After a brief conversation with Junior, Theresa had found out that yeah the kid did have someone outside of her and Kade, but it wasn't really who she was expecting. Gladice LeBlanc. She didn't get how well he actually knew her or much of anything, outside that she existed and Junior thought she was nice.. Or Satan. He kept changing his mind every few minutes. The best course of action she could come up with was to check out the lady herself. If she was the b***h he partly seemed to think her to be, then she would ditch and check the kid in at the daycare so she could head out to her date.. But, if all that evil was just something planted in Junior's head, then, well, she would have a free babysitter. Worth a shot either way. She stood outside the quaint house, Junior muttering something to himself as he often did when he wanted to say something but didn't have the balls to speak up. She silently sighed and ran a hand through his hair, ruffling it in a means to sooth the kid. Nervous as a rabbit in open field. He quieted for a moment, giving her the chance to ring the doorbell, before that persistent murmuring started up again. She took a deep breath. Not that she minded, but, really, two or three days of hearing that going nonstop? It was enough to drive even a monk crazy!

Oh? A visitor? Who might that be? She had just baked her last loaf of bread! The old woman walked toward the door, really having no idea who that might have been. The only people she had over, outside of her family, where Walter and Hansel, and neither of them usually showed up without calling first. She looked trough the curtain, trying to see who it was. it was a young woman that Gladice had never seen before. This was rather odd, considering she pratingly knew all of the island. Perhaps it was a travelling sales woman? Good! She loved to listen to their two hours long speech before politely refusing to buy anything which usual made them want to cry for having wasted their time with her. Oh well, their fault for trying to sell her things she could just as easily buy over the Infomercial on TV. Like the magic bullet! She had bough one a couples years ago, only to throw it in the garbage the next week. Wast of money it had been. She opened the door, looking at Tess with a questioning look and completely failing to notice Junior standing next to her. "Yes, can I help you?" She asked. Surely, that woman wanted something.

..Well, aside from the red dress, the woman didn't look anything like Satan. But, Satan could be deceptive! He could be disguised as an old lady to later tempt her into.. something-something, whatever Satan tempted people to do. Murder? Maybe murdering the kid? Uh.. Yeah, Theresa dropped that thought with a glance to Junior. ..Until she remembered that Jesus had disguised himself as an old lady or beggar or something once too, so.. Now she was stuck. Wait, had he actually turned into an old beggar or was that just a..? Er, Tess never paid attention to the bible, she just went to the damned church. That was enough, wasn't it?! ..Hopefully. She cleared her throat to somehow clear her mind of any more questions. “Maybe. This is the LeBlanc house, right?” She looked up and then back down at the old lady, giving a nod as though she could recognize somewhere she had yet to be. “Behind the smithy, so I'm guessing I'm right. Gladice?” Only old lady in town, from what she heard. Well, old lady of any importance. “I'm Theresa, this is Yoakim Jr.. I'm Kade's sister.” She motioned to herself after a nod down at the quiet kid that would have probably preferred to meld into the background.. which he was quite good at, what with how Gladice hadn't noticed him.

Drifting her eyes to where Teresa was pointing, the old woman finally noticed the young boy. "Oh dear..." She started when she finally understood what was happening... or at least a part of it. "Come in, honey, just... just come in..." The woman made way for the two unannounced guess to enter the house. As per usually, she went straight to the kitchen and started to make tea. That was the right way to great guess in your house. As well as getting some pastries. Get them fat so you can cook them later! MWahahahah. Okay, maybe not. She was just a sweet old grandma. "Sit down you two, I'm making tea, it should be ready soon." Concidering she always had a kettle with hot water on the oven, it didn't took long for the orange flavoured white tea, which she served to both of them. It didn't have any kind of caffeine in it, so it was good for the small boy. Of course, it was accompanied by some sweet food. The old woman then sat across the table, in front ot Tess, brought both of her hands together as if she was praying and rested her chin on the tip of her fingers, eyes closed as she though for a minute. When she reopened her eyes, she looked straight at Teresa. "You know... I had wished that Kade was only making ome sort of sick joke or something but... he really did adopted a child and named him after Yoakim, did he?" It was more of a rhetorical question than anything else, but she needed someone somewhat sane to answer it to her.

