I've had a dream where I was the very first person to join Gaia. So, I bought, like, 10 of the '03 letters and bought '04 letter as well. It was a crazy dream. But... I loved it. Then I woke up and cried. xd cry

The official exchange rate for Gaia is US $1 = 2000 Gift Credit/Gold.
That is it, now we have an official exchange rate. Though you can't buy donation letters, game items, or can't be traded or transferred to other users.
Also, gift wrapping and sending is made much easier! I like that feature the most, now you can send gifts through Gaia Parcel Service. xD

Actually, it'd be a hojillion divided by 2000.
So if something was worth 100,000 gold, then you could get um, $50
If it worked in reverse, of course. whee
Okay. $20, and one would have enough credits for fairy wings.
Given that you can sell fairy wings for 39,500 fairly quickly on the vend, that roughly converts Cash into Gold fairly quickly.
Conversely, donating $20 would get one 8 donation letters. Sold pre-release, you can fetch anywhere between 5k and 6k for one, post release, unless the items are REALLY heinous, and the ONLY ones I can recall seeing at under 5k on opening day were the pajamas; it seems to jump to about 7 or 8k at least for the first night or two, sometimes higher, but almost never under 6k for the initial rush.
So if say, I wanted 40k right now, I could toss $20 into the site, get gift credits, buy fairy wings, presto.
But if I was wise and wanted more bang for my buck, I'd wait until a really awesome donation item was released, and just donate then. It wouldn't even be speculation if I donated right when the items were released and had directly witnessed the items selling for high amounts on Vend.
Though, I've only ever once donated during the month in order to sell letters, and that was specifically to piss people off who were trying to run a blacklist... and the funny thing is? It was june '05, the phoenix circlets and dragonbone stuff, and I bought 5 of each for less than my profit from selling 4 letters mid-month.

Ah, such fun.
The crew of "Harcore Ratings" thread is all pissy at me. And me, well I'm just throughly entertained. Mention their monitors are off apparently is enough for them to jump down your throat and try to claim rank on you.
