His eyes momentarily stopped being irritated and he glanced up at the cage that with the little black speckled bird. "It sort of looks like a raven." he observed. Reaching in the cage to pet it, the little starling climbed on his finger and once he pulled him closer to observe, the little bird pecked at his forehead. "ow...hehe, ow-" he laughed as it kept pecking the prince's face. "It's- ow- kinda cute..ow!" he giggled, facing Garrat.

Garrat sighed and moved the starling to his own hand. They were normally friendly birds, but he supposed there was just something about Nathaniel that birds didn't like. "I suppose we'll have to look for something else," he said as he attempted to put the bird back in its cage, but it seemed to walk along his arm to avoid returning. "Don't be stubborn, get back in there!"

Nathan laughed and smiled at the little creature Garrat moved it away, "As much as I like birds, I think I'd be too sad to leave them inside a cage all day..." he added allowed. The little bird followed along Garrat's arm and it made Nathan giggle. "Hahaha, aw it likes you! You're always good with all the birds Garrat " he smiled as the rain began to come down a bit harder. " Do you want him as a pet?" the prince asked.

"I have no need for a pet, Your Highness," Garrat said as he continued to try to brush the bird back into the cage. "Besides, we're looking for a companion for you. There has to be one around here that you can be around." He was starting to get exasperated with the starling. The bird just refused to leave him be! If this continues, perhaps they would have no other choice but to buy it.
Perhaps it wouldn't be such a bad idea, though. Considering that Garat was with Nathaniel all the time, the two of them could share the bird as a pet. Well, it may take a while before the starling begins to like Nathaniel.

Nathan nodded and every time he'd get closer to take a better look at the little bird, the starling would peck at his head. "ow-... You should get him. He likes you! " he smiled. Then, to his surprise, his words were repeated. "He likes you~" the little starling repeated. The prince's eyes lit up in astonishment! "He can copy what you say!? He's amazing! Garrat what will you name him?" he asked excitedly. The little starling faced Nathan and climbed up high to the knight's shoulder. "He Likes you~" the little bird repeated. The old man was still cackling from the previous prank that he waved his hand over to the two boys and took a swig from his mug. "Oi, just take the lil' bugga... There ar' pleny of em'. But they gab an awful lot... that one there don't like many... I reckon ye lucked out sire, fer ya and yer lady... " he gestured, still having a few last minute laughs as he took another sip from his mug.
Nathan gawked and turned away, leaning on his friend as he muttered quietly, "but I'm a boy...~" he sighed desperately. This did happen a few times, despite his attire, some people mistook Nathan's delicate hands and pale smooth face as those of a woman's. Before Garrat could actually say anything, Nathaniel noticed something white and pink in an muddy and dark alley way. Walking out of the tent and into the rain, Nathan would return to Garrat's side with something small and shivering in his arms. To others, it would have looked like a diseased rat, but on closer inspection, the truth revealed to what looked like a little 'naked' kitten.

For a moment, Garrat wasn't sure if the starling was just copying Nathaniel or if the bird knew something. Of course, that would have to be ridiculous. What does a bird know that no one else knew? With a sigh, the knight handed some money to the shop owner for the bird. Might as well, since it seemed like the starling wasn't going to leave him alone now. "Ugh... I'm horrible at names," he muttered as he left the tent.
As he left, he saw Nathaniel carrying something in his arms. "What is that?" he asked once he realized it was moving.

"I'm not sure. I've never seen anything like it before" Nathan muttered to his friend. When the prince entered the tent again, he was immediately shooed away once the merchant saw the creature, assuming it was a diseased rat! Returning back to the soldiers side, he looked a bit worried and cuddled closer to the little naked mass. "Maybe I should nurse it back to health.. It's so little .... " he glanced up to Garrat with a cheeky grin, "promise not to tell my mother?" He asked with pleading puppy dog eyes and a pouting lip.

There are times when Garrat just couldn't resist those eyes... "You have my word," he answered. As the rain poured, Garrat knew for sure that he and Nathaniel wouldn't be able to hide that they had gone back to the village behind the royal family's backs. "Though I believe your mother would know something anyway. She always had that way of knowing."

Garrat had been won over. "Then we best get going!" The prince exclaimed with vigor. He mounted up on the horse and decided to hold on to his knight while holding the little shivering creature in his arms.
When they were to arrive, the family hadn't yet gotten there just yet.

