Kenrick easily pushed open the hatch, and sunlight spilled in upon them, him ascending the remainder of the stairs to emerge into the daylit ruins.

Damon climbed up after him, squinting as he stepped into the sunlight. "So how is it that you can go out?"

"Power," he stated bluntly, "by age and sheer force of will, I am able to go into the light. It doesn't even scathe me," the words were almost wondering, as if he himself were curious why the last were so, "though if I stay in it too long, like any human would, I get a bit of a burn," he led them out of the ruins, throuhg the dazzling light of day, ears twitching, the sounds they were picking up leading him towards the city.

"Impressive" Damon stated lightly. Without the blood stone he doubted he'd be more than a pile of ashes out in the sun. Of course he hadn't tried yet. It felt nice to be outside again. As much as the vampire had ejoyed sleeping on something soft he had grown used to the outdoors in the ten years he'd been awake. Before that however, he could only remember darkness.
((Sorry my posts have been so blah lately. I just found out that we're moving from the home where we've lived for 9 years so I'm a tad stressed. sweatdrop ))

Damon nodded west and started hat way himself. The poor vampire was still mildly out of it after waking up so early. "Are you looking for something or just checking to see how much it's all changed?"

Damon nodded. He was curious as well, truth be told. Vaugely he wondered if that coffee shop he'd liked so much would still be there.

They walked for a while, before making it to a main road, and he turned to follow it in the direction of the city, which was again becoming familiar. He could see it in the distance, he could almost hear the roaring of the cars...
The city was something that Kenrick was very well-adjusted to, and as he aged, it was something he grew to love, rather than many other older Vampires he knew, who scorned it and viewed it as something that was destroying a home that was theirs first.
He viewed it as a congregation of meals. Like a buffet, with pretty lights.

Damon smiled as they closed in on the city. The cars were a little different and some new buildings had been erected, but for the most part it had remained the same. Cheerfully he started to walk a little faster.
The younger vampire had always been happier when around others, preferring to be alone only on occasion. Returning to the place where he'd spent so much time made him excited. Not only that, but with so many people finding him would be immensely difficult.
