"Ask all you want dear lady. I am full of answers." Rinzen said smiling broadly. Valery reminded him of someone he use to know and it was pleasant to see dark elves again despite the fact that they had never really gotten alone well together. With this whole ordeal perhaps there could be a new beginings for their people.

Kahlan butted in.

I apologize for interrupting, but I have a question for you. As a matter of fact, I have many of them.

There was a long silence.

But let's get back to the point. Answer me this...How is it that the humans attacked us at such a secure location? And why is it that you just so happened to be there when we needed help.

Kahlan unstrapped her armor and lifted up her tunic, showing them the once fatal wound.

As you can see...your follower, Mollie, just so happened be in the right place when I needed help. Why is that?

Kahlan kept her hand on her sword just in case.

But now...for the most important question...Where were you all this time, you light elves? We thought you to be dead.

Rinzen looked calmly at Kahlan and then sat back studying them. "I'll answer your last question first. All the fullblooded light elves that lived here and were present on this contenant did become masacured and exterminated. However some light elves were visiting family on the contentant to the West of here. That or those with half blood in them ran and escaped there. Since then we have been gathering strength to take back the land that was once ours."

The lord paused to let this information sink in. "I had a large number of my family killed in that hanus act all those years ago dear lady and would like to pervent anything like it happening again. We heard about the councle that you two were going to through our espionage and desided to see what would happen. Mollie insisted on going for her intuition told her something bad would happen and I have known her long enough to trust her in such cases."

He pushed out of his chair and walked to a table with a mad on it and some other diagrams. "As for why or how they would attack you in such a manner...I can only guess that they fear the dark elves for their strength in number. I do not know why they did so in such a bold and...in my oppinion idiotic manner." He looked at them both as some food was brough in by someone. Before anyone could touch the food however Mollie came forth and tested each plate for poisons. She then went back to her post silently.

((To J_e_z: Well the humans suddenly attacked the dark elves, and Kahlan and Valery managed to flee-but Kahlan was badly wounded. An elf (regular light one, not dark) named Mollie came and helped her. Kahlan and Valery are now in the elven camp dining with the lord, and asking him a few questions))
Valery nodded, not truly noticing the food put in front of her. She simply spoke up saying, "I know it must have been hard for you, M'lord, to loose family, especially since both elves and dark elves live so long. I am quite young for a dark elf, and I myself lost a family member quite dear to me when I was but a child." She nodded once more before saying, "Now...I believe my question was answered in your story. Carry on."

I see...I apologize for being so suspicious of you, but you can't blame me. Too many times have I been betrayed or tricked, and I won't let anything stand in my way of protecting Valery. Thank you for answering my questions, and once again, I apologize for getting out of hand.

Kahlan bowed slightly, then turned to Valery and smiled. When she smiled back, Kahlan felt as if her heart were going to drop out of her chest.

Anyway...I'm sure my princess is thinking the same thought I am right now, and that is: Will you ally with us against the humans?

Rinzen smiled once more and nodded. "Without a doubt. You are propibly the best allies we could find." He then looked at Mollie motioning her forward to join the group. "I know you have already met Mollie but she is one of the best generals we have and I would not go anywhere without her." Mollie lowered her eyes at such praise. "My lord thinks too highly of me." Rinzen chuckled a bit and then shook his head. "Now...what to do now is the question."

Valery nodded slightly, but a frown managed to crease her delicate features, "I believe an alliance would be most fitting, but my father gave me strict orders to give every race a fair chance aswell-I must return their soon to find any other possible allies." The frown dissipated, and she said, "Although I see no problem with more than one race to ally with-and I would be most pleased to have you and the other elves on our side."

I agree...we should take any opportunity in which we can gain allies. The problem is that we will be frowned upon if we join with any organization of humans, even if they are from Noro, and in my opinion, I don't trust the orcs either. If you don't mind me asking, mi'lord, have you any allies yourself. I mean, seeing that you were in seclusion for so long, and all.

Kahlan waited patiently, but continually stole glances at Valery.

Valery nodded approvingly at Kahlan's question. She herself had not thought to ask that, and was quite glad that Kahlan had had the sense to.

((i'm waiting for rhina to post, but while i'm waiting, i might as well post a little background!))

Kahlan had been Valery's bodyguard all her life. Where ever Valery was to go, it was Kahlan's job to follow. If there had happened to be some sort of attack or assassination attempt, Kahlan was to shield Valery from danger for however long her life lasted. In these years, Kahlan and Valery had become the best of friends, but soon (at about the age of thirteen) Kahlan had mustered up feelings for Valery that no one could even imagine. Kahlan didn't see this as her job, but more like her destiny. Someday, Kahlan would tell Valery how she felt, but now wasn't the appropriate time.

Korgath wandered around Noro. He was taking in the scenery as he watched people go about the daily buisiness. I must gain her trust....or this war will never end.... he thought to himself.

Rinzen shook his head. "Only a few animals and you know how reliable they are. Thats why we don't have them here in camp with us. Other then that we have only our troops. We were hoping to find allies in those others that suffered from the last war. That is why we were on our way to the councel when Mollie found you." He looked at Mollie as someone whispered to her ear about something before she left silently. Now what could be going on...

Mollie took a few troops with her as she left camp to see if the report was accurate. An Orc was wandering Noro and might be in search of allies. If this was true then she would have to see if he was trust wrothy enough to introduce him to her lord.

Valery nodded in agreeance, "Yes, they are a valuable thing." She looked down to the table in silence, but spoke up once more. "I...I wish no more wars. My father suffered terribly in the last one also-I don't want to see it happen again! I must find as many allies as possible, and stop this war from happening." Silent once more, she cupped her face in her hands, unchecked tears running down her face. "That...is all...I can ask for."

Kahlan put her hand on Valery's shoulder. It saddened her to see Valery like this. She spoked to Valery in their private way of conversing.

Don't worry Val. We will find out a way soon enough. I promise you, on my life, that I will not stop until we have reached your goal of peace. Please don't cry...

She lightly squeezed the shoulder as a sign of comfort.
