Lightning cracks...Your hand in mine...The world collapses...we're out of time... Your smile I break...You breathe. I kneel...Tell me this pain is something real... I'd burn it down for one last view...even if it kills me too... A small snort escapes as she finally pulls free from her thoughts, and she turns to meander her way towards the building that she would definitely go inside today. However, this rather well put together intention was paused by a figure standing at the end of the bridge where she hadn't expected to see a person.
There was a part of her that was rather pleased that she didn't immediately reach for the guns that were strapped down to her thighs. Progress. She was getting better at not being jumpy and trigger happy.
Like a real person.
They wave and she lifts her hand, giving a rather jaunty return to the gesture. May as well be friendly and not just immediately jump on the whatthehell train. After all, this place was usually abandoned, but not always.
Rain gets conversation distance, and a question is posed. Then, a small snort escapes and she chuckles. "Thank the gods, no," she says dryly. Stuffing one of her hands back into her back pocket, she looks up at the castle around them, then shakes her head. "But I do spend a lot of time here. I live.... ah.... thataway."
It takes her a moment to figure out where she was in the world, and then she points vaguely towards the Dark City. You could sorta see the storm clouds in the distance, which was a rather big giveaway, but at least her pointing wasn't in the absolutely wrong direction this time.
Then, she looks back to the stranger, silver eyes locking on with a raised eyebrow. "What brings you to the Ahlaevor? Can't possibly be the thrilling scenery." Rain grins, tilting her head to the side.

’She's cute. . .’ he muses dismissively as he observes her rather thoroughly. ’and dangerous,’ he adds, admiring her holsters while being thankful she didn’t draw. That doesn’t mean he lets his guard down, considering the nature of the environment, and the fact she travels alone. Still, her friendly rebut is reflected to the best of his ability. As she points towards distant storms, he peers curiously with furrowed brow. It’s kind of far, whether she’s indicating the silhouette of the city beneath the storm clouds. When she asks what brings him to Ahlaevor his cinnabar gaze returns to her and he smiles softly. ”Business, I’m one of the trending for hire types. A private investigator to be most precise,” he admits easily. Simple enough, it was the nature of his business. A believable enough cover, not a lie but only a half truth. ’Ahlaevor,’ he muses, properly identifying the castle. Cementing the prospect that he wasn’t quite where he intends to be. ”Names Kai by the way, Kai Kaladin.” he says, offering his hand to shake. ”What about you, what brings you here?” he asks, propping half closed fists on his hips. As she’d put it, can’t possibly be the thrilling scenery. To be as unimpressed, why spend a lot of time here? Though she doesn’t live here, she lives ambiguously that way. As sweet as he grins, chuckles, and snorts appear, he can’t help but feel mildly unsettled by her subtle appearance. ”Would you mind showing me around the castle, miss spend a lot of time here? he asks, gesturing further into the grounds; walking and talking sounds better than loitering here. Quote: Vision Manipulation: The user has complete control over the vision of oneself and others. They can enhance, reduce or remove them temporarily or permanently, protect them from being overwhelmed, cause target to see things that aren't there or prevent them from seeing things that are, cause/remove sensory ailments, etc. Whether they begin touring the premises, the psion hones his mind in his forte; Perception manipulation. Though it may unsettle her if she notices, he effectively metabolizes an effect that renders him unseen unless one is peering directly at him. There was a more harshly modified variation of this that could make him nigh imperceptible, though he wasn’t trying to breed insanity in anyone so much as he intends to remain guarded; in a land rife with ne'er do wells and the culpable as Arshia had put it. Perhaps the old man should have fed him more names than just Alice. Though in Arshia's defense, the area surrounding the keep was said to be vacated. He hadn't anticipated Arusha would meet many people, certainly not one of the Phantasia crew.; not without paying the Dark City a visit.

