Nailah stood there shock racing through her body. She felt like collapsing on the bed in tears but couldn't do it. Everyhting had fallen apart on her. She closed her eyes and tried to keep the scene from replaying but it came anyway.

She had walked into Alex's room and seen him packing his stuff into a small black bag. Looking at him in surprise she asked "Leaving?"

He turned his brilliant green eyes on her and said "Yep. This time for good."

Nailah was so confused and her face showed it clearly. "Leaving for good...but why?"

Alex had shaken his head. "I got what I came for. Now it's time for me to go."

"What you came for..?"

He sighed. "I came to get my brother."

She just looked at him. "Your brother?" she echoed dumbly.

He rolled his eyes heavenward and looked at her. "Nailah don't make this difficult. I heard that my brother was in love so I came here to see teh witch who had seduced him. I planned on messing with her and breaking them apart but you got in the way."

She had stared at him for a moment his words hitting home but she didn't want to believe them. IF what he said was true then that meant he hadn't loved her. No. She refused to beleive it. "I thought you loved me."

He shook his head and walked over to her. "You really believed it?" He laid a hand gently on her cheek. "That's so sweet. Naive but sweet."

She jerked away her eyes beginning to fill up with tears. "You did love me! I felt it! I'm an empath. You can't lie to me!" she said triumphantly.

He laughed bitterly. "And that shows how naive you really are. I never loved you. You women are all the same. Say the word a few times. A few passionate kisses and you'll do anything. You were nothing more than a pawn. A very exciting pawn sure. But a pawn nonetheless."

She shook her head in denial. "But I felt it!" she insisted.

Alex began to get irritated with her. "Look you stupid girl. I manipulated your senses! I made you believe I loved you! I never loved you. I don't know what love is!"

She crossed her arms and shook her head. "How dare you? You can't just play with people's emotions like that! Aura and Vincent were in love!"

He threw his back and laughed cruelly. "And yet again you are wrong, love. They never were in love. My brother had a bad case of infatuation. He htought of her over teh years they were apart and a desire sparked when they met again. He mistook it for love. And now he has finally realized the truth. It took marrying the b***h to prove it!"

Nailah walked forward and struck him across the face. She put all the hurt and rage she felt into it and hit him hard.

Alex wasn't expecting it so he didn't have time to duck or deflect the blow. His head snapped to teh side with teh force and his eyes narrowed dangerously. He grabbed her hand and yanked fiercely. "Watch it love. I don't take kindly to slaps."

"Don't call me that! And don't you dare threaten me." Some of the tears spilled out of her eyes and she bit her lip. Using her hands she wiped htem away quickly. She wasn't going to let him see her break down.

Alex saw the tears and small regret blossomed inside him. He hadn't meant to make her cry. Dammit why did she have to be an empath? He walked over to her and was about to pull her into his arms.

She backed away from him and gritted her teeth. "Dammit! I loved you and all you have done is taken everything I've given you and thrown it back in my face! How could you do htis to me?"

"I never asked you to love me! I never asked to even meet you! You got in my way! All I wanted was to come knock some sense into my idiotic brother...and then I saw you and it all went from there! It wasn't supposed to be this way!"

She took a deep breath and held her stomach. "Fine then...go.." she whispered heartbroken. "Just go. Get out! I said leave!"

He watched the anger come into her face and walked over grabbing her arms and kissing her one last time. He had to avoid her fists or he would have been punched hard in the stomach. "YOu shoudl thank me. YOu were still hurt over whatever happened all those years ago. I made you get over it. Grow up Nailah. Not every man who says he loves you means it! In fact with teh way you look a man would say anything to get you in bed!"

She stared at him in disbelief more tears trailing down her cheeks. She dropped her head and shook it then looked at him. "But you didn't get me in bed did you?"

He laughed. "That would have made me truly despicable. I wanted to. More than you know."

"Then why didn't you?"

"I don't know. I'm tainted, love. I'm an evil man. The destruction of my entire race rests on my shoulders. You can do so much better than me. And you will Nailah. You're better off." He walked over and kissed her cheek. "Goodbye love."

"Don't call me that. I'm not your love as you pointed out..."

Alex said nothing but hefted his black pack on his shoulder, winked and was gone.

So now Niah was standing there in shock. She still couldn't believe it had happened. She had been so happy just yesterday. What had gone so horribly wrong? How had she made such a mistake? She laid down on the bed and finally let all her tears pour. In great aching sobs she let it all out. The anger and hurt. The thought she had been so stupid. Aura. Vincent. Alex. The names ripped into her. She couldn't deal with this now. It was just too much. She buried her face in his pillow and cried and cried and cried.

