I've yet to finish Angel, so I haven't seen any of those episodes yet. I've heard a lot about it though, and yeah. Still gay. Even if they weren't his slayers, all of the other hints totally outweigh that little thing.

I Am fairly sure he's streight, there is a little thing called metrosexual (streight but seems gay)
they did show him dating two girls in Angel, the only reason he seemed gay was if you look at his past he was really dorky and didnt know verry many girls, so he never really was able to show his affection the same way.
I Mean people thought i was gay, just because I hung out with all girls and worked in the shoe department at Wal-Mart, until they saw me with a girl.
I hang out with girls because #1 I like girls #2 I find them easier to get along with
and I worked in the shoe department because it happened to be the department that phoned me with a job offer; just because someone seems gay dosent mean he is.....so i'm sticking with the metrosexual thing.

Um, have you not noticed all of the extremely obvious hints of his sexuality throughout Season 6 and Season 7? It's not the fact that he's a dork or speaks in a certain way that makes him seem gay, it's the fact that he's obviously attracted to MEN that makes him seem gay.
If you were to read through the topic, you would see lots of evidence that points to his homosexuality.

The thing is thoes scenes were designed for everyone to form there own opinions on andrew, it's only in your views that he is gay, where as mine I think he's streight, but cant help but acting the way he does, I know a few guys who display thoes actions towards other guys but are streight.
Everyone has there own opinion and should express it.
And as you just said in your previous post, you have yet to finish watching ALL of Angel, and have yet to see Andrew with thoes other girls.

If you were to read BakaTulip's post, you'd realize that those two girls were probably just his slayers, which makes a lot of sense if you think about. Even if they really were his dates, I still wouldn't be too convinced. I know that everyone's entitled to share their own opinions, and I respect that. It's just that there's too much evidence to say otherwise, and I feel the need to debate. That short scene in Angel isn't going to negate everything else we've seen in Buffy, Season 8 included. Besides... I doubt COMPLETELY straight males have crushes on their partners in crime, ignore lesbian couples making out on sofas, or admire men's "Viggo Mortenson pectorals". Well, maybe that last one, but I stick to my argument XD

I'm pretty sure he's straight. The guy is just sensitive, and the fact that he has no real friends in the world, only amplifies that sensitivity. The kid probably had over protective parents, and his only real understanding of life came from watching Star Wars and Dragonball Z episodes.
I'm making that guess because Andrew is very childlike and naive, and he's always trying to pit his situation into the tight confines of the fictional universes that he always draws his "experience" from.
The guy isn't getting all googly eyed over the girls because he needs a best friend, someone he can count on and have watch his back, the problem is that none of the guys in the show think of him anymore than an annoyance, and so he overcompensates in a pitiful attempt to gain acceptance. And in his warped view, everytime he gets shot down it's because he's not trying hard enough, so he keeps coming back stronger.
You can't throw sexuality on a sexually immature character/person. It helps when you think of Andrew as a child, which he pretty much is.

I would have to agree with RazorGod, even if thoes two girls were his slayers, he choose to go out with them, showing that he does have an interest in girls, I think he's slowly maturing, some people are less mature than others and it takes longer for them to mature.

RazorGod The guy isn't getting all googly eyed over the girls because he needs a best friend, someone he can count on and have watch his back Since when did the desire for a good friend completely obliterate sexual desire? It's a physical thing, and friendlessness isn't going to change that. Back in the day, I was extraordinarily shy. However, it didn't stop me from having crushes, even though I always knew that what I really needed was friends. Isn't that the same for most lonely people? Loneliness isn't going to castrate anyone, and definitely not cause them to fantasize about the opposite sex when they're supposedly straight. And why is it so hard to believe that he isn't getting googly eyed over the girls just because he simply does not have an attraction to them? Why does it have to do with his maturity level? I know he's comparable to a child, but not so much that he can be compared to one that hasn't hit puberty yet. He's an adult, and I highly doubt his behaviour has anything to do with his upbringing (well, most of the sexual behaviour, at least). Silent Pulse I would have to agree with RazorGod, even if thoes two girls were his slayers, he choose to go out with them, showing that he does have an interest in girls, I think he's slowly maturing, some people are less mature than others and it takes longer for them to mature. Just because he refers to those girls as his dates doesn't necessarily mean they're actually going out, especially if they're his slayers. I mean, I call my girlfriends "dates" all the time, but it's more of a playful thing, and I really have no desire to actually go out with those girls, or any girls, for that matter. Now, I can totally understand how that scene gave you and tons of other people the impression that he was "turning straight", and hey-- I might have been convinced too if he didn't continue to show signs of his sexuality afterwards. Also, I am completely aware that sensitivity does not equal homosexuality. It's not the sensitivity of Andrew that gives it away for me, it's the fact that he obviously pays more attention to men than women. By the way, you've yet to explain his little crush on Warren. Being a lonely geek will definitely not turn you to the gay side when you're originally straight. I don't think that's how it works.