Lightning cracks...Your hand in mine...The world collapses...we're out of time... Your smile I break...You breathe. I kneel...Tell me this pain is something real... I'd burn it down for one last view...even if it kills me too... Rain watches him, amusement lifting in her expression at his answer. Her grin only seems to spread as he introduces himself. Taking his hand easily, she shakes firmly, careful to make sure that the contact only lasted to her gloves and the count of three. It wouldn't do to have her static being a problem today. That storm lingering in her skin was becoming quite the problem recently.
"A reply that begs more questions than it answers. How perfectly fascinating of you, Kai. Most call me Rain." Then, sliding her fingertips into her back pockets, she turns, looking around her at the forest, the lake, and the castle in question.
The ancient, abandoned, smelly castle.
She tilts her head to the side, jaggedly cut silver hair moving around her easily before she shrugs. "Maybe dumpy old castles are my idea of a perfectly good vacation spot," she quips. Then, her grin spreads once more across amused features as she looks to him, raising an eyebrow.
"But no. You could call it the 'family business', of sorts." Not that her and Shae were related in more than just centuries of almost friendliness. "I promised someone I would keep an eye on her place while she is... indisposed. You may imagine not many people find 'drafty castles' on their list of places to lurk and linger, but also, shenanigans do find themselves happening at the most interesting of times." Rain takes a few steps forward, heading towards the courtyard.
After all, he had propositioned a tour. And when things were curious, who was she to say no to the discovery of it? Not like she wanted to do what she came here for, after all. She wanders slowly, as if she was in no rush, her eyes focusing on the building before them for a moment before drifting back to her company.
"So. Private investigation. Are you on a job here, or just thoroughly lost and confused?" A rather interesting effect was taking place, she decided. She supposed she could blame it on the rather rattled nature of her mind, but for a person who prided themselves on their powers of observation, her mind seemed to be doing a bit of a slide when it came to looking and not looking at him.
How perfectly fascinating... Her grin lingers, gaining a rather mischievous glint. There were many things the thief could be accused of, but this one was rather surface level. She loved her mysteries.

Rain, a simple enough name. A lot easier on the tongue than what he’d called her. He laughs when she quips over her vacation spot, and oddly enough he concurs; silently yet wholeheartedly. Occasionally he craves connection, though most often he craves solitude. Even when the world was silent, sometimes the less observable was still overwhelming to his delicate senses. ”Admirable of you,” he murmurs as he inspects the castle at their leisurely pace. She asks if he’s here on a job, and while he’s sure he’d already answered that question albeit less directly, he’s content to answer it again as his certainty continues to grow. He laughs at the lost and confused bit, shaking his head as he waves a hand dismissively. Closing the fist he’d waved, he brings it to his mouth and gently clears his throat, and his arm falls to sway naturally at his side again. ”Yes and no. Here as in the world, yes. Though I don’t believe my business is in this castle,” he says, pondering whether to be straight about his presence despite not being sword to secrecy or anything like that. Alice, the Nexus, and Sorcha; that was the jist of what he’s afforded as far as intelligence goes. Otherwise, his would-be sword is in the bottom of the keep, and with it something he’s been told to monitor for returned activity. Something dark, though he remains uncertain what. ”Considering I suppose I should thank you for not shooting me. I can imagine the surprise of returning to a family home and being greeted by a stranger,” he says coyly, chasing his words with a nervous chuckle as he scratches at the back of his head. He continues with his perceptive ********, careful not to fall in step behind her. Though this isn’t where he’s headed, he doesn’t mind the sudden detour, especially now that someone familiar has been discovered. Given his lack of knowledge, perhaps she would prove beneficial to overshare what he knows little. Even if he remains limited in conversation to the keep itself. It’s not like he found her approaching the keep itself, now that would be suspect.