She noticed him!! A thought that was usually accompanied by nausea and excitement, was now tainted with, well, fear and dread. Yoakim Jr.'s daddy had told him so many times about how horrible Gladice was, but then he also said she was really nice and made good treats.. But she was a, um, female dog and Junior wasn't supposed to like those types of people. O-or that was what he was sure he wasn't supposed to.. He swallowed and closed his mouth tighter, grabbing Tess's hand just like he shouldn't since he was a boy, but the brunette didn't brush him off. She only followed the woman inside contently enough and sat at the table Gladice indicated. Junior hesitated in letting go, but with an urging look from his aunt, he moved to sit next to her. When the tea came, the little boy stared at it – he.. never had tea before. It smelled nice, actually – weird, but nice. So did the vapor.. He hovered his face over it to let the heat brush his cheeks, tasting it vaguely on the steam, while Theresa was busy sipping it and bearing with it.
There wasn't anything wrong with tea, but, well.. It was too.. vague? Practically flavorless. She wasn't going to reject it, though, and at least the hot water felt nice going down. She was pretty happy to see the sweet treat given with it. At least she had something to counter the watered flavor. She took a bite while Gladice gathered her thoughts, letting the kid play with the hot drink oddly. ..It was better than him muttered alone in a corner, she decided quietly to herself, and it was kinda cute to watch him be so fascinated by just a drink. Her attention was turned back onto Gladice when the woman spoke, though. “Yeah.. He did.” She answered with a frown, “Well, hey, it's not a bad name. Your son doesn't live here anymore, so, not that big of a deal.” ..It kinda was, but the kid would get over any confusion eventually. She looked at Yoakim's grandmother and felt a knot in her stomach – Oh, God, Kade was going to call her a traitor. “This is going to sound weird, but, you don't mind if you don't tell anyone we met? I don't want to become anymore the bad guy than I already am.”

"Grandson, not son" The old woman corected the youngest one. Which would made Junior her Great Grand Children? Oh God.... Then again, Yoakim and Eleonore just had one of their own... She was growing old too fast! She smiled at Tess, nodding slowly. She had heard the rumours going around about how Kade was classifying the whole LeBlanc and Vatonage family under the "demon" categories. She could understand the boy's anger, but that still wouldn't stop her from slamming her cane on his head if she was to met him. He had all the right in the world to be angry and the two lovers, but not the rest of their families. "Of course, I won't say a word...." She had already understood that the woman had came over without telling Kade about her visit. Whatever he motives were, Gladice would respect that. "Now please, do tell me what brought you here?" Surely that wasn't just a visit to meet the 'extended family'...

Oh, of course. Grandson. ...Weird, Theresa had assumed the – ah, whatever, if anything, that should have been taken as a compliment. Didn't most women get sensitive over their age? Theresa brushed off that thought and smiled at her – ha, not that bad at all. Just seemed like the classic old lady found in all of those 60s flicks or the crap novels, which was far better to come across in real life than to see in a book with a roll of the eyes. It was charming, to say the least. The air was tainted with the smell of baked sweets, somewhat like the bakery but stronger and less, well, business. Homey. It made her wonder how the hell Kade could have pegged Gladice with anything! How many exes actually went so far as to blame the sweet old lady too? She shook her head in mild wonder. Her brother just found brand new ways to amaze her sometimes – not always good.
“Well, I wanted to ask a favor.” She said easily enough, “I'm saddled with the kid now – not that I mind, he's a good kid,” She added hastily when Junior turned his head her way, his mouth quivering. Boy had gotten a bit sensitive as of late, but it was understandable. “But I've got.. Uh, a date. I thought that since you were legally family too, you wouldn't mind keeping an eye on him while I go out? It's not for long, but I don't want to leave the kid alone.” She hesitated, a rare thing for her to do, with a look at Junior, who only gave her a blank one in return. She turned back to Gladice, “He had a fight with Kade, so I don't want to leave him alone. There isn't much for him to do at the inn.” She added with a soft shrug. The old woman should understand.. and if she scolded her for ditching a kid on basically a stranger, then, well, she would just have to go find somewhere else to leave him.

