I think some seperation of threads might be a good idea. I didn't realise people were going into the TTC thread like that either, that's kind of rude.
If we're able to get back onto the topic of pregnancy, my husband starts his job on Monday, which means that in just over one week I can finally get my scan and make sure junior is still in there. The amount of dreams I've been having about an empty womb or me just being fat are really playing havoc with my stress levels. sweatdrop

Well I have some very exciting news! I took a HPT this weekend and it seems that Ethan is going to be a big brother in 9 months! Andy and I are both really excited. Now I just have to call the doctor and hopefully get an appointment this week! 4laugh

eek heart Oh wow, that was fast! I knew you were going to TTC a little later this year. Congratulations!
Our Ethan won't be a big brother for a little bit longer. Hehe, we're waiting at least six more months before TTC.

Thanks! We had the same plan as you do but apparently we were meant to be parents again sooner then we planned. And apparently the doctor does not want to see me until I am about 8-10 weeks along. That kind of surprised me. So I don't go in until April 13th. confused

I think after confirming I was pregnant at my clinic, my first appointment wasn't until I was about 10 weeks either, come to think of it. Did they want to see you earlier the first time around?

Dirge- I thought they would want to see me to at least confirm it but I guess not. Last time was kind of weird, I never took a HPT. I found out I was pregnant after going to the ER for being dehydrated from the horrible horrible morning sickness I thought at the time was just a stomach bug. At the time I didn't have insurance so I didn't go to the doctor right away (applied for and got Medicaid so I waited for that to go through). By the time I went to the doctor for the first time I was already around 10 weeks. The ER doc. did a blood test so there was no need to confirm. I guess I was just expecting them to want me to come in and confirm it but I guess they are satified with the HPT results!
Luna- Thank you!

Congratulations Syl! 4laugh My ob office actually wouldn't LET me come in for a prenatal appointment until after they'd done their own urine test to confirm. I guess every office is different!

Grats, Syllandra. ^^
I think all doctors/midwives will have their own specific practices. My current midwife just asked for an estimate as to when my last period was and then we picked a convenient date around 15 weeks for the first official appointment. She didn't want a test or anything--and we picked the 15 week time since I was really vague on the date for m last period, and that would guarantee that I'd be far enough along to hear the baby's heartbeat w/ the monitor thing (I forget the exact name of it at the moment). I actually don't know what the procedure was for my the group of midwives I worked with during my first two pregnancies... I waited until I was almost 3 months along with my first before even looking for a doctor, and with my 2nd I went in for something else and got a pregnancy test too since I suspected--wanted to make sure any medication I got wouldn't cause complications.

I'm getting very nervous about my rapidly approaching EDD. I'm already feeling contractions and get somewhat excited with each. Then there's that small negative thought that pops into my head which makes me think something will go wrong. I know it's just from how nervous I am, but I can't seem to help it at times. Anywho, I plan to have a natural birth. I was just wondering if anyone alse made the same option. Any tips to help me stay as calm and relaxed as possible as I approach the moment?

Well, as long as you have realistic expectations of your birth plan, you'll be all right. I didn't plan on having a natural with my second and initially I had a lot of anger because I stubbornly had my ideas about what I wanted. Ultimately, I ended up being happy I did because of my quick recovery and having a healthy baby was something I had to remind myself was the upmost important thing!
I think we all can sympathize with the anxiety approaching the birth. Take deep breaths, keep busy, take time to pamper yourself! Also, while it's good to read up on different scenarios, don't let the bad things consume you. I found if I read those complications in the What to Expect books, I just freaked myself out.

FreeYourSoul I'm getting very nervous about my rapidly approaching EDD. I'm already feeling contractions and get somewhat excited with each. Anywho, I plan to have a natural birth. I was just wondering if anyone alse made the same option. Any tips to help me stay as calm and relaxed as possible as I approach the moment? How exciting! You're getting close! I "plan" to try for natural this time, but I won't be upset if things don't go my way. I see how birth plans don't always go as planned! It's important for me this time to be able to feel how hard I'm pushing to try to avoid another severely ruptured disc. With my first, I was induced with pitocin (I DON'T want to do that again! It was fast, but intensely horrible!) and the *% anesthesiologist didn't show up until 2 hours after he was called, and by then Jade was born 5 minutes later. I had a spinal block done and didn't feel the 5 minutes of pushing, but apparently pushed hard enough to cause a fingertip sized piece of a degenerated low-back disc to come off and lodge itself an inch and a half below where it should be in my spinal canal. Almost 6 years post-sugery for that, I now have 2 herniated discs (including the orignal one) which are in danger of doing the same thing this time. I may just have a c-section to avoid pushing at all, but we'll see how it goes. I'd rather just push nice and easy and see how non-pitocin-induced labor is. About the contractions, I've been getting frequent braxton-hicks since 3 months, and in the evenings every day I'll get them about every 5-10 minutes, sometimes quite painfully. I had them a lot with my first pregnancy too, and they said to call if I had more than 6 in an hour, but every day I had more than 6 in an hour, and that was just normal for me. They said this time I'll get them earlier, more often, and stronger, and that's held true! I'm 7 months now, and I started to wonder yesterday how I'll know when it's ACTUAL labor with them being so frequent. I figure I'll just wait until I'm leaking blood or amniotic fluid, and then I'll know it's the day. It's kind of exciting to think about! Who knows how delivery day will go, how long it will take, etc. I love hearing birth stories! As painful/momentous as the event is, it's exciting, and it's just one day! I actually look forward to it, as I did with my first.

Anywho, I plan to have a natural birth. I was just wondering if anyone alse made the same option. Any tips to help me stay as calm and relaxed as possible as I approach the moment? I had both of my boys naturally. Ty's was by plan; Luke was technically planned to be that way, but he ended up coming so quickly any birth plan was really a moot issue. For Ty though, I tried my best to rest between the contractions. According to my husband he and the midwife both thought I was asleep through most of it. For me relaxing wasn't that difficult, but I had a very supportive husband and midwife with me. The midwife kept anyone and everyone out of the room that didn't need to be there... which was more or less everyone. They kept the lights low, and I had the option of playing relaxing music if I wanted it. They really worked to make it as quiet and personal experience as possible. Best advice I'd offer would be to think about what helps you relax most because what worked for me may not work for you. Work those things into your birthplan...
