Niah smiled as the little girl tried to get the tasty treat from the fork. She waited for Ecara to finish with it and then heard her question. Niah remembered Aura mentioning that Ecara learned by association. And apparently she wanted what she was tasting. "Taste is the way you think of certain kinds of food. Cheesecake," she nodded to the plate. "Tastes sweet." Then Niah walked over to the fridge and pulled out an orange. "Oranges," she said holding one up. "Tastes tangy. You see?" She bit her lip for a moment. She wanted to make sure Ecara understood. She reached in the fridge and pulled out a bar of chocolate. Breaking off a piece she handed it to the little girl and took a small piece for herself. She demonstrated eating the chocolate and said "How does that taste Ecara?"

Taking the piece of chocolate she was offered she first sniffed it, then took a bite and chewed, then swallowed. It had that same odd taste that the cheese cake had. A fanged smile and she looked up to Niah. "Sweet." She knew she had gotten that one right and once again turned to he mother. "Mommy," A point to the cheese cake and chocolate. No response and she huffed then turned back to Niah. Reaching up she took the orange that Niah had in her hand...and started chewing on it, trying to use her fangs to break it's skin to get at what she wanted inside. Still hungry.

Niah laughed and took the orange from the little girl. "Very good Ecara. Cheesecake is sweet and chocolate is sweet." She peeled the orange and handed it to her. "What's the orange taste like?" Niah could feel the girl's frustration and felt sorry for her. She looked at Aura who seemed to be lost in her own thoughts. What is she thinking? I wonder if it's something to do with whatever happened that night... Concern for her friend filled Niah and she felt Aura out. She seemed to be upset and Niah remembered that she had gone quiet when Ecara said baby sai. Her gaze wandered over Aura and she noticed her sais were gone. She wondered where they were. Then she saw something that had her narrowing her eyes. "Aurahkah? Why is Soulforge broken and it's hilt in your belt?" Niah felt the sadness emanating from Aura and she wanted so badly to know what had happened. "Aurahkah?"

He just watched with amusement.
"Cheesecake. Bah. nothing is sweeter than a good peice of meat. especially Ogre meat. so fat and big and juicy becuase all they do all day is hurt eachother and others and sit around."
Not to mention personal reasons..the Breakers had been ogres. it was almost a genocidal need to strike back at that race.
"Cymarron thinks he may have something to perk up the rest here. Cymarron's learned when he learned to make alcoholic drinks.."
and he began rumaging around for supplies, vanilla extracts, tons of sugar, ice cream, and eggnog. when he located all his supplies, and put them all in a bowl and mixed them with his usual hunting speed of hand, and poured the concoction into glasses for everyone.
"the barbarian called it a sugar suicide. Cymarron never made one for himself, but though it might be something to give others here a slightly bit of enjoyment."
He passed out glasses, until he remembered Eclipse wasn't humanoid, and poured his is a bowl. then he sat, waiting for someone else to try it first.

"Tangy!" She exclaimed happily, plopping down in the floor at took to eating her new found food.
Aura's hand clenched into a fist on the table, as the other dropped down to lightly touch Soulforge...or what was left of it. Bring that hand up to rest on the table it too clenched into a fist. She was trying to keep her composure, not cry or anything that might upset Ecara or throw Niah into an empath attack. At least Eclipse was asleep on the floor. She didn't have to have him trying to explain and making things worse. "I..um...I don't know why Soulforge is broke...but I do know that...Saradin's gone." She paused. "Not dead gone...just gone...like last time I guess..." Another moment to try and hold her composure. She stared at one of the glasses that Cymarron had made for distraction.
"Saradin Phoenix gone."

Niah looked at Ecara and smiled "Very good Ecara." The girl picked things up so quickly. It was amazing how fast her mind worked. She looked at Aura in shock. "What do you mean gone?" Niah felt an icy cold grip her. "Aura does this have something to do with what happened the night before last?" She knew she was pressing her boundaries here but at this point she didn't care. "It does doesn't it. You fought with him." It was not a question. "Or you know who did. You know why he's gone and you know why Soulforge is broken. Aura...I know it's hard but please tell me what happened." Niah sensed the sadness in Aura become even worse. There was also a taste of fear. Fear of what though? Did she think Niah would hold her responsible if something had happened to Saradin? Niah didn't know what to think at this point. She sighed and looked at the glass in front of her. She stared at it for a moment and then took a small sip. She swished it around in her mouth for a minute and said "Sweet. Interesting name...sugar suicide...I'm wondering if there are some side effects I need to watch out for."

"Cymarron remembers when he lost the old one. the Keeper came to his cage, and smiled at him, and told him he had killed the old one, he had grown useless. Cymarron still remembers that pain and sorrow. but the Old one is not gone forever. Cymarron sees him sometimes, hears his voice. he became one of the Ancestors. this one, you call Saradin...is like the old one, yes? someone close that has gone..though your saradin may still live, reguardless of a broken weapon. Misery eats the spirit when locked away. Cymarron has seen it many times. it eats it away, and doubts form, and soon the spirit lacks the will to survive. it withers. Cymarron has shed tears for others. Cymarron would tell you to let your pain free, before your spirit is poisoned by it."
A rare moment of philosophical insight from the hunter.