Tyler woke up one room over and began to whimper. He heard horrible shouting and he was instantly reminded of his mother and father. They had always locked themselves in their room. Then he would hear his father scream and shout and his mother would cry. He heard Miss Niah yelling at a man and he yelled back at her. Then he heard her cry. He slowly slipped out of bed and walked into the room. He was a little afraid he would get hit for interfering but there was no sign of the man that had made her cry. He slipped into the bed and curled his small body against hers, hugging her.

Nailah lifted her tear stained cheeks and looked at Tyler. "Sweetheart go back to bed. I'm fine...really."

In answer Tyler put his arms around her and held her while she cried.

Bastet stood out in the rain at the top of a tree attempting to practice. It was late in the day as whatever sun was quickly drowned beneath the horizon. Lightning lit the sky every few seconds accompanied by a thunderous boom. She was no empath, but it seemed like one of the storms that nature would have in reaction to a great injustice. A crime, death perhaps. Or maybe this was telling of a greater storm coming. A mere preview of a wrath to scare and haunt, to make nervous and sloppy those who lay in it's path. However, it would not work on her.

She took a shuddering breath letting the rain come down and wash her clean of her sins past and present, so that she could help those that seemed troubled around her. In every inch of the Manor there were secrets. In every suspiscious expression or mannerism there holds a hidden meaning, burrying deeper what only half wants to be discovered. For without such discoveries, beings would be slaves to the secrets, bending their words around the lies, never truly saying what they mean. Thus never being true about anything. With one secret comes many lies.

She held out her right arm in front of her palm flat, facing away from her. Closing her large, wild eyes, she bowed her head as her ears twitched from another fist slamming down on the earth, striking a tree in the distance and with a crack and a gust of wind the tree toppled. Mother nature was indeed angry tonight.

With a slow movement she grabbed a sai attached to her leg and without hesitation held it up above her head. A string of lightning awaited with her the target. It came down to channel into her sai and with a yell of determination, she put up a barrier that reached all around her and just above the tip of the sai, stopping the rain. Amazingly the lightning, with it's original path distorted, traveled down the sides of the barrier and struck the tree that was her pedestal. The tree cracked and split knocking her from her perch rocketing to the ground, barrier gone. With grace she turned and fell with her hands and feet down, landing on her feet first, the fragile bones buckled and broke, her hands preventing her from face planting on the ground. A scream of pain and she concentrated on healing herself, her feeling of need aiding her there. With a flop, she fell back in the wet grass, "Well, that was interesting."

After letting some time pass, the cat woman stood and walked back to the Manor, no longer caring about the rain that soaked her through. With her arrival through the phoenix door, she walked in and sat by the fire letting it warm her skin, but not her heart as she sat and thought some more about her little experiment and the people that lived here.

The elf seemingly floated across the floor, and stood quietly behind the cat woman. He watched the fires for a moment, and then began to speak. "Hello, Sweet Bastet. How doth the rain do fall these days, like a choking myst of utter despair."

Cymarron woke, somber and weary. three more times he'd been toyed with by the one who held his leash, jerked awake by the lack of air, and then let go. he saw Eclipse and Aura...but could tell by how they moved it was best not to disturb. However right nwo the one on his mind was Nailah. she hads talked about speaking to him later, so he sought her out. he came to teh room her scent was strongest in, and clawed on the door lightly.

Bastet sat there quietly for a moment and stared into the dancing flames watching as they licked up to the chimney, reaching for the sky and the wrath outside. She moved the wet hair that was plastered to her face, and straitened it a bit. When Nelphean walked up behind her, she was unsure of what to think, she maintained in her mind that he was distracted last time they parted, "Choking and drowning indeed. However, it can be seen as despair, impending doom, anger, or even cleansing, it depends on the purpose you hold for it in your mind." She toyed with the sai she had thrown aside when she had settled. "It did not melt like last time, that tells me that the wrath of a child empath's lightning is more fierce than the storm outside. Though it could grow worse..." She turned her head slightly, "How are you today? What message does the storm send you?"

Vik whistled lightly as he walked down the hallway. His head was crowded with thoughts. Thoughts of his home, thoughts of his fate, and most of all, thoughts of his family. "Family..." Vik stopped right in the middle of the hall. The thought had finally sunken in. He had finally realized what he had lost and what his family was losing, their now one and only son. How would they react when they found out that he had become one of them. The sounds of sobbing broke Vik's chain of thoughts. Vik blinked, confused. He looked around and realized that it was coming from Nailah's bedroom. Silently, he approached the door and cracked it open. He took one stepped inside and saw Nailah crying. "Nailah...?" Vik whispered inaudibly. She seemed so hurt and it pained Vik just as much to see her that way. He opened his mouth, but decided against talking. She needed time alone. Quietly, he stepped out and closed the door behind him. "Poor Nailah..." Vik thought, "There has to be something I can do to help..." Suddenly, an idea sparked in his head. He waited a few seconds to make sure Nailah wasn't coming out before running off in the direction of the kitchen.

