Edward nodded as he ran in to find Heart while yelling back to Shikaru, "Becareful!"
Yet before he could get very far, someone stopped him. She was dressed in an all black gown. Her eyes were a blood red. Her skin was very pale. Her hair was long and of ebony, flowing down her back. She was smiling fiendishly and and looking at him with her darkened eyes.
"Hello Edward," she said in a cool and calm tone.
Edward froze in confusion...who was she?

Edward was still frozen before the dark woman. bewildered and wondering who she was. While she only smirked and waited patiently for him to say something. "You don't know who I am? Did you really forget that quickly?"
He couldn't find the voice to answer. Fear gripped his heart when he realized exactly who she really was....HEART!

"It can't be...why?"
The woman who had been Heart at one time smirked. Then suddenly she grabbed him, holding him by the throat and her nails digging into his skin.
"I am no longer Heart. I have no name, nor do I need or want one. All I want is to serve the shadows that I was created in! And you will not stop me, and neither will the one who is with you!"

"Don't worry, you don't have to stop me.." a woman's voice snickered as she appeared before Shikaru with Edward still in her hold. Her arms wrapped around him as though claiming his energy and blood for her own. "Hello Shikaru."

"I want to help the shadows. They will take over and I will use my new powers to destroy all that is good and pure in this world. Only darkness lives in my heart now."
It was now that Edward began to awaken from his frozen state in her arms. He saw Shikaru and started to struggle to try and warn him of who the girl really was. Yet she silenced his voice again and he fell into a sleep again.
"Don't worry Edward, just sleep for now. Soon you too will fight for the shadows and you will serve me as well."
Then she turned to Shikaru again. "How do I know your name?" She asked in a teasing tone, reading his thoughts for a moment, "Don't you recognize me?"

The girl's eyes widened and then she glared at him. "You won't take away the power I've been given. I belong to the shadows, and so does he." She gestured to Edward, who lay still in her arms, as though simply asleep. The shadows needed him to sink into darkness, so he couldn't save her. For he was the only one who could with Shikaru's help. "So now what will you do Shikaru? Destroy those who were your friends?"
Once again Edward came to the surface for a moment to shake his head, as though telling Shikaru not to hurt her; but to find another way to help her. He knew Heart was still there deep down. Then he faded out again. too weak to stay up.

"I'm not afraid of you!" Heart spat. Her eyes sparking with anger. She didn't even notice Edward awakening again, now that he was free of her hold on him. He saw Shikaru gripping her neck and tried to ask him to stop; but his voice had been taken from her hold over him. So he had to wait for it to come back.
"Do what you like!" She told him.

Edward stood shakily, looking at the blade in his hand now. How could he stab her? He truly cared for her. Yet if he didn't, she would die! So, he had to trust in Shikaru! With that he approached her still form and without a second thought, he raised the sword and plunged his sword into her. Heart's eyes opened wide in their original color. They were filled with pain as she watched Edward pull the weapon from her chest. Then she collapsed.
Frightened, Edward dropped the blade and then fell to his knees. Then he slowly lifted her still form up into her arms. Afterwards he looked up to Shikaru, "Will she be okay?"