Lightning cracks...Your hand in mine...The world collapses...we're out of time... Your smile I break...You breathe. I kneel...Tell me this pain is something real... I'd burn it down for one last view...even if it kills me too... Rain chuckles, her silver gaze returning to the castle before them. She pauses at the door, her hand hovering in that same spot as always. All she had to do was open it, and slip inside. Easy peasy, right? A soft swallow and she curls her fingers into a small fist, away from the door. A pregnant pause in which she lingered in memory, wondering if she was ready to face the reality of the things she'd done, which would remain all too clear on the other side of this very door.
Then, turning on her heel, she grins. "What say you to an exploration of the exterior first, hmm? The view from up top is perhaps the place's best feature, other than an overabundance of watery tart business." Rain speaks in that strangely cheery tone, her friendly exterior snapping into place over so much indecision. For some reason, her heart was pounding.
But rather than pay mind to it, as was her usual, she ignored it, moving instead alongside the edges of the castle, making her way to the stairway on the walls that led to the battlements.
Much more interesting than the inside, she told her overactive brain.
"And it's something of me, that's for sure." She grins. "I am pretty dang certain admirable wouldn't be the word most use." Rain lets her hands hang by her sides, considering the implications of everything.
Here in the world on a job, but perhaps in the wrong castle. Insert hilarious joke there that most wouldn't understand, but some might. Depended on their connection to a particular realm she was thinking of, she supposed.
A small noise was heard in the back of her throat and she speaks softly. "You'd be surprised how often strangers show up in old family homes unannounced around here. Seems to be a matching trend for places like this. If I shot every single one of them, I would quickly run out of patrons." She waves to the castle dismissively. "This place is oddly open to the public, as it is technically a bar and inn, given the owners proclivities for taking care of the odd stray or two."
Then, a small shrug and she starts up the stairs, heading towards the battlements. "But, for the last decade, it's been a bit not so much. Just old ghosts and an infestation of baby dragons." Trea was really going to have to answer for those eggs eventually. Rain was almost sure that Valenti didn't have enough space to hold that many of the little bastards.
They were going to have to be rehomed eventually. Something that was perhaps going to cause tensions between herself and a certain slithering annoyance she hadn't been thinking about recently.
Maybe Alexis had a point about Rain's ability to start wars with abandon.

”Sure,” he complies without protest. Initially, he’d considered asking if she was okay. Though her words were enough to compensate for her hesitation. Most people took much longer than him to process their thoughts, and he’d worked hard to become as patient as he is today. He continues to keep pace as they detour to the stairway, and up it. Her modesty and mild humility do not go unnoticed, though he merely quirks a brow curiously despite the urge to inquire as to which word most would use to describe her. Perhaps he’d ask around sometime should he venture into more densely populated areas. She affirms Arshia’s vague warning, albeit indirectly. He chortles, shaking his head dismissively at the prospect of serving abhorrent wretches. Not that he enjoys being pandered to himself. Not so long as he’s capable of managing on his own just fine. He might not have been able to walk when he was born, but he could talk, and as soon as he could walk, he’d rapidly grown independent. Even at the cost of essentially alienating himself, more severely than merely being a b*****d. She shrugs, concluding the place has been like this for about ten years, and that its only current inhabitants are ghosts and a litter of dragons? He gasps mildly in shock, his eyes widening at her in disbelief. He hadn’t anticipated starting a menagerie, though he’d already acquired one exotic pet. Adding a dragon to his collection would be insanely priceless. ”That’s wild if I’m being honest. Perhaps I could convince you to acquire one, name your price. One of the dragons that is,” he says, specifying to ensure there was no confusion; he had no use for ghosts beyond their lingering knowledge. As if his hands weren’t full raising a damn displacer beast. She was getting big too, recently enough surpassing the halfway point of her maturity. It was expensive, though he’s glad he went out of his way to have her spay early on. Otherwise, she’d be growing rapidly more aggressive anytime now, anticipating her first heat cycle. ”I don’t have any experience with handling them, though I’m distantly related to a dragon if you believe it. Not that it translates to much for me aside from some cool ancestry,” he says, vaguely referring to his lack of anything relative to despite his diverse family; him being the odd one out as far as mana and magics are concerned.

