Goblin blinks at Jazelle.

she turns to look behind her

and then she blinks at Jazelle again.

"Oh! You mean us! Nice folks... heh heh.... um, maybe. And as fer wise, i don't remember when that's ever really applied t' anythin'... so I'm in. Murderin' demon brothers should never be faced alone!"

she nods happily to herself, and unwraps a mint.

Still behind the counter, Gerard duPree was idly washing whatever dirty glasses were in sight.
"I'll leave the plates 'n sort for the keeper." He said to himself under his breath.

Setting down the last of the glasses (now all clean after how long he'd been at his work), he turned toward Jill, who had been patiently waiting for the past twenty or so minutes, simply letting the time pass, as had duPree behind the counter.
"I'm sorry. I never introduced myself. My name is Gerard. Gerard duPree. And who might you be?
Oh, and don't trouble yourself about the drink. It was my pleasure."

She looks at Gerard and smiles a bit deviously, "They call me Red Hand Jill, cause when i was a wee lass, cap'n calico caught me with a bilge rat's blood on me hands." She holds up her hands as if to illustrate. "but i don't know what's become of me old crew, they got boarded by th' royal navy but ol' Anne got me to safety afore them navy dogs got aboard."

"That's quite a name, then. I mostly jus' go by me' surname, although my friends call me by me' Christian name. Those I'm not friends with call me by me' surname, or else they call me "the......"
He stops short and his eyes go blank.
As he regains his composure, he says with a friendly air, "aww, but it's not like me to brag. What were you doin' in the bilge killing a rat anyway? Or were ye' referrin to the bilgerat of the other sort??"
He gives her a playful wink.

"t'wasn't a REAL rat, t'was a man bout four times me size at the time, i coulnd't ave been more than ten. But it's a long boring story i'm not bout to waste me breath telling."

She gave a sly smile, "what's the other name they call you, that yer a bit reluctant to say?"

She smiled slightly. “You wouldn’t say tha’ if you talked to him about why he wants my head on a silver platter. But that’s a story for another day. He’ll be arrivin’ in three, two…” Jazelle pointed her left index finger just as the tavern door swung open.

The man standing at the door walked inside and stood behind his sister with a particularly ugly snarl. “Jazelle~” he hissed. And in a flash took out his sword and brought it down on her.

She met his sword with one of her own, still facing the opposite direction and leaning back on the chair. She tilted her head to look at him with the brightest smile she could offer. “Mordred, brother dear! Whatever took you so long? Are you losing your touch?”

he hooked his sword under hers and scraped the side with his blade, peeling off a layer of steel. He watched his sister wince at the sound, then he grabbed her by the scruff of her shirt and lifted her to his height, twirling his hand so she could face him. “They’re waiting for you.”

“Aye?” She rose an eyebrow. “Well, I won’t go willingly, you of all people should know that…or have you lost that too? Your knowledge, I mean”

Angered now, he threw her as hard as she could and she careened towards the opposite wall with what looked like ease. “Insufferable wench…you never WERE fit to be captain.”

She somersaulted mid air and hit the wall with her feet, allowing her to spring back and land in front of him. She twirled her cutlass around her hand. “And now I’m not, satisfied?”

"Aww, don't worry yourself about that, Miss. It's just a nickname is all. I don't want to bore you with such a story, so there's no reason to bring it up at all, now is there?"
He looks at her wryly. wink
"So, do you leave port for any reason, or are you more'r less stranded here?"

DuPree stood on guard, ready to intervene, but with Jazelle's acrobatic display, he stands at ease again to resume his conversation with Jill.
Nevertheless, he keeps his eye on the two would-be combatants.... idea

John stares at her acrobatic ability, his jaw wide open.
Upon regaining his senses he rushes to stand next to the door and watches within a safe distance.

*As the door burst open, he watched as this strange man that he'd never before seen on the island began to attack a young woman. In his book this was blatantly wrong: no matter how many times she'd stood you up...

Straightening himself, he stood to his fullest height and turned on his heel, drawing his sword as he did so. Walking straight over to where the two were standing, he ignored the obstacles in his way: chairs, tables, people.. he walked clear over them as if they weren't even there.*

"NO! BAD YOUNGIN'S, BAD! NO MAKE!"

