Nailah heard the pitter patter of rain and she saw the man approaching her. She could feel the hatred pouring off of him. What in the hell had she done to him? She tried to get a look at him but it was too dark. A bright flash of lightning struck hte sky and she got a clear look at the man. He was no one she knew adn he was coming in fast, knife raised to a place that would kill her on impact. She immediately allowed instinct to take over and took the bloody knife from her side. It was a bit larger than her twin daggers but she knew how to use it. She crouched down into the defensive position and tossed her knife up to parry his forward thrust. She had a feeling this fight would not only test her skills but determine whether she lived or died. The first strains of fear fluttered in Niah's stomach but she kept the knife steady.

His one knife caught against the other, him forcing his entire body weight down onto the one he held and levying his second arm on it to push harder. He was stronger somewhat and inch by inch the knife carried down under his force scraping across hers. His teeth were clenched and the part of his face that could be seen between the gap in their blades was that and his hollow eyes, like he had lost everything and this was his only payment. His hate intensified as her one arm's strength gave way and the knife swung down towards her. But there was something else now, the knife she held, a small portion of its helt split open and a living eye was there, slitted like some hideous beasts that shifted between its bearers and its assailants. From it poured even more hate, all consuming and powerful as it drove into Nailah's mind.

Nailah heard the clash of steel and felt him push her slowly down. She knew she coudn't outmatch him in strength. She felt herself go down and death seemed to be in the air. But she refused to give up without a fight. She brought her own knife up and nearly dropped it when she saw the evil eye. Her hand shook and she felt fear like a ball of ice in her stomach. It was quickly overridden by an overwhelming hate. Her mind seemed to be feeding her orders. She heard a voice that sounded like a hiss in her mind telling her to kill. Murder. Destroy. Her hand shook again and she moved out of the path of the blade. Jumping up she swung her knife in a wide arc and glared at her attacker, his hate reflected in her own violet depths. She narrowed her hate-filled eyes and with a cry that echoed around her charged him, her knife poised to kill.

K'erith glided out into the courtyard, he saw the large fire, though he did not feel its warmth. He also saw Aura, and Eclipse...the fire's reflection flickering in his eyes. he felt the urge to cause some mischief, but decided against it after todays little dispute.

"Hello Lady Aurahkah. Eclipse" he said from behind them

He was no fighter, merely trying to avoid her knife's first swing sent him reeling off balance and fell backward onto his a**. There he scrambled up to his feet just in time to feel her new weapon plunge deep into his chest. Blood poured out of the wound and he gasped to breath with a punctured lung. He fell back again, landing on the ground his hand trying to feel for the lethal wound in his torso. With his last breath he looked into her eyes, tears welling up at the thought of those he'd never see again in life, and whispered. "Murderer..."

The dream was over, and the world was as it should be. Nailah lay safe in her room as if nothing had been disturbed at all. But there was something new, laying on the writing desk nearby was a large object, the knife from her dream, more blood sprayed across it and a few drops on both the desk and the sheet of paper beneath it. Bits were blotched by blood, but the paper was covered in hastily scribbled words, a note to explain this new tool.

Aura and Eclipse both turned to see who beckoned them, then both turned their attention back to the satisfying bonfire. "Hello K'erith. Temper of yours cooled any?"

Eclipse sat done in the cool grass, preening his dark feathers by the firelight.

Nailah watched in horror as the man died. His words hit her hard and she shook her head. Hate was still prevalent in her mind but she couldn't help but feel horrible about what she had done. Her mind was battling itself. She closed her eyes and it was done.

Nailah turned over in her sleep, her face tightened from the effects of the dream. She shot up in bed and found that she was shaking. "It was only a dream. Murderer..." she whispered. "I was one...but I promised myself I never would be again..." She stood up and walked over to her window then her eyes caught on the knife sitting on her desk. The blood caught her off guard. She walked over and touched teh knife with a finger almost afraid if she grasped it's hilt, the eye woudl make itself known to her once again. She moved the blade with teh same finger and glanced at the note. Her whole body shook and she grasped the edge of the desk, her knuckles white. "It was a dream...wasn't it?" She didn't know what else to think. But the last time her dreams had visited like this...they had soon become reality.

"My temper?" K'erith inquired, "If i do recall, it was our canine friend who was doing most of the barking." he grinned. he drifted over and hovered by them.

"You really do have an amazing place here, ive been wandering around it for the past few days." and it was true, he'de been wandering for quite a while before he had gotten caught just earlier.

Eclipse snorted in a distasteful manner and turned from the direction of K'erith. "Bark...I'll show you bark..." Another snort before he went back to preening his feathers.

Aura rolled her eyes at the string of comments thrown across her mind link from the dark winged wolf. Then she side glanced K'erith, her attention drifting from the fire for a moment. "Thank you. You should of made yourself known sooner."

The knife lay silent, its eye nowhere to be seen and sealed tight. It looked so simple laying there, only its less than artistic design making it seem less than harmless. Clutched in her hand, the piece of paper revealed things she would always regret having read.

Nailah, I had never thought that I would end up causing you so much grief. Even stranger still, is the pain I feel for having left you behind. Stupid irattional girl, I had to do something to prove that we had nothing. This knife is my proof of that. It is said that it will guide you to your truest love in life, the one who will always make you happy. But it will also drive you to take his life. I came in your sleep, holding it, since neither of us are dead, we had nothing true. I'm leaving it with you now, and you wont be able to rid yourself of it. I hope that you find whoever you were meant to love and that both of you die together, leaving me free from the pain of knowing you live and arent mine.