Gladice bowed her head, letting a sigh out as she shook it from left to right. Oh Kade, what kind of trouble had he put himself into this time? She raised back her head with a warm smile on her face. "I do not mind keeping him here. I would enjoy the company... but..." She frowned a little, not quite sure how to bring that subject up. Instead, she took a sip out of her cup of tea in order to buy herself sometime. She kept the cup much longer than needed on her lips. It was quite apparent that she was thinking, trying to not be rude or anything. It wasn't the woman's fault. It was all of Kade's. She still had trouble to understand how the boy had been able to go through with the adoption and everything. She finally put the cup down and looked at Theresa. "About the legally part... You do know that Yoakim doesn't know about the existence of... well, Yoakim? Kade never told him anything about it and... well..." She took another moment, letting the silence trail off. "Well, he just got himself a kid of his own... I'm just saying that... Perhaps... a change in parental rights? For the kid's own good? Of course, that would mean that your brother would have a very difficult phone call to make... That is not mine, nor your business to do."

Score! ..Wait, what? Theresa blinked and stared at Gladice dumbly for a second before she caught the drift, instantly smoothing her expression into something more fitting for the situation. She forced herself not to look at Junior, who seemed blissfully unaware of what they were discussing – the kid was insecure enough as it is, she didn't want him going around thinking one of his 'dad's were gonna give him up, whether he had met him or not. Theresa was smart enough not to clue him in. But, maybe asking the kid to leave the room would have been a smarter move.. Oh, well. “Honestly? I don't think any of this is 'for his own good'.” She started, maybe a bit harsher than she intended, but, damn, what else could she say? Kade wasn't ready for a kid, especially not now, and hearing that the other guy totally was didn't sit well with her. She had doubts the other guy 'didn't know', since Kade talked a storm, surely he would have brought adopting a kid up at some point. But, Gladice was just as much of a bystander as she was, so she softened her tone. “But, yeah, I get it. We don't want to make a mess later, enough of one now.” She let out a breath and couldn't resist to look at Junior right then. She really had no clue what to do, aside from what Gladice had just suggested. “I don't think he's got the guy's number, so, if you can?”

"And him having a.... That he would never know, is better? While if the parental right are removed, he could get adopted by someone else that Kade would meet later on." Really, Gladice was only trying to help. If Kade would meet someone in the future and would get married with him, wouldn't that other man want to have the possibility of adopting Junior? Just the fact that he was named like that was already a bit far fetch. What would happen when the boy ask who's 'Junior' he is. "Ah, yes, of course." She got up and walked toward the living room where she got herself a pen and a peice of paper. She quickly wrote Yoakim's new phone number and brought it back to Theresa, putting it in front of her. "I'm not forcing you to do it. Just... jut think of it.... and maybe talk about it with Kade... Is he..Is he better? I haven't seen him in half a year and... the last time I saw him he was... Well, quite a bit delusional..."

That wasn't the issue, but Theresa wasn't going to comment. Like hell she would get into an argument with an old lady on something neither were really involved in. But, damn, she was going to dread this. Bringing up the guy was the last thing she wanted to do, let alone with a phone number and advice to cut ties completely. She looked at the number when it was written, frowning before pocketing it. “He's not delusional, if that's what you're asking.” She replied with a slow breath – ah, this conversation wasn't going well on her end. She leaned back in her chair and looked at Gladice squarely for a beat. She only looked concerned. “He's not trying to off himself, eating alright last I saw, and he's still working.” Which was better than what it could be. “But, no, he isn't alright. That's all his fault, though, so I wouldn't be worried.” Theresa took a sip of the tea so she wouldn't just be sitting there staring at Gladice grimly. Well, the old lady wasn't really connected to Kade anymore, so there wasn't any need for her to be thinking on it. “So, living alone? Seems like a big house just for you.”

