I stand watching the students, being firmly reminded of a Saturday Night Live skit with John Belushi as Samurai Delicatesin. I laugh to myself and step back in order to allow full movement of the students.

Trabin leaped out of the shadows, with a string of cold cuts, flinging them at whoever had a sword "THIN SLICES!" and flipped back to a counter that had rice dough and a pot of tomato-sauce bubbling.

i walk in and see everyone making food??? i walk to the sensei and bow and take a seat watching intensely at the frenzy of flying lettuce and ask the sensei "what is happening?"

"We are practicing using moving targets with our blades. Guiding your blade through a head of lettuce is just like... well... the same with a human's head. And Slicing ham clear through the bone is just like... Okay, okay you should get the picture." I toss a slab of ham into the air and slice clear through the bone with my katana, letting it fall onto a slice of rye bread and handing it to scullus. "Would you like anything else?"
