Garret only nodded, as there was a gaping wound in his side from the Anhbas' lance. The grip he had on the Lightbrand tightened as he gritted his teeth in pain.
Erik had successfully staggered to his feet and was currently making his way towards Garret and Silva, while rubbing his bruised neck. "Silva, heal him! Garret needs to live!" He croaked, wagging a finger in the injured King's direction. "I don't have... Please!"
Oblivious to all of this, what was left of the Grado army let out a cheer as the last of the dead fell, missing all of its limbs and its head.

Silva sighed softly, pulling together the scraps of her depleted magic was more then really felt she had left. Wrestling to free the physic staff from her belt, she channeled it though the staff and attempted to heal the wound, feeling even from the short distance it was a bad one. It wasn't the wound itself that made healing it difficult, it was the dark magic that refused to heal. "Course if it was easy they'd all be dead..." She muttered darkly as she battled with the magic imbued in the wound. She was exhausted, her own magic being overpowered by the darkness, the glowing staff dimmed and died out.
The fear in her heart increased as she summoned it again for a desperate try. If anything happened to Garret, she wouldn't forgive herself. Her concentration was broken by a nudge from Quel, who she soon realized was not Quel at all but the rescued Cron. It took her a minute to understand why it slipped its muzzle under her hand, then she clued in. "Let's do this." This time her magic mixed with the dark magic of the Cron, making it far more powerful then it had been. Erik had been right, it felt strange, as her light had to him. She knew how to harass and did so, the combined magic overpowering the dark magic used to wound Garret. A minute later, he was right as rain. This was the Cron's doing, Silva could claim no credit this time.
"Thanks. I know you didn't mean it." She said to the Cron who was intently looking at Garret now. If it was possible for a Cron to look worried, it was. Quel meanwhile had moved to have all of Silva's weight against him. She felt guilty, he was hurt too but he was taking care of her. "You also saved my life too." She waited for Erik, trying to stay focused long enough to be ready to heal him. "I wish I could tell you some good news Garret, I don't have any. That was only one of thirteen and I think the next armies will be bigger and far more aggressive. For now though, let them celebrate."

"Thank you," Garret said, sliding off his horse and walkingtowards Silva, offering her the sword. "Iv dat was ze best zey 'ave, den we've got no worries," he said with a weak smile.
Erik nodded, letting out a small cough. "It only took three of us and a magic horse to take it down. Nothing major, right?" He rubbed his sore shoulder. "I'm actually fine now. I think you're in need of some healing? I'm not the absolute best, but I can tide you over until Garret can call in one of his own." Garret, taking the hint, pushed the hilt of the blade into Silva's hand and ran back to his horse, which he promptly rode off in search of a healer. Meanwhile, Erik had snatched the staff from Silva and set to work mending her ribs. "You probably should invest in some armor. In fact, I might get some of my own. Whatever Valor did while he possessed me left me sore."

Quel snorted, the joke Garret had slipped in had gone right over head. Thankfully before Quel could counter argue, Garret was gone. Notably, the other Cron followed Garret and his horse. "Quel, why is it doing that?" "Garret saved its life, freed it from the control of the Anbhas, it has a debt to pay. So, since we are creatures of honour, it will serve him until it saves his life. The debt repaid, it will leave. " "Can it be a little less obvious about what it is? Also will it talk to him like you talk to us?" "Possibly to the first, that is its choice. Perhaps to the second but, likely not. Garret saved its life, not earned its trust or its respect. We choose what to tell you or if to tell you anything at all. I'm shocked its still following him at all really. It has already once saved his life by allowing you access to its magic to heal him. In essence its debt cleared in that sense."
"Come again?" "Garret saved its life and gave it freedom. It has already saved his life, Garret's freedom, Grado's freedom is not assured yet. I think it will remain until the day you defeat all twelve, then it will leave. I could ask it, that would be boring though." Silva nodded, deciding it was too much of a hassle to figure out. Erik had finished his work with her staff and the warmth of the magic though the blade was making her even more tired and less aware. She didn't want to sheath it and break the connection, she did anyway.
"Erik, are you sure you are well?" She had noticed, maybe because of the battle or she was just generally more aware of things now, that he'd been coughing a lot. She thought about what he'd said and to her mother's skeleton and attire. They were doing the same thing now were they not? She did have a light set of armor, perhaps Erik was onto something. "I think you are right Erik, despite what I am, what I have become seem to favour it." He pulled out the staff she had never seen nor knew its use. "I have no clue what this one does though, it was hers, doesn't tell me much abut it though. It's clearly not a offensive staff, healing stave or warp staff. Curious object, though its probably got a use or something." She slipped it back in its slot, studying Erik for a long moment.
"I'm just glad you're alive you know." She said quietly, "I was afraid I wasn't fast enough and you would be badly hurt or killed. You could not have come, not even Quel could enter the structure, it was blood related. Without you, I do not think I could go on a lot of the time." "I hate to interrupt this touching moment Mistress, we have a problem that kind of involves Erik." It seemed Blacky had just noticed Erik and was running over the field, clearly planning on harming him. He was small though and so Silva knew it would take a minute before Erik was actually in any real danger. "Oh yeah, I brought back a... Something."
She whistled and in mid stride the pup froze, stopped and looked at her. It then trotted over to her panting all the while. "Blacky, Erik. Erik, Blacky." It still looked wary of Erik, it probably had something to do with the connection to Valor. "I can see someone is jealous," she said to the pup. It trotted off to gnaw on the nearest fresh bone it could find. "Well, I suppose that's everything really." She sighed, thinking of the losses suffered today. "We have a continent wide war to win Erik, I just don't know..."
Quel was really looking like he wouldn't have minded eating a few of the dead himself. "They all, everything, needs to be burned. The Anhbas will use any dead, human or animal. I wouldn't be shocked to see reanimated livestock, carnivores or small creatures in a few days." Quel looked intently at Erik. "Especially rodents, decay carriers themselves. A few in the castle alone and everyone wouldn't stand a chance. This reminds me..." Quel cantered off after the other Cron.

Erik let out a sigh. "Why do I get the feeling that we'll have several other followers by the time this bloody war is over? Bah, no matter. I feel the first thing we need to do is rest, then find a competent blacksmith or some magical armor buried in some desolate tomb. If we're to be prancing around destroying undead armies, we'd best look the part."

"Well I thought he would be useful, seeing as what were fighting is weak to fire and that exactly what he is. At least, I think its a he." She was not exactly sure. Erik's joke about the magical armor reminded her of something. "I kinda of... Left that behind when I took the sword." She admitted to Erik. "Considering its spent well over twenty years in a tower of stone I wondered why it was in such good condition; must have had some magical property." Her Mother's armor was pristine, though still in the Spire.
"If you're looking for magical armor though, the only place I can see us getting that is back in Rausten. Though I doubt Lowen will be too sympathetic to our cause anymore, the Pontifex would be. I just don't know if he could spare the smith and finding the materials nowadays could be next to impossible. If I could though... I'd need the book back to check the ores..." It sounded like Silva had an idea for the needed armor. "Resting sounds rather nice, might be the last bit of it we get for a long while too." She was certainly tired enough.