"Honestly...I don't know what happened to Soulforge, I found it already broken outside my door...Saradin didn't use it when we fought...yes, we fought him, me and Eclipse. He wasn't himself...at all...and he wanted to kill me." She shook her head almost as if not believing her own story, as it was replaying in her head as she explained it to her audience. "He transformed...his true shadow powers emerging...my sais...were shattered and busted by him...we fought till Eclipse came, then they fought..." A pause. "Then we used Ecara...and...that's it...I woke up in the infirmary..." A almost void look over to Cymarron as she acknowledged him. "Saradin is a trusted friend..."
Ecara gave a whimper, abandoning her orange to come to her mother, leaning her head in her lap for comforts sake. "Mommy."

Niah dropped her fork onto her plate with a clatter. Her eyes drifted closed and she tried to gain some semblance of control. Saradin was gone...again. She knew Aura had fought him. She coudn't say just how she knew...but Aura had only confirmed it. She moved away from the fridge and set the plate on the counter. Passing by Aura she layed a hand gently and then walked to the window. Contradictory feelings were passing through her. Anger at Saradin for fighting with Aura and a deep sadness that she wouldn't see her dear friend for Ra knew how long. She looked out the window at the courtyard and closed her eyes. One lone tear trickled down her cheek and she wiped it away. "Cymarron's right Aura. You have the urge to cry...I can feel it. It's not your fault." Although I can't imagine why he was trying to kill you. This was a very odd situation indeed. She fought the rest of the tears that wanted to spill and walked back to the table. "Whatever happened Aura...it wasn't your fault." Niah wondered to herself how much she truly believed that.

Lifting Ecara into her lap, she stroked the small wolf girl's hair, an action of comfort for them both. Then she gave a bitter laugh. "It is my fault Niah. We fought for something I did that no one else outside a small group knows about. A secret I kept from a few of you. But there's no misplaced blame here, this time it really is my fault. I'm sorry Niah." She paused and sighed, hugging Ecara. Now she was just remembering using the poor child as a tool...and even though it was her true purpose it felt so wrong to even think of such a thing.

Niah could hear the despair in Aura's sentences. It was almost tangible. She looked at Aura again. "You kept it a secret. So many secrets...they just tear us apart. Can you tell me now?" Aura sounded so dejected. It scared Niah. She took a deep breath and thought of Saradin. He was always cooking. And he always had plenty of cheesecake. She wasn't sure if he made it for her specifically or just for whoever wanted it. She sighed again. "Aura I hate seeing you like this. Tell me...please?" She thought of the image she saw of Aurahkah with a wolf's helmet on. The blue streaks in her hair had clued her in that it was some kind combined form of Ecara, Aurahkah, and Eclipse. "What about Ecara? Was she involved?"

Aura's hands came up to cover Ecara's little wolfish ears, not wanting the girl to hear what she was about to say. She gave a half smile when Ecara's hands came up as well to help shield her own ears. Aura then looked from the table to Niah. "A man named Khai was here once. A friend of mine from the village who betrayed me and threatened everyone here...even hurt Khenu. In my revenge I sought on him I subjected him to torture down in the basement in one of the vaults. He eventually died, not by my hands, but died none the less. Saradin...I don't know how he found out...but he spoke of justice to my act of cruelty as he put it." She paused again, eyes slightly shifting to Ecara. "Ecara...is what's called a bond child. Something that can be created from those who are soul bound. A bond child...is a catalyst to a merge that can be done between bond partners...the ultimate linking and sharing of powers and abilities between them. We used her against Saradin...turned her into her "warrior form" if you will. I hated doing it...but Saradin had even turned Eclipse against me...we would of all died..."

Well no one seemed interested in the sugar drink, so he decided he woudl try it first, and guzzled it down. his eyes got wide, and the smacked his jowls a bit, licking excess off.
"Cymarron doesn't think parents would want children to have these."
Again it was some attempt to add humor to a bleak situation, but his ears dropped when it appeared no one was even the least bit amused. he snorted, and plopped down on his side, looking for the moment very much like a large cat on the floor, tail swishing back and forth. but as Aura started to talke about what Ecara was, his ears perked up and his head lifted to look at her quizzically.
"Ecara is your...Beast?"
he too had an alternate form, one he hated to let loose despite it's power. the Beast. a physcial maifestation of all the hate, anger, voilent rage of not only himself, but the remenants of the people he'd eaten that were left in his mind and soul. coudl that little thing be the Beast of aura and eclispe? he simply couldn't see the child as such a weapon.

Niah listened to her story and waited while she absorbed it. "We have all done horrible things Aura. I myself have killed and mine was not even justified." She shook her head beating back painful memories. "It sounds like yours was justified. Especially since the people in the manor were in danger. You were doing what was best for everyone. And I can't find any fault with you for that." She bit her lip for a moment and thought about Saradin. "Maybe he misunderstood." She could think of no other reason why he might try to kill him. She looked at teh little girl and nodded. "That's interesting." She thought about it for a minute. "I'll bet she's a heck of a warrior." She looked at Cymarron. "Don't even think about giving that to Tyler." she nodded at the drink. The boy would be on a sugar high in fifteen seconds flat.

"Don't' think of her like that." Hands still over the girls ears. "Last resort...only as a last resort would I ever use her like that. She's not just some tool to fight with...if she was, she wouldn't have feelings and she wouldn't learn like she does...and when she is used, her eyes are so void, it tears at you." She shook her head as if trying to get rid of the words she had thought up herself. Both pairs of hands dropped from the girls ears.
Ecara twitched them, blissfully unaware about what had been said of her. As far as she was concerned they were just playing a game where her hearing wasn't to be used. Showing off little fangs as she smiled her attention focused on the glass on the table and she grabbed hold of it, sniffing at its contents.
