Once upon a midnight dreary...
"Nachiketa!"
Is some one calling me... The small cub twitched but did not move. His eyes remained closed, he wondered if he was still alive. MMM.. Maybe I am dead. the thought made him feel good.
"NACHIKETA UP YOU DEMON!"
He must be alive hear his his 'real name' Yes his name was Nachiketa but the entire pride called him a demon. He felt a large paw swipe against his back. He bit his lip as he heard something crack. He new better than to complain or act like he was in pain, he would just get struck again. He scampered up and looked at the older lion, he knew better than to say anything.
"You are in my spot you little demon."
His mother and father both looked down at him. He only glanced back up.
"Move!" His mother yelled.
He found himself being smacked into a wall by his father, he felt what ever snap out of place snap back in. He quickly slipped out of the den trying to stay out of trouble.
He was born into his pride as a prince, with his mother and father as king and queen. He was born into a litter of three, with one older brother already a teen. He was welcomed at first, that was until his litter mates and brother died on the day he was born. His parents thought it was just a mistake, they thought he was also going to die. But he didn't. Not long after he was born, kills were rare and a lot of lions were dieing in the pride. Soon he was pushed around, beaten and blamed for all of the happenings, even though he was nothing but a small cub. They were only keeping him around to do things that they did not. He would do this like distracts hyenas so the pride could chase them out of the pride.
He shivered as the night got longer, it was really cold this night. He was becoming very weak. He was only a few months old and he was being forced to sleep outside.
Over time his mother became full with more cubs. His parents were starting to be a bit nicer to him... He was quite happy for the moment. The day of his mothers labor everyone was forced out except the den mother. Finally his father was asked in. Not long after his father was right back out and picked up Nachiketa and took him deep into the savanna.
Nachiketa was placed on a rock and he watched his dad pace back and forth infront of him. "Dad whats wrong?" He asked.
His father explained that the cubs died. He explained how they thought if every treated Nachiketa nicely then he would let the cubs live. He explained how he Nachiketa kill them "with his demonic powers." And he wanted the cub to admit to it.
"I didn't do it!" Nachiketa looked up. With that his fathers paw crashed into his head and Nachiketa laided on the ground.
Later that night he woke up and scampered away. The little cub looked into the water and himself. He was slightly glowing and in the refection he could see the stars through him. He was dead... His wish came true.