Nelphean kissed Bastet softly, for a long moment. "The rain tells me that the Earth is well..." The elf listened to the sounds of the dieing fay... "The winds on this plane howl with the pain of many centries of war..." Nelphean wraped his arms around Bastet, "When we were dreaming together, when you woke up, I felt traped in your mind... I think I saw a wizard... or a bear..." Nelphean smiled and held her closer, "I tried to awake from my spell, but could not... Only after you had left, and become scarce could my mind reopen to the world... It was like something had prevented me from awakening."

Bastet responded to his kiss which pushed back the tide of her harsh emotions and calmed her greatly. She gazed into his eyes, "The Earth needs to be well for the new scars that shall brand it. The cycle all go through of scars and healing." Her arms encirled around his neck as she touched gently at the back of it with her claws. No pain, an affectionate touch. "How odd that you were trapped and I did not know it. It must not have occured to me in my conscious state." Then she laughed, "Well was it a wizard or a bear? There is a small difference between them you know. I do not like knowing that there was someone else in my mind besides you... Do you have any idea what that something was?" They could have done something to her subconscious, something that is laying dormant for now.

"A memory..." Nelphean held Bastet close to him, and smiled from her claw's play on his neck. "You have the most gentle touch, with those mighty hands... Should it be me, to be so lucky, as to have those claws rub my neck..." The elf's eyes sparkled, and he leaned forward and kissed Bastet again.

"Did you think I no longer cared for you?"

He moved away form Nailah's room, and down to the main room, by the elf and Bastet...and moved over to them.

"Elf kin was here. a male. Cymarron did not know if you wanted to know, or if you chose not to see them while they were here. But Cymarron thought to tell you anyway."

He spoke slowly, testing before he spoke to make sure he would be able to speak the words, before he moved to the couch, and flopped against it, just watching.

Vik slammed the refridgerator door shut."Obviously!" he shouted at himself, "No Saradin means no cheesecake." He flopped down on one of the chairs, disappointed. He knew Nailah loved cheesecake, and it could probably brighten up her mood. "You sure picked a good time to leave, Saradin..." he thought. He gave a deep sigh and slumped even lower on the chair. "Wait a minute..." Vik suddenly sprang up and ran out the door, "Saradin's not the only one who can make a cheesecake! I've seen him do it plenty of times, it doesn't look that hard."" He continued down the hallway and barged through the library door. He immediately started throwing books off the shelves, looking for something that might help him. "Aha!" He held up a red-colored book out in front of him, the words "117 Deserts Recipes" was stamped in gold letters on the cover. "It's perfect!" he said, leaping over the mess of books he had just made. He made a mental note to clean it up later as he ran back to the kitchen.

"What about a memory?" She was against him and with his other comments she became slightly distracted. He could really do that to her sometimes, just pull her off a path and stick her one of his choosing. And with another kiss to respond to, she could really feel it. She did not seem to mind it much however and continued with the light stroke across his neck, moving into his hair some. The sparkle in his eyes catching in hers. "I choose whether my hands will smite or not. It is not luck but a returning of what was given. I do not know what I thought." she turned slightly to Cymarron, "Hello." Afterward she simply listened. Elf kin? Uh -oh.

Nelphean's head turned slowly towards Cymarron, "Was he wearing Black armour or not?" Nelphean had two male elf kin nearby, his murderous father who wandered about with Nelphean's whore of a mother, and a valient son. His eyes keep hold on Cymarron, sensing more than what was said, but Bastet's words brought his attention right back to her.

"Sweets for the sweet, perhaps you would like some flowers?" The elf winked, "I know where a lovely bunch is, just waiting for you." The elf smiled.

"Cymarron did not notice..Cymarron had an..incident...to which your kin was a soothing assistant in helping Cymarron through. sang to Cymarron in elvish. Aura seemed pleased with his presence as well, if this helps."

he gave a slight twitch of his ears, and moved into a sitting position, tail wrapping around his waist.

"Cymarron asked if he should fetch you, but no one agreed to it, and Cymarron did not want to upset the elf if he did not wish to see his kin. some Vah who do not seek to be around kin will find excuses to kill thier kin. cymarron did not want that kind of conflict brought up."

She flicked her tail and noted the ignoring of her question and simply ignored it as well... for now. "You are going to spoil me. And where would these lovely flowers be that you are hiding from me? Or do you have other maters to attend to?" She listened again, and then watched her elf.
