Core-Ray I think you can think a relationship is cute/sweet without having the same orientation as the people in the relationship. All the girls who like Yaoi are not homosexual men, so why should liking Yuri make them homosexual women? People are stupid. I think rabbits and puppies and gay boys are cute, I also think gay girls are cute. If liking the first three doesn't make me a rabbit, puppy, or gay boy, why should liking gay girls make me gay? I do like girls, but I think even if I didn't I would think shoujo-ai is cute. I probably would not watch hardcore yuri in that case though... Anyway, it may be that most people watch media into which they can project themselves, people want to be heroes, want to be loved. They must think that if that is the kind of love you watch, that is the kind you want. They are just looking at the wrong type of 'kind' They think kind = homosexual To you maybe kind = sweet, devoted, tender Dunno, I'm tired and have been cut off from WoW...I think I'm fiending... burning_eyes This, made my day. I wouldn't know how to state it any better. I wanted to quote it here, so that anyone who didn't see it on the first page could see it here. <3

I dont think that girls that like yuri are lesbians, just becuase you like something that might be homo doesnt mean that you are.

Liking Yuri doesn't make a girl a lesbian. Hell it doesn't even make them bisexual!
Sexual attraction is a very complex thing, and some have said there is no person who is heterosexual, bisexual, or homosexual...Just varying degrees of sexual preference in between.
I'm a lesbian. Now that in itself isn't helping my point- but the fact that I like yaoi while I find no attraction to the male gender, is. I don't get turned on by yaoi; sure I blush and swoon on the occasion, but that's a natural human reaction to seeing a couple who appear to be in love or lust. That's just how it is. As humans we tend to feed off of connections with other people- whether the connections are our own or not.
Liking yuri, yaoi, shota, or whatever else you may like isn't always founded on the basis of sexual preference. Sort of like a person who compliments or applauds a band they don't really like- it isn't to their personal tastes, but just because of that does not mean they can not respect and adore the talent and ability (even aesthetics) of the musicians. ...That was probably a poor example, but I think you all get my point here.
Edit: It's almost like accusing a person of being gay just because they like rainbows. It's not very logical.

It depends. If you like it cause you think it's cute, or cause of the story or something, then that's perfectly normal (and I commend you for your open-mindedness ^_^).
If, however, you like it cause it turns you on, well... that's another story.

I've been wracking my brain to find a short, simple way to explain a straight girl (me) liking femslash.
And I did.
I just think girl/girl looks better from a third person point of view. Is that SO hard to understand? Second of all, one cute girl isn't cute enough for me. I would rather look at two cute girls doing something sweet and romantic. Third of all, I never jealous while looking at girl/girl. Jealousy is NOT fun. Fourth of all, saying that yuri makes me bisexual is like saying that since I like the manga 'Four-Eyed Prince' I have a crush on my brother
If you determine someones sexual orientation by what they look at, your system will fail.
Stereotypical system: Straight girls like Guy/Girl stuff, Guy/Guy stuff Straight boys like Guy/Girl stuff, Girl/Girl stuff Lesbians like Girl/Girl stuff ONLY Gay guys like Guy/Guy stuff ONLY Bisexuals of either gender like all three
So then what if someone likes Gay stuff and lesbian stuff but not straight stuff? *points to myself*
By the way I'm not one of those straight girls who likes a story line that just happens to have lesbians in it. I actually like femslash/yuri/soujo-ai for what it is. Every single show I watch I feel the need to pair up two girls from the show weather or not they have any romantic subtext because I find it fun to write/read and it tends to be more unique than straight pairings.
I hate getting judged for liking yuri, but my lesbian friend has it worse in the 'getting-judged-for-what-you-like' department. I'm friends with a lesbian who has a new favorite girl/girl pairing and whenever she tells a facebook friend she likes it, there like 'Well your a lesbian so of course you like girl/girl!' Whenever someone says that she feels like smacking them upside the head. I think those two girls look cute together and I'm not a lesbian and I am 100% sure that she would like it even if she was straight as an uncooked noodle. Her favorite pairing has NOTHING to do with her being a lesbian. Her personality, not her sexual orientation, is what makes her like femslash. She likes cute, romantic things.

I am a lesbian who likes yuri, but I was a lesbian way before I discovered yuri. The way I see it, you like what you like because you like it. You hate what you hate because you hate it. My point being that you shouldn't judge a book by its cover, even if that cover has two girls holding each other close while kissing, it doesn't mean its yuri.
