Bael felt the claws cut into his flesh, but didn't move. The injuries were not deadly in any way, despite the tremendeous strength the beeing in front of him had, but if nothing was done, Bael knew that he would have to fight back or face certain death. He glanced at the elf and saw him use some magic. This time, however, he didn't try to interrupt. He didn't know what kind of spell it was, but right now that was less important.

Rose looked up suddenly at the girl who had appeared in front of her, and aimed her arrow. She tried to straighten up, but found she couldn't. Looking down, she saw her cloak was stuck in a few thorns that were sticking out from the bush. The roar was almost deafening, so Rose doubted that the girl could hear her question, but figured she should asked anyway. "Who are you?" she demanded. She tried to look scary, but could tell she was failing; her eyes were screwed up againest the noise, and she was scared out of her mind. Plus, she wasn't in a good postion, stuck in some stupid thorns. Rose wanted to smack her forehead; she had been so stupid! Standing in a bush with thorns... She tried to back up, but almost fell over. Oh yeah... she was stuck alright.
Clenching her undersized bow so hard that her knuckles turned white, Rose looked up at the girl and asked again, "Who are you?", even though she was feeling much less brave.

If the situation hadn't been so tense, Pen would've found the girl's situation comical. "Don't worry, I'm not here to hurt you." She looked at Bael and gulped. "I was traveling with the dragon out there, but we stopped to help the elf, and then that crazy bear started attacking." She eyed the bow. "Could you put that thing down? It's making me nervous."

Rose stared then shook her head and said, "Traveling with a dragon... stopping to help elves... and a bear attacked you..." There was no way she would believe that kind of story. This person was trying to trick her... and there was no way Rose would fall for it. Trying to look menecing, she raise the bow a little higher, though her hands were shaking.
She would never be able to actually shoot at anything... not that they would get hurt if she would; her arrows were sticks that would probably just give you a sharp poke, not any real damage. Rose only had the bow to look scary and prevent actual fights.
Looking around, Rose saw the bear, and the elf, and even the dragon, but still thought the story sounded fishy. Anyway, the girl would probably get the dragon to eat her if she lowered the bow. Rose shivered at the thought. "I asked you b-before..." she said. "Who... who are you?" She would have to stall until she could get free of the thorns. They poked sharply at her legs and arms, but Rose didn't move. She could feel her cloak tearing.

((Whoops, my bad sweatdrop ))

When the dragon before him showed no reaction, this only infuriated him even more. Was he mocking him? What ever the case, he thrashed even more fiercer than before. The forest's incarnates took notice and decided to aid their channeling druid. Following every of Odik's swipes, a cloud of spiking green motes rushed in piercing every inch of flesh they came in contact with.

In the corner of his eye he saw the elf casting his spell and took no notice. Had he been sane to begin with, he would not have cared anyway. The forst would protect their accolytes, raging or not. Or so he was raised to believe.

...The stun spell didnt even seem to affect the monstrous creature. He was half surprised as it apparently just bounced off of him. He was doing no good and the dragon just stood there. This was not going to end anytime soon. He struggled to think of a new spell to temporarily paralyze the enemy. He knew none. He decided the only way to stop his cruel attacks was physical attack, though he knew the chances of it affecting it was slim. He pushed Bael aside, knowing that he would just anger the already angry beast more, and cause more damage to himself. He then pulled out a knife, jumped back a few meters and tossed the dagger, hoping to slow him down...

Pen sighed in exasperation. "I suppose that story would sound crazy. Look, I'm not a foe! I don't even carry a weapon." She turned her hands palm up, showing they were empty. "The dragon isn't a foe, either. Well, unless you know something about that bear, but I don't think you do. Please believe me." Her desperation was plain on her face.

Rose faltered at the look on the girl's face, and her bow dropped a few inches. "Did I really look that scary?" she wondered. "Can... can you at least tell me who you are?" She looked up at the girl. "Well..." Rose thought. "...I still can't be sure... maybe I better run?" She put her bow down a few more inches, so that it was pointed at the ground. Making a sudden descision, Rose dropped her bow and jumped up, trying to run. She found that she couldn't move very far though, and the only thing that came of her sudden action was that she got several deep scratches on her arms and legs, and her cloak got several larger holes. "Ow!" she said softly, falling back into the bush and nursing her stinging arms. Suddenly remembering the girl, Rose looked up, terrified.

Ivy had been watching the entire exchange between Pen and this young girl. She slowly stood up so as not to frighten the girl and moved over to her. Kneeling down next to her, firstly to get to her height and secondly to relieve the pain in her side, she started to take the thorns out of her cloak and her arms and legs. She looked into the scared girls eyes and gave her a slight smile. "Don't worry, we wont harm you." She said softly, knowing her voice would crack if she spoke any louder.

Pen wondered what this girl had gone through to be so untrusting. She looked at Ivy, whose face seemed unusually pale. To the girl, she said, "I am Pen, and this is Ivy. There. Now you know who we are. Can you trust us now?" Without waiting for a response, she joined Ivy in untangling the child.

Rose withdrew from Pen and Ivy as they began to untangle her. She remained silent, and stared up at them as though she couldn't belive her eyes. "Are they... helping me? Or are they just trying to get me untangled to eat me?" she wondered, flinching at their touch. She moved back a bit farther, and felt a thorn scratch her cheek, and the blood trickle down it. Ironic... Rose hated thorns.
She wanted to run, her usual option, but stayed still and quiet, like she usually was. "I'll be fine..."She thought. "Only a few scratches. But what are they doing here? And why are they fighting?" The questions swarmed her mind.

Pen sighed as the girl-child cowered before the two older girls. She muttered to Ivy, "I don't know what it's going to take to get her to trust us." A thorn pricked her finger. "Ouch!" She sucked gently on the wound and returned to her task. Feeling somewhat awkward, she tried to talk to the girl. "So...Are you an elf? I've met a few, but never one who looked quite so young."

Rose nodded shakily. "I wonder if they hate elves..."She thought. Looking around for something, Rose spotted Ivy, who caught her eye. She was helping untangle Rose. Rose was curious. Not just about why they were out here, but about Ivy. "H-hey..." She looked up at them, then quickly looked back down. "Is... is she okay? Are you okay?" She had noticed that Ivy looked hurt, and was worried.

Pen was so overjoyed in hearing the girl speak that she almost didn't get was she said. She looked at Ivy and wondered if her injuries were more serious than she'd originally thought. "Are you well enough to be moving around? Perhaps you should rest." Pen looked over the bush. "We don't know if we'll need to run, so don't use up your strength."

Rose looked around, confused. "Why would we need to run...?"she thought. "Was the fighting that big a problem? And why were they fighting anyway? Maybe because of the fire...?" She shook her head. She was almost free and they hadn't hurt her yet. Maybe, just maybe, they weren't 'foes', and the girl called Pen had said. Maybe they really weren't there to hurt her.
"So..." Rose asked, looking up at Pen. She was almost free. "Is she okay? What happened to you guys?" She felt a little better as the thorns that were poking her skin was removed. Looking around the bush, she asked, "Why... are they fighting? What happened?" Rose's natural curiousity was overcoming her fear.
