Lesson 1
So maybe expecting to hit three in a row right away was asking a bit much. He only needed to hit the target one more time. He fired again, and the blast sizzled out at the same spot in the ground as before.

[LESSON TWO]
Perhaps a little over-confident, Wu-Xia attempted to hit her next Censor without the a guide, but using just her mental targeting alone made the shot go wide. Shaking her head at herself, Wu-Xia decided to go back to what worked... Plus, it looked cool!

[LESSON TWO]
With her left hand hovering near her temple, Wu-Xia focused, feeling the glow of psychic energy building up in her head; with another grand, sweeping gesture of her right arm, another Censor exploded bloodlessly, the bright-orange marks of psychic aggression bouncing and skittering over the spinning gears.
Wu-Xia allowed herself a celebratory grin before picking another target.

[LESSON TWO]
A second later, a third Censor followed in the way of the first two; while Wu-Xia was certainly not the only student destroying their share of Censors, she was no longer paying attention to the others, not even to worry about whether or not they were hitting more targets than she was. Wu-Xia's narrowed focus was apparently paying off, so that was probably a good thing.

Lesson 1
Maybe he just needed to concentrate better. Those clocks were distracting. Kevin tried again, and the PSI blast swung wide, zipping past the target in an entirely different direction than he had attempted to adjust his aim to. This was ridiculous.

Unfortunately, Wu-Xia's streak couldn't last; her next Psyblast missed, arching off into the distance, and her braids swayed sharply as she shook her head.
"Tsch..." was all she said, before getting back to the business of totally blasting those Censors away.

The next attempt was more successful, though whether that was due to Wu-Xia's focus or the fact that her next Psyblast seemed much more, well, aggressive than the last...
Regardless, the fact remained that yet another Censor had gone up in smoke, and Wu-Xia picked her next target from the pack of mental constructs as they ran in small circles atop the gears.

Honestly, the Censors were kind of funny-looking, though maybe they'd be less so if Wu-Xia were actually encountering them in a hostile mind. Distracted for a second as she wondered what her Censors looked like, Wu-Xia paid for that split-second of distraction with another miss, and she shook her head as if to clear it.
'Focus, Wu-Xia!' she told herself, inhaling and exhaling, the way her sifu made her breathe when she was supposed to be meditating. 'You can find that out later!'

Lesson 1
He was determined to hit this time, so he could move on to the next lesson. It was a still target, it shouldn't be so hard! He tried to tune out anything distracting. He knew he could do this. He made the shot, and missed again.
Kevin was starting to feel as though the ticking of the clocks were laughing at him.

Wu-Xia's next beam hit its target unerringly, and the blast was so powerful this time that it actually knocked the Censor back, bouncing the mental construct off of the Censor-spouting funnel even as the small figure scattered into ammo. Wu-Xia didn't bother to celebrate this time, though; she had only one more target to hit, so she could save her excitement for that.

There was no response to Wu-Xia's next miss, or at least, there was no verbal response. Her pale eyes narrowed a little, but that was all; she was focused entirely on getting that last target, her demeanor startlingly different from that of the bouncy, smiley kid who'd first entered the test.

Okay, so maybe he had underestimated the difficulty in controlling this ability. No big deal. He still only needed to hit the target once more. He tried again. Once again, Kevin's PSI blast flew too wide, past the target.
He stifled a frustrated groan. He only needed one more hit.