Good... good. It was good that Kade wasn't trying to kill himself and was eating. Truth to be told, she was worried about the boy feeding himself, considering she had been the one cooking for him fo the last two years and a half. However, what did she mean when she said that he wasn't alright? She could only think that he was still sad over Yoakim, and there wasn't much either of them could do about that. She went back to her chair and crossed her arms on the table, looking at the two Waldroup in her house. A faint smile was still on her lips. "Ah, yes. This is my family house. Been here for around 200 years. It surprisingly survived the hurricane five years ago. When I came back here with Yoakim, I wasn't really expecting him to leave so soon. In fact, I was expecting him to take over this house for his family whenever he would get one, but.. uh, things don't always work like you think. I still have two other grandchildren on this island plus more family away, I'm sure one of them would be happy to inherit this place whenever I kick the bucket." On that, she took a sip of tea, shrugging. She knew she was old and that she would die. Why being serious about that part? not like she wouldn't be around for another 20 years anyway. No way she was dying while Gaston was still a mayor. All hell would break loose if that was to happen. "It's not so bad to live here alone, however. And I do have mister Weber that comes here once in a while to help around. He's been a great help."

Inheritance.. Hey, that sounded pretty cool. Theresa's folks probably weren't going to do anything like that – they weren't the richest and she doubted her mother was any good at savings.. Plus, the Waldroup siblings didn't have any major attachments to the house, so it was likely they would end up selling it and splitting the money between them if their parents kicked the bucket. Jacob, maybe, but the guy didn't seem the type to be sentimental over his childhood home and, really, who cared what he thought? She was the oldest and if she wanted some money, then, damn it, she would do it! ..That sounded a little cruel, but, hey, Theresa couldn't be a saint. She nodded at the woman, smiling in some form of envy at the family tradition. “Two hundred years.. Wow, practically a museum on it's own, isn't it?” She chuckled with another look at the walls. Old houses.. Always had a murder mystery linked to it, if her audio books had any say. As her eyes wandered the walls, they stopped on a clock, much to her own exasperation.
..Late. Oh, s**t, she was late! She took one last sip of her tea as some kind of punishment before standing up, “Fun as it's been, Gladice, I'm gonna have to go before my date feels like he's been stood up. Have fun with Junior and – uh, where'd..?” She looked at the chair he had occupied, which was now empty as the child had sunk below the table during the chat. He was now crouching down there with his pastry and munching it in his hiding spot, looking at the feet of the women while he chatted with his rock. Theresa didn't check for him, only blinking with a small shake of the head. Whatever, kid couldn't have wandered off far. She gave a small wave to Gladice, “He won't be much trouble. Call me if you need anything – uh, my..” No cell phone. Damn it. “Well, I'll be back. You have permission to punish him, alright? If he does something he isn't supposed to.” She was sure the old lady wouldn't do anything horrible, probably a small smack on his hand or a light scolding accompanied with a hug and cookies.

She had the right to punish him? Good! She hadn't used the chainsaw in a while... Would be what the author would say, but Gladice was too damn sweet to do that, unfortunatly. She told the female Waldroup good by and proceeded to clean the table. Once she was washing the dishes, she finally noticed the little boy under the table playing with... a rock? Well, whatever float his boat. "Do you want anything Yoa....Junior?" Calling the kid Yoakim just seemed... wrong. She couldn't bring herself to do it. "You can go watch some TV if you want, or play outside, or I think I have some chocolate cake... " All options sounded better than playing with a rock in her mind...

  ~Exit Theresa (Lazy)~
'Playing' was probably the wrong word for that – more like chattering away at the inanimate object. He stopped his conversation on how he missed his video games, carefully avoiding, even alone, the talk about the bird and those two men. He couldn't even write it down, let alone talk to Zap about it! Maybe when he was alone he could try.. Ah, but, now, he had to look at.. Grandma? No, she was.. the old lady. Tess called her that, while Kade's words for her he knew he shouldn't repeat. They didn't sound very nice and he knew he wouldn't like being called that, so.. He stared at the old lady. Watching TV? He couldn't reach the television at his old house and he was never allowed to touch it before then, so he didn't really know any shows he would like to watch. He shook his head. Playing outside wasn't as nice as talking with Zap.. He always felt awkward doing that. A second shake. Nope, nothing sounded better than – oh. Chocolate cake? Sugar made him happy! He crawled out from under the table, Zap tucked in his arm carefully. “...” He stared at the old lady some more, expectant in his wait for cake.
~D< Gladice gave the boy some cake and they watched soaps together! The End~
