Oh it could just be a metaphor for incredibly tight boarder crossing that happened during the time period. Though yes an alloy would probably still cause damage, but it would be lessened.

-waves hand- You silly.

It looks pretty rusty to me. Only iron rusts the colour of... rust. I know what you mean though. Can we say it has a mild effect?

*continues* In Russia, Sicilians are eaten for breakfast.

I thought we talked about the iron topic before, since Tok takes the most damage from cold/"pure" iron.

...you lost me on that one.

We have, but not in relation to the Iron Curtain. Steel does some damage but not as much as raw iron. The Iron Curtain would be mild against creatures with a higher tolerance and strong against those who cannot stand any iron.

Silly, Sicily. They sound similar.

Sure why not, I doubt there's enough iron to span its entirety anyway. Speaking of which, for the whole iron affecting them, is that just by touch or do they have to be injured by it? Cause I based Tok's resistance on being injured by it, not touch.

rolleyes Right... gonna have to believe on that.

You're right, a lot of it is just high fence line. It would be different depending on the creature's resilience to iron. Fairies and elves of pure bloodlines would probably be burnt and scarred by touching it. They might even feel as though a force field is pushing them away from the iron too. Lesser fairies and elves wouldn't have as much trouble with it and would just heal slower if they happened to get cut while climbing over.

confused Then by that definition Tok is a pureblood elf, or as close as she can get considering her "line" is a mostly female one, yet reacts towards iron like a lesser elf. Maybe it has something to do with how der Erlkönig turned into a tree.
PostPosted: Mon Apr 25, 2011 9:34 pm

Her father turning into a Tree wouldn't change her bloodline. If I killed your father you'd still have the same genetics.

Well, I dunno what you'll do. Maybe she just doesn't go near the Iron Curtain.

rolleyes Just forget the iron curtain stuff, since the wall of Berlin is torn down...besides that was mostly concrete.
PostPosted: Mon Apr 25, 2011 9:50 pm

rolleyes I can roll my eyes too.

You mean the Berlin Wall? Well, the Iron Curtain is still intact in places so ignoring it won't make it disappear.

Good!

What?! Really, I always thought it was a metaphor that coincided with the Berlin Wall, for really tight boarder control...not a physical wall throughout eastern Europe.
PostPosted: Mon Apr 25, 2011 9:57 pm

I thought it was an actual wall. I could be totally wrong though. I mean, I even saw photos of it and maps of where it resided.

... I was wrong. There is no physical wall.

It's okay, though admittedly I was a little confused on whether you were joking or if you were serious.
PostPosted: Mon Apr 25, 2011 10:06 pm

Nah, I was serious. I thought there was a real wall made of iron or steel. I mean, I even saw a picture of a thick steel fence with chunky chains hanging either side. No elf would be able to cross the thing in my imagination unscathed.

...Well maybe it was part of the Berlin wall. They had like...I think two walls, and a fence in between the two walls I think...or they just had a barbed wire fence before they made the concrete one.

Either way, Tok'll only experience her iron weakness if she gets injured.

On a different note, why did Tik come to visit? Aside from the coffee, I can only see them seeking each other out from either bored, or because they want to talk about something. Of course I'm probably wrong about the latter reason on Tik's part.