*Standing in front of the two he looked at one and then the other. Holding his blade out in front of him, he pointed it at the two as if a nun with a ruler.*

"Miss, I thought that you'd have more sense than to let this brute handleyou as such. If you are in need of any help, you have naught but to ask and most, if not all of Provoka shall be behind you to assist you.
We protect our own... AND YOU!"

*Turning quickly, he smacks the man on the head sharply with the broadside of his blade. The man was silent, so he decided to repremand him.*

"... How dare you come in here and begin tossing young women about as if they were not but dunnage. What kind of man are you? Apologize now and be done with it or I shall be forced to take matters into me' own hands. Believe me, boy... you don't want to be on my bad side."

*Turning to both of them*

"Right, then. Now the both of you either get along or take it outside. There are children present... set a better example for little Miss Gunn.

Now, the both of you go and think about what you've done. If you two don't find a way to communicate without having to beat the other to a bloody pulp, then I'm going to have to see to capitol punishment."

Goblin picks herself up off the floor, having hurled herself back from the table involuntarily when the Mad Mad Mordred had suddenly appeared

"yeah..." she smiled nervously, shrugging her shoulders to take stock of the hidden weapons stashed in her jacket "You should listen to the Cap'n. And it's no fun, kin killin' kin."

Mordred glared at the other man and raised his hand towards him, Jazelle pointed her sword at her brother warningly, then turned her head with a smile to Kuristofia. “You’re quite right captain, I do apologize, but believe me, there will be no bloodshed...well, not from my end of the blade anyway….and Mordred here isn’t the talking sort….we’ve tried that already. I have…an idea anyway.

The tall man growled but moved his hand back to his side. “It would be?”

She looked back at Mordred, though she was still talking to the captain. Her visible eye was fierce. “There will be no bloodshed. We will have a proper duel that will determine the winner. If I win, you leave the island for good…and if I lose…

Mordred interjected. “You come back with me and die the death suited to you at sea.”

Jazelle smiled “Agreed! Would the forest be more satisfactory for my brother and I to settle our differences? The rum shouldn’t be tainted I should think…..say later tonight?”

Mordred glowered at his sister and touched the point of her blade with his finger, causing the blade and hilt to glow with heat. “Agreed.”

All the two had to do was await the Captain’s judgement.

*Having quickly drawn his flintlock, his blade had flashed into a thrusting position. He stood there listening to the young girls proposition.

His pistol drawn and pointed at Mordred's head, he lowers his blade from the throat. Uncocking the hammer on the pistol, he lowers it and places it back in its holster under his coat.*

"Hmmm... so you are asking for satisfaction, are you?
Well then, a duel it shall be. Shall you need a Mediary? Seconds? Witnessess? And what weapons shall be used? Challenger forfeits the right to choose, therefore it is left to the challengee to decide."

Jill gets up from her seat in excitement, wanting to see a good fight, hoping jezelle would allow witnesses. her mind wandered to the ornate dagger hidden in her oversized boot wondering if perhaps "sally" might finally get a taste of blood.
PostPosted: Wed Oct 11, 2006 1:37 pm

Jazelle pondered this for a moment, since her brother had technically “challenged” her in the first place. Her eyes flicked to his and she put her hands behind her back. “No seconds, I don’t want anyone else getting’ hurt by either me or him. No mediary either…but witnesses shall be allowed…It shall take place sun down at the bonfire.” She smiled ruthlessly now. “Just like we used to?”

Mordred didn’t respond to her smile. “Unconsciousness or surrender will determine the winner?”

“As it had then and as it shall here.”

“Then I’m in agreement.” And without another word, Mordred turned and left the pub, slamming the door behind him.

Jazelle sat back in another chair with an exasperated huff. “Well now… at least that was interestin’.” She put one hand behind her head and the other to her collar. “He’s gotten stronger, tha’s for sure.”

After examining her nails for a bit, Jazelle stood up and streached. "Well, I'll be off to practice for a bit. If you need me, I'll be in the forest. She gave them all a salute and walked out the door, brow furrowed in deep thought.