Upon arriving to the castle, Garrat was relieved that somehow the royal family wasn't there yet. After returning the horse to the stables, he quickly led Nathaniel to his room. Once there, the starling perched on the bed's overhang and watched the two humans and the hairless creature below. Meanwhile, Garrat got some towels to dry everyone off. "We're fortunate your family hasn't returned yet, though why they're taking their time is a mystery."

Grabbing a towel, he wrapped the little naked creature and then placed him down on the bed. The little starling and Nathaniel, simultaneously shook their wet heads. Nathan buried his face in the softness of the towels.
"I'm not sure, maybe we were just faster-!" Nathan was stating until he faced the doorway to see the stubbornly beautiful Rosa leaning. "Hello boys~ my my when did you get that wet?" asked the red headed woman. Nathan stepped forward and stood in front of Garrat. "Rosa, you should really knock when you come in my room." he passively warned but with a friendly grin. Rosa raised her brow at the prince's stance, but remembered he was still a prince. She curtsied and smiled, "Welcome back you two... I apologize, your mother just wanted me to see how your two were doing.." as if an idea she had been hatching was already put to a stop. She glanced up and questioned the little bird by Garrat... "Uhh, Garrat..? You've got a raven on your shoulder?" she pointed out. Nathan sort of tucked his little pet away, knowing that if Rosa saw it, she'd probably scream.

"He's a starling, actually," Garrat corrected her. He very much wished the woman didn't have to be here The bird in mention could sense the knight's discomfort and proceeded to glare at Rosa in a way that birds can. "I don't suppose he likes being called a raven," the knight said when he noticed his bird's expression. Or maybe the bird just didn't like Rosa in general.

Footsteps could be heard outside the hall as Rosa pushed forward. "Well why would you have a silly little bird like that on your shoulder..." The little starling probably really didn't like this lady now. Even Nathan pouted at the response. "No, Rosa, he's Garrat's new pet! And he's not silly! " he retorted. The little bird chirped again. 'He Likes you' to Nathan, but making Rosa get the wrong impression and try to cling to Garrat's arm.
Soon Manureva walked in and approached the young prince with a cup of tea. "I told you to knock, Rose..." she sighed. "We'll-?" Manureva was about to leave when she saw the towel on the bed move, causing Nathan to panic and quickly drink his tea and step in between the towel and his sister. He gave a sheepish grin and quickly sort of shooed them out of his room, leaving him alone with Garrat.
Nathan sighed in relief and returned back to the towel. His clothes were still wet and made him cold but despite it, the boy continued to stay captivated by the little bare creature. "Garrat, I think it's a cat... what do you think? Ah~! What are you going to name your starling?! You have to name him he's your pet now!" he pressed again since he hadn't heard what Garrat said before, shivering some.

No thanks to that bird's slip of the beak, Garrat had to avoid Rosa until Nathaniel shooed her out. "By the stars, she is persistent!" he said once he was sure she wasn't around to hear. "If it weren't for our differences in status, I would have given her a piece of my mind." He shooed his starling away so he could change out of his wet attire and into some dryer clothes.
"Nathaniel, I suggest you change before you catch a cold," Garrat said once he was finished and after the starling perched on his shoulder again. "From your shivering, you may have already gotten it." He walked over to the bedside to examine the furless pet. "It certainly has the back of a kitten, but you should know it would grow fur eventually. You can't keep it for long."

It made Nathan chuckle a bit to hear how much Garrat was annoyed by Rosa's constant attempts at flirting. His smile quickly faded at the mention of him possibly already having a cold. He stood up and began taking his wet shirt off. "No! I feel-..I feel..Achoo-!" he sneezed. Sniffling a bit, "I feel fine.." he said shivering. He was already pale and little droplets of rain water ran down from his hair.
"I refuse.. to get sick again. If I get sick that means I can't spend more time outside with you..-Achoo-!" he sneezed again. The little pink creature sneezed as well. Nathan ignored his sneezing symptoms and sat on the bedside and cradled the naked feline. "I hope it doesn't grow any.. I like him.. He's cute... and he's soft... " Nathan gestured for Garrat to come closer and happily took his and guided it to the little kitten's bare-looking head. "See, he's kind of soft, like velvet.." he stated happily.
Nathan looked up at Garrat's little starling and then into Garrat's blue eyes and smiled. "Say, if you don't like Rosa, then do you like someone else? Why don't you tell her that you're already with someone?" the prince asked. A small twinkle glittered in his eyes as another question popped into his mind. "Will you tell me who it is, or is it another secret?" he asked curiously with an eyebrow cocked.