K'erith grinned at Eclipse, "Yes, well, you saw everyones reactions at first, Eclipse seems to be the only fully dark power here," he looked into the fire, and at the red silk slowly turning black in the flames.

"besides, its much more fun to stay hidden." he added.

Nailah stared at the note reading it's words a second and then third time. She picked it up and held it in her hands tears coming to her eyes. The wound was still fresh and this only made it worse. She dropped the paper as though it had burned her. Deep down in her soul the words were branded just like someone had taken a hot iron. She'd never forget what they said and always regret this. She threw her head back and sobbed once more. "Damn you Alex..." Then she crawled back into bed praying that this too was a dream. Though she knew...all too well that it wasn't. It took a long time but seh finally drifted into sleep, thankfully left alone by dreams.

((andi t's time for me to go to bed. gotta work tomorrow))

They watched the fire die down as the silk burned all to quickly, but in a satisfying manner. When it was nothing but a pile of ash left she turned to Eclipse. "Well, you get Ecara, I'll make the bed."

"Sounds good to me." He trotted ahead of her and back inside, Aurahkah following shortly after, both to join in her room.

Nailah awoke abruptly cursing the light pouring in through her window. It seemed the sun had endeavoured to ruin the small amount of sleep she had been able to procure. She rolled out of bed thankful once again that she was not subjected to hangovers. She stretched and yawned then stood and wandered slowly toward her desk. Her stomach dropped when the evidence of the dream lay before her. In the cool light of day the blade glinted even more horrificly, the sight of the blood, now dry, a sickening reminder. She picked up the note that would forever change her and contemplated burning the distasteful paper. Then she changed her mind and she placed it in teh drawer where she kept all things given to her. It laid over top of the iced rose Alex had given her. That was fitting. His feelings in the letter blocking out the love she had mistakenly and naively believed was truly there. She laughed bitterly. The man always wanted the last say. And this time he had made absolutely certain she couldn't forget him easily. He would remain in her heart for a long long time. She shook her head and wandered into the kitchen.

Niah grabbed a bottle of wine and removed the cork taking a long pull from the bottle. Ra that felt good. She relished the feeling of the smooth drink sliding it's way down her throat. It's velvety taste was a constant comfort and she took the bottle with her. She didn't know where she wanted to go but she had a restless feeling that just wouldn't go away. She wandered out into the courtyard for a moment and saw what appeared to be the remains of a bonfire. The smell of charred silk hung in the air. She shook her head and walked back into the manor. She continued to take drinks from teh bottle until with a grimace she realized it was gone. Dammit. She headed back to the kitchen and grabbed another bottle, tossing the empty in the trash. She continued her aimless wandering until her steps took her to a final destination.

Her feet had made the decision. She closed her eyes as a wave of nostalgia and longing moved over her. She was standing in Alex's room. The room she had so efficiently closed the night before. She had told herself she wouldn't come back to this place. She blinked back tears and instead took a few gulps from the bottle. She held it by it's neck and wandered the room, touching things. She ran a hand along the dresser and desk. The closet was bare but with very little effort Niah saw it just as it had been before. Full of his shirts. They had always been so soft against her cheek. She laid a hand against her own cheek and shook her head. So many things had taken place in such a short time. She looked at the bed and her lips pursed. How many times had she lain there? With him right by her side? How many times had she felt his strong arms wrapped around her waist? Too many.

Before she had known it was happening a fireball had burst from her fingers. The lavender ball collided with the neatly made bed, instantly bursting into flames. She laughed evilly and began throwing the balls at random. She stood in the midst of the destruction laughing maniacally. Her eyes were fierce and her hair flew about her head in wild disarray. In short she looked like an angry witch. She continued to fling the magic at random. Furniture smoldered and the acrid smell of smoke and flames filled the small space. She lifted the bottle in a silent toast and then downed it. Then holding the bottle by the neck she danced around the smoldering bed. A pagan witch before a fire. She muttered things but had no idea what she was saying. She saw the floating candles on the other side of the room. Hundreds of them. They had been so beautiful fully lit in all the seductive splendor. He had been so good at that. She lifted her hand and tossed a fireball at them smiling happily when they ingnited. They began to burn like stars overhead and she watched them. She lifted her arms in sheer bliss and danced once again. She put the bottle to her lips but it was empty. Cursing she tossed it against the wall and laughed when the glass littered the floor.

Niah danced until the flames died down. The bed was charred and she had caused a great deal of destruction. Not near as much as he had done to her own room but there were piles of ash and scorched wood everywhere. Nothing was left intact. The candles had burnt down and hung limply in the air. She wanted to pluck them out one by one but was almost afraid to touch them, not sure what spell was used to keep them floating. The blood red curtains had ignited and burned so delightfully. The red haze that blurred her vision was gone and she looked around her once again. Like a pheonix she rose amongst the ashes, her eyes dry and took a deep breath. She took a final glance around the room and whispered "That's my ultimate goodbye you b*****d." Achingly she said "Goodbye my love..." Then she turned her back on the room and once again pulled the door closed. She walked back to her own room as thought she had not had a temporary breach of insanity. She had just reached her door when she elected to go the kitchen and grab another bottle of wine. She stood there after taking a sip and then figured she might as well get another one...just in case. Then swinging the two bottles by the neck she made her way back to her own room and proceeded to finish them off then fell back asleep. But first she drew the damn curtains so the sun could no longer laugh at her.

((wow...that was so much fun!!! 3nodding ))

As was quiet around the manor, as everything seemed to be the way it should. The sky was every its wholesome self, the floors were clean and without flaw. The rain fell lightly in the distance, and everything was as it should... or how they thought it should.