tashasan Since when did the desire for a good friend completely obliterate sexual desire? It's a physical thing, and friendlessness isn't going to change that. My entire argument is based on Andrews lack of maturity and his childlike nature. (Of which there is AMPLE evidence of.)Andrew's character is basically at a stage where he isn't interested in girls yet, but rather his prime concern is filling the friendship void. Very few guys will admit this, but all boys have a stage where it's all about "cartoons, toys, comics, and your best buds" (the formula could be different from guy to guy, maybe it was "bicycles, video games, hanging at the mall and your buds" for some guys. But not every guy alive has a dominate sexual ulterior motive. And some guys aren't interested in sex at all...doesn't make them gay. Quote: Back in the day, I was extraordinarily shy. However, it didn't stop me from having crushes, even though I always knew that what I really needed was friends. Isn't that the same for most lonely people? Loneliness isn't going to castrate anyone, and definitely not cause them to fantasize about the opposite sex when they're supposedly straight. Sexual maturity, like any other maturity, is something that you come into, your environment can hamper that development- like any other form development. Lonlieness doesn't castrate people, but an overbearing set of parents can definately set mental maturity back a few notches. I knew a few kids in High School whose parent's didn't let them do hardly anything that nomral high schoolers were doing, and as a result they acted like ten year olds (everything was about Transformers and Gobots and girls weren't even mentioned. And I know this first hand, because it was my clique.) ...because mentally they hadn't developed past that point and it left them standing apart from the social scene left to band together in their own little cliques. Quote: And why is it so hard to believe that he isn't getting googly eyed over the girls just because he simply does not have an attraction to them? Why does it have to do with his maturity level? Direct those same questions at your own argument. Personally, I think people are too quick to take someone and try to paint a stereotype onto them by the way they talk, dress or act. Especially when all you have is stereotypical behaviour as evidence. Quote: I know he's comparable to a child, but not so much that he can be compared to one that hasn't hit puberty yet. Sexuality is NOT synonimous with puberty. I was the first in my class to noticeably hit puberty, and it was years later before I contemplated my sexuality. Or even cared one way about the opposite sex. Quote: He's an adult, and I highly doubt his behaviour has anything to do with his upbringing (well, most of the sexual behaviour, at least). Everyone's behaviour is somehow reflective of the environment you were brought up in, it's basic psychology. He may physically be an adult, but mentally he is not.... Sexuality isn't defined by age or puberty. Quote: Just because he refers to those girls as his dates doesn't necessarily mean they're actually going out, especially if they're his slayers. It doesn't mean they aren't. Quote: Now, I can totally understand how that scene gave you and tons of other people the impression that he was "turning straight" Assuming that he isn't straight in the first place, you mean. Quote: , and hey-- I might have been convinced too if he didn't continue to show signs of his sexuality afterwards. Such as? Quote: It's not the sensitivity of Andrew that gives it away for me, it's the fact that he obviously pays more attention to men than women. Which doesn't automatically translate to being homosexual. I've tried to explain that boys of Andrew's maturity level aren't neccesarily motivated by sexuality. But rather if Andrew was more concerned with being accepted as "one of the guys" or gain some form of acceptance with them, then he would not only pay more attention to the guys, but try and impress them or garner their acceptance in anyway he could. Quote: By the way, you've yet to explain his little crush on Warren. Being a lonely geek will definitely not turn you to the gay side when you're originally straight. I don't think that's how it works. Crush? I haven't seen anything, in regards to Warren, that says that Andrew has a crush on Warren. Yeah, he's always talking to Jonathon about Warren, but that's a matter of trying to be superior to Jonathon in the geek heirarchy. A way for Andrew to feel more important to the leader of his group, when Jonathon tells Andrew that Warren doesn't care about either of them. Try and also keep in mind, that I'm not speaking out of phase. I'm a male and I know a little soemthing about male mental development- especially having been very much like Andrew until I left home.

