"Because when you get to be adults you can take care of yourself. The state will let you get a job or house and won't try to sell you into slavery just because you don't have parents." Meris replied coldly pacing on the other side of the line, waiting for him to cross it or leave.

~~He gave a small, shy smile and sighed lightly.~ What about adults.. who cannot take care of themselves or get a house and job? ~He wans't much talking about himself, but there were times when he felt quite helpless. His eyes than looked back down apon the line, wondering if he should cross it or not. He than stepped over it, half expecting some invisible force to push him away.~

Meris shook a little at the idea, suprised he would offer that question. "I'm not sure. I never asked Darren and it never came up." Meris watched as the unicorn crossed the line. The raccoon pulled out the collasped polearm and stretched out the length of the staff. He then proceed to hit the unicorn in the knee with the staff end, avoiding cutting him with the blade. "I suppose it's cause almost all adults interested in us are either intending to sell us into slavery or intend to just use us as slave labor." He hissed as he whacked him. "Can you prove you don't intend to do either?"

~As Meris hit his knee with the staff end of the polearm he stumbled a bit but didn't fall. He looked down to his knee before looking back up to Meris.~ Firstly.. I don't think I look like the type to enslave anyone.. and.. if i was planning on doing either, I would have merely taken Alice instead of letting you catch up to her.

"Then why didn't you just walk away?" Meris asked striking out at his other knee. He felt bad hitting a man who seem unwilling to defend himself, but he seemed to have little choice. The coon had given him full warning, but he was right he didn't look like the type to enslave anyone.

~This time, as the staff end came at him, he moved his leg up and slammed his foot down on the polearm, forcing it to the ground.~ I don't much appreciate your hitting me... And..I'm just curious..

Meris took that chance to knee him in the crotch, a tatic well know to any ten year old boy. "I'd rather not hit you, but I can't let you follow me. Darn it.. your really are a man." He said taking a step back from him.

~As Meris kicked him, he fell to his knees holding himself. He held himself back from letting out an awkward neigh of pain. His hair fell over his face as he stayed there a minute, his horn now glowing a dazzling blue. He stood up slowly, no longer holding himself. The pain left his body as his horn glew. He stared to the ground before turning away.~

"Darn adults." He sighed pulling up his polearm, "Those other two are going to be a problem when it comes time to have a meeting of the minds." He huffed frustratedly, "About the only person they'll take seriously is Darren or anot.. her adult." He grinned a little bit as he looked over at the unicorn. "Do you really want to see where we will and how we live?" Meris asked, moving to a less threating stance.

Nothing escaped Anyan's eyes. Even two little peices of wood half-buried in the desert sand.
Picking the chits up, he blew on them to get the sand off, rubbing it against his flowing robes of tan-colored silk, identical to the color of the sandstone walls of the city. The FireWalker liked silk; it made little noise in the wind, and if he tied it up against his body, it clinged, making it hard to catch on and rip. Also, once doused in a little water, it was nearly fireproof, useful so when he needed to burn something up, maybe even himself, the Captain wouldn't be running around naked afterwards. Red eyes with no whites, not even pupils, sightlessly scanned the rooftops. Rooftops were just as legal as roads in this city, and just as much as a room than the kitchen or bedroom was. That girl - Lanen - would be there. And once he caught her, the punishments would be severe.
"Run while you can, little kitten... Hide you cannot."

~Uni turned around with a smile on his face and clapped his hands together, much like an excited child.~ Yes. ~He cocked his head to the side lightly when he spoke.~ I would very much like that.

Lanen, in fact, was not on the rooftops but in a secluded alley area that was practically only accesible from the rooftops. It was a home away from home for her and she had kept a blanket there for days when she was just to lazy to head back to the hideout. She kept herself there now and after hours of thinking of how she might escape the city she fell asleep, wrapped in the blanket and nicely secured by some crates and what not.

"Woah not so fast chief. See there is one little problem. You can't know anything about how to get there. In order for me to take you with. Your going to need to be unconscious. I promise that I'll take you with, but there isn't any other way." He leaned on his polearm like a staff, awaiting his reply.

~He sighed out loudly and lowered his head a bit out of slight aggrivation. He soon raised his head once more~ Couldn't you just.. blindfold me? ~He hoped Meris would say that was fine, seeing as how, with his healing powers, he would wake mere seconds after being knocked unconsious.~

"See, some peoples hearing and sense of smell is too for that. But Even if you only out for a little bit I can probably carry you far enough that we should have to worry it to." He cut a laudry line with the blade of his polearm and motioned for the unicorn to turn around.
