Tasuki's biggest fan either (he's my sixth favorite Suzaku seishi), but I got inspired the other day to write a story that's kind of about him. I't Harry Potter and Fushigi Yuugi and it's kind of weird (no, it's not Seishi-or-Miaka-at-Hogwarts, or not a typical one of those) and it's narrated by Tasuki, who is, incidentally, not quite Tasuki.
Did that make sense? Sorry, I'm recovering from sleep deprivation brought on by two many all-nighters in one week. At least classes are over now and there's nothing left but the finals. stressed stressed stressed

I mean, at least in the majority of the anime, he really has no feelings, except for the rare occasion. Although I completely disagree with what I just said, (Confused? You bet I am!) A lot of people may mistake his "I'm way too cool for women, and I only cry once" for lack of dimension, but I think it's much deeper, because I myself tend to not show a lot of emotion. This may be a surprise to people, but life isn't a soap opera, where people just tell everyone exactly what they're feeling, and keeping things to himself is one of the qualities that I think makes Tasuki even more realistic, because who can't think of a majorly badass guy who doesn't especially like to say what he's feeling? Also, how can he not be three-dimensional? He has faults out the yin-yang! (Unlike somebody...*cough cough* Tamahome! *cough cough*) I think if one pays more attention to a picture of Tamahome whenever he's onscreen, which is quite often, might not read into Tasuki's character. (No offense to those who drool over Little Ghost) If someone is supposed to be two-dimensional, I would say that it's Chiriko. He's grossly underestimated, even though he saved Every Single Seishi and the Miko...twice...which no one else did at all. (Everyone else just saves one person at a time, usually Miaka, but Chiriko stopped Amiboshi and Miboshi). I am glad, however, that they did write a gaiden for Chiriko that is MAJORLY cute, even if I'm angry that they didn't have the little bumping problem that Chiriko gets in the anime. (I love when Chiriko trips and his symbol goes out and he just sits and cries "I'm scared!" It's so cute!) I think Kouji is a VERY well done character, considering he's not in the series for too long, and I think it shows considering his fan base (I love him too Rihga!) And if anyone doesn't like Chichiri, I'd like to meet them, and ask them why they are an evil mastermind bent on ruling a world devoid of laughter and awesomeness. (Oh...that's Nakie-poo... xp Haha! xd Just kidding, just kidding!)

Man, I could get into a hugeass discussion about Tasuki's character (one day, I'll probably write up a Character Sketch Essay on him, if I can get away with it in English class xd ). Like I've said before, there's a lot about him that you can really dig in to. But I'll save you all the headaches of reading that for now. ^^ And I agree with Mrs. Tasuki on all accounts (except the "just kidding" thing to Naki-chan -- we all know your evil plans).
I wound up falling in love with Koji, oddly enough, while I was writing for him in my first FY fanfic. I always liked him, and he became a semi-main character somewhat by accident, and somewhere along the way I just realized "Damn... Koji so cool!" whee
Chiriko had more of a personality in the manga, but Watase really did he and Mitsukake a huge injustice. There could have been so much development with them, and she just let it sit there and go to waste! Poor Mitsukake and Chiriko...
And I'm so glad nobody dislikes Chichiri. That means I don't have to kill anyone today!

What if more people would simply straight up tell people how they feel (to the best of their ability anyway..I know sometimes some things are hard to explain or project correctly...but were talking overall and in general) If people would just be honest and straightforward..the world would be a much better place...(Yes..I know I'm turning a debate about anime into a discussion about human nature and the like...sue me..My lawyers are ready!)
1. If you are, say, the President of the United States, and you're trying to make peace with North Korea, I don't think it's a good idea to walk up to Kim Jong and say: "I think you're f-ckin' crazy."
Or, something a bit closer to home:
2. If you realize that you've fallen "in love" with a close friend, but you know damn well they don't feel the same way in return, being honest about your feelings could potentially scare away that close friend, or at the very least make things awkward. Secondly, because love is such a tricky thing, you might realize a month later that you never really "loved" them at all. Then you'd just feel like an a**.
As much as I'd love it if we could all be open and honest, there are some things I'd rather keep to myself, or only share with people I truly trust. So, I can't really say that I wish the world just spoke its mind, because then I'm being hypocritical. And I really dislike hypocrites. sweatdrop

1. If you are, say, the President of the United States, and you're trying to make peace with North Korea, I don't think it's a good idea to walk up to Kim Jong and say: "I think you're f-ckin' crazy."
Or, something a bit closer to home:
2. If you realize that you've fallen "in love" with a close friend, but you know damn well they don't feel the same way in return, being honest about your feelings could potentially scare away that close friend, or at the very least make things awkward. Secondly, because love is such a tricky thing, you might realize a month later that you never really "loved" them at all. Then you'd just feel like an a**.

Nakago Oh yes...On account of human nature...you are QUITE right. There is definitely a time to speak out and a time to shut up ettc. etc. I understand that point as well..perhaps I did not convey correctly...I did not mean in everything everywhere you have to be straight out in your honesty (Presuming you are honest), but MORE often than now perhaps. And even to the extent of All the time...you don't have to be so belligerant about it as per your first example...Simly let the other person know..that you really don't care for them..and it woul prbablty be the best for the both of you to avoid eachother...again your example is an extremity that might not be possible in...but thats beyond the point.