I suppose I'm probably not going to win this debate, seeing as you're connecting your reasoning to your own personal experiences, and I'm not too bright on that subject. You make very interesting, and very reasonable points, but I still stand convinced that Andrew is gay, or at least not completely straight. How about we just agree to disagree, and see how Andrew's character unfolds during Season 8. As for hints of his sexuality (or immaturity, whichever way we see it), the Season 8 comic continues to show them. Link!RazorGod Crush? I haven't seen anything, in regards to Warren, that says that Andrew has a crush on Warren. Yeah, he's always talking to Jonathon about Warren, but that's a matter of trying to be superior to Jonathon in the geek heirarchy. A way for Andrew to feel more important to the leader of his group, when Jonathon tells Andrew that Warren doesn't care about either of them. True, I'm sure Andrew did want to feel like he was more handy of supervillain to Warren, but it was actually much more than that. In the episode "Seeing Red", Warren fights Buffy and is defeated, resulting in him blasting away into the night sky, only to leave Jonathan and Andrew to the cops (even though Andrew could have left with Warren if he was more careful with his jet pack). Later, you'll see Andrew and Jonathan being arrested, tears forming in Andrew's eyes as he says, "How could he do that to me? He promised we'd be together. He was just using me. He never really loved --" he then catches himself hastily before saying "hanging out with us." Now, what you said was probably true as well, but it was clearly implied that Warren seduced Andrew with promises of love and togetherness in order to keep Andrew on his side. It must have worked, because he was with Warren all the way when it came to him using the orbs of Nezzla'khan to hurt innocent people, including Buffy. He even cheered him on, in fact. There had to be more to Andrew's feelings towards Warren than admiration and hero-worship if he could respond positively to Warren's particular brand of manipulation.

tashasan How about we just agree to disagree, and see how Andrew's character unfolds during Season 8. Fair enough, honestly I never even considered that Andrew might be gay before I joined this guild.... Quote: True, I'm sure Andrew did want to feel like he was more handy of supervillain to Warren, but it was actually much more than that. I'm not convinced, but like you said, I'll agree to disagree with you on this one. He never really loved --" he then catches himself hastily before saying "hanging out with us." People always hastily correct themselves when they catch how something that they are about to say is gonna come out in the Buffyverse. If we wanna pick apart scenes, I could just as easily bring up the second to the last episode, End of Days, Andrew and Anya go raid the local hospital in order to get supplies to patch up the potentials who Caleb blew up. Upon notcing Oxygen tanks, Anyay mentions that they aren't of any use, unless for soemthing really big, and then they could shove 'em down it's throat like in Jaws. Andrew just stares and Anya, mouth on the floor and says to her "You are the perfect woman...." and then starts trying to get to know her. The reason why I can't see Andrew as a sexually mature person, is that he pretty much stands in awe of anyone who gives him the time of day. I just don't think we see enough of Andrew to know for sure. There are a lot of "What If's" that fit his character. (As I think we are both proving right now...) I wonder if Joss has ever answered the question definitively........might be worth trying to remember if I ever see Joss at a con again.... Quote: Now, what you said was probably true as well, but it was clearly implied that Warren seduced Andrew with promises of love and togetherness in order to keep Andrew on his side. Of course, it's also likely- given Andrew's character- that he is just being over dramatic. I'm sure Warren was using Andrew, and I'm sure Warren played their friendship up to the fullest...especially with Warren's control issues and Andrew's naivity. I guess it could go either way, but there is still the fact that Andrew doesn't actually show any real signs of sexual maturity....or any maturity for that matter. Maybe if I were gay, I might understand better, but....wait, this can't take me anywhre I wanna go. wink (I just made a joke at my expense, you better have giggled at least.)

