A hissing sigh came from Mable as she sat down next to Firin, "Something tells me that's only postponing the problem.", she said, pulling her legs in and resting her arms on her knees. Firin looked up at the sky, "I just...don't know. We can't just leave. What's to stop the Kehjani from conquering the other kingdoms, building an unstoppable force and hunting us down? It's like the civil war all over again...Only far worse.", he said with a depressed sigh.

Firin looked to Selene, attempting to smile, "Best to start somewhere, I suppose. We'll have to go back and inform the Highlord and Noxx'Zus...", he said as the crystal disk on his coat's sleeve began to pulse with a white-blue light, startling Firin and Mable at it's sudden resonation. Firin held up his arm as the light expanded into a small hologram of Noxx'Zus standing above the crystal disk. "Way ahead of you, Captain. While you've been...erm... indisposed, the Highlord and I have been poking around the Kehjani tech that we control and have learned a thing or two. Like how to access video feed from your eyepiece, we saw the 'ManaMechs', as they call them.", Noxx'Zus said calmly.

The hologram looked towards Selene, "That is most gracious, any help you can give is welcomed. However, with only three days I fear that we may not be prepared to face Keh'Jan.", Noxx'Zus said, his voice slightly distorted from the arcane hologram. Firin sighed, "Then what more can we do?", he said, a bit anxious. Noxx'Zus cleared his throat, the hologram looking back to Firin, "If you recall, Ran'Ku's Ss'Kul'Kyn were able to take down several of Miss Selene's mechs. I believe we should seek alliance with Ba'Hai'Ir.", the Steward's hologram proposed. Firin's eyes widened some as an actual smile formed on his lips, "Of course! The Ba'Hai'Ir Ss'Kul'Kyn riders!", he exclaimed, standing with a sudden vigor.

The hologram began to flicker, the image becoming fuzzy, "Only to return with Firin to Bel'tha'go. Oh, and bring your mechs, we'll need to examine them as well as you upon your arrival. At sunrise tomorrow, we'll send an emissary to the Ba'Hai'Ir Knight-Lord Sol'Ux and try to get an accord.", Noxx'Zus' voice crackled as the hologram faded out, the glowing light within the crystal disk dimming. Firin looked to Selene, a determined smile set on his face, "There may be a chance after all.", he said, confidence filling his voice. Mable leaped from her seat joyfully, putting one arm around Firin's shoulders and the other around Selene's, "You see? This is why I stayed with you guys, you're so interesting.", she hissed with a smile, as Firin eyed the Younger strangely but kept his own grin.

Firin followed Selene to her fighter hangar, Mable skipping alongside them. "Something doesn't sound right.", Firin said, as he tapped his chin with his index finger in thought, "That woman said the truce was terminated by Emperor Strom'Gaart, but at the request of this 'Colonel'. This was not the Kehjani Emperor's own decision. What kind of man is this Colonel, to persuade an Emperor to go to war against an ally?"

Firin climbed into the empty seat of the fighter, "I'm curious as to why the Kehjani Emperor agreed to this. He's a strong man, it seems unlikely that the word alone of a single man should have been enough to change Strom'Gaart's mind.", Firin said, thinking deeply on the subject. Mable squeezed into the fighter, compressing her body to fit in the machine comfortably.

The Technomancer Commander felt a displacing distortion as his and Selene's surroundings warped and shifted from the chaotic scene of the Keh'Jan battlefield to the serene surroundings of Selene's desert home.