Andrew just stares and Anya, mouth on the floor and says to her "You are the perfect woman...." and then starts trying to get to know her. Good point. That little scene -did- start a little fanbase for Andrew and Anya as a couple. But anyways, yeah, it all depends on how one looks at it, as with most things. Touché. RazorGod I wonder if Joss has ever answered the question definitively........might be worth trying to remember if I ever see Joss at a con again.... God, seriously. This whole debate made me realize how incredibly confusing of a character Andrew really is. I really hope they play him out to be more than just comic relief, because now I'm really intrigued. As for cons, ugh. I could have gone to Comic-Con this year, but it's taking place while I'm on vacation. Y'know, I have a feeling that he might be there, mostly because it's like, one of the biggest comic book conventions in the country, and the Buffy comic just premiered recently. I could have brought the subject up, let alone MEET him. Bah. RazorGod People always hastily correct themselves when they catch how something that they are about to say is gonna come out in the Buffyverse. Well, I think the reason he corrected himself so quickly is because, yes, he knew it sounded wrong, and he was trying to protect the fact that he was in more than a platonic friendship with Warren. That seems far more likely than him stopping mid-sentence just because he was being overly dramatic. I know what you mean, but I don't think that was the case. He seemed more defensive. RazorGod Of course, it's also likely- given Andrew's character- that he is just being over dramatic. I'm sure Warren was using Andrew, and I'm sure Warren played their friendship up to the fullest...especially with Warren's control issues and Andrew's naivity. Oh snap. I never really thought about it that way. However, reducing it to being overly dramatic, is, well, overly simplistic. I believe there had to be some basis behind those words besides a supposedly strong friendship with Warren. One doesn't exaggerate that much without some truth. As you said, it could go either way, and I'm leaning towards my side, but... the very possibility hurts the fangirl inside of me. Probably because it makes sense. I have to read fanfiction now T AT RazorGod Maybe if I were gay, I might understand better, but....wait, this can't take me anywhre I wanna go. icon_wink.gif (I just made a joke at my expense, you better have giggled at least.) Is a smile okay? On a final note, I guess all we can say right now in regards to Andrew's sexuality is "we'll see". 3nodding

Okay guys, Andrew is gay. It's quite blatant:
JONATHAN: Guys, I'm ready. I need you to hold hands.
ANDREW: With each other?
WARREN: Well, you know what homophobia really means about you, don't you?
+++
WARREN: Is that --
JONATHAN: Spike.
ANDREW: He is *so* cool... (catching himself) And, I mean, the girl is hot too.
Speaking as someone who is a lesbian, before I was out, I used to randomly say guys (usually unattractive guys) were hot to throw my friends off the possibility of thinking I wasn't straight.
+++
ANDREW: How could he do this to me? He promised we'd be together. He was just using me. He never really loved -- (catching himself) -- hanging out with us.
+++
ANDREW: (emotional) It's you. It's really you! My therapist thought I was holding onto false hope, but... I knew you'd come back. You're like... you're like Gandalf the White, resurrected from the pit of the Balrog, more beautiful than ever.
+++
ANDREW: Spike! O mio dio!
(he hugs Spike tightly)
ANDREW: E come un sogno incantevole. What are you doing here?
This translates as: Oh my god, it's like a sweet dream. ---
Also, simply because he went out with the girls, doesn't mean he was dating them. I went out with a male friend of mine once, and I'm gay. Doesn't mean I was attracted to him, also many gay men hang out with women.
Characters only catch themselves in the Buffyverse when they have a secret to hide. "Patrolling... erm... petroleum" Buffy's hiding that she's the slayer.
"Love... hanging out with us," he's covering that he's gay.
Plus if you see him in the comics there is a scene where is SURROUNDED by girls in their underwear and states that he's bored out of his mind.