Lightning cracks...Your hand in mine...The world collapses...we're out of time... Your smile I break...You breathe. I kneel...Tell me this pain is something real... I'd burn it down for one last view...even if it kills me too... Wandering up the steps took an odd amount of focus. Not to mention her lungs were already complaining about it. They weren't nearly as steep as the ones at the Phantasia, so Rain was feeling a little grumpy about the effort it was taking to not wheeze out loud, as if her illness had taken on a life of it's own and had decided that messing with her perception of herself was it's favorite outlet.
So when he responded, she couldn't help but hold up one finger, rather focused on the idea of not letting her breathing get as ragged as it felt, and perhaps not throwing up form the experience. However, once she reaches the top, she groans lightly, placing her hands just above her hips before bending over slightly, looking disgusted.
At some point, she really had to be getting better than this.
Then, huffing out a breath, she looks up to the sky and speaks in a rather normal tone, contrary to everything seeming not normal with how she was acting. "Honestly I'd have you just take one in the night. They're not mine. Don't belong to anyone, and selling them feels like a bit more audacity than I usually have in me." She flaps one hand as if to dispel the idea.
Then, wandering towards the wall that overlooked the area, she peers over it, continuing. "Take two really. Or a whole gaggle. This place definitely doesn't have the room for them. They grow hellishly slow, so we have plenty of time to figure some things out, but they'll get rather... big. And that's unfortunate." Not quite the word she wanted to use there, but she supposed being polite in new company was something she was working on.
A small roll of her eyes and she folds her arms over her chest, staring moodily at the ship she could see just across the lake. Hovering there like it wasn't the most annoying part of her life to have reminders of her comrades right there all the time. "Though I guess I should warn you that there's a Naga up north who sent me a rather long message claiming they're under his protection, not to be sold, bartered, murdered, or hunted, blah blah blah." She taps her fingers on her bicep, considering as she stares rather moodily at the ship in thought.
There were more eggs down there. She was rather tempted to throw them in the ocean at some point.
Rain chuckles softly and grins, looking back to her companion. "But I haven't honestly listened to him once since moving in, so really, his word is mostly steam at this point."
She lifts one finger, looking rather amused all of a sudden. "And dragons are easy peasy. They mostly raise themselves. Just need food, water, and the occasional manhandling so that they don't get all feral and bite heads off when they start their aggressive phase. Usually those teenage years, so you got a few decades before that noise at least." Rain had a lot of really random knowledge of things that didn't make much sense, given her line of work.
Then, she pauses, considering. "Though.... I suppose knowing Trea maybe these might be other realms' dragons, in which case it's a dice roll on that idea being accurate." After all, that tub of hers went all over the cosmos and timelines willy nilly.

Again, he considers asking whether she’s alright, though her gesture finger suffices. Inevitably she delivers her rebut, to which he grins widely. Free was a whole thing, especially for something so precious and rare. Not that paying mankind has any bearing on the dragons, in which most of the ones he’s heard of would rather horde and tradable valuable for itself; especially gold. Even better she insists he takes mor than one, though she rightly warns him of another force that would proclaim ownership of them, even if vicariously. He briefly reminisces over the archdevil he plays a dangerous game with. ’It’s just a naga,’ he muses dismissively. Which stirs a chuckle from him as she verbally agrees with his unspoken thoughts. He joins her in overlooking the wall, spying on the ship down yonder as she expresses the ease of raising dragons; with respect to their respective natures. Finally, she reveals how intense of a toss up the bunch of them are. He thinks the prospect of interdimensional dragons being tossed into a single sandbox is nothing short of insane, though he is considering traversing planes with his in theory. Considering he’s limited to one, he refuses to label himself any sort of hypocrite. ”Is everything in these parts as foreign and insane, everyone for that matter?” he asks half joking yet entirely serious, chasing his words with a giggle. He wasn’t necessarily accusing her or calling her out, but he wouldn’t go out of his way to convince her not to wear the shoe if it fits. Though he considers himself a special case, he’s certainly no saner than his closest relatives; excluding the Ashiq. Not that he’s that close with his uncle, or his cousins including the heir. ”If you don’t mind, I’ll kill some time here and try my hand at taming one enough to take willingly. Otherwise, I’ll have to sedate it. Unless there’s still a dormant egg lying around overlooked,” he says with a shrug of indifference, knowing well that a dormant egg may or may not be inert. Regardless, he’d have to check out the one’s roaming the premises. He might not be able to identify them intimately by any means, though he has the keenest senses and mind he knows exists. If one of them piqued his interest apart from the rest, he’d run the risk of making it his own. Just as he had with Grau, his displacer cub. This wouldn’t be his first time, and he’s fairly certain it won’t be his last.

Lightning cracks...Your hand in mine...The world collapses...we're out of time... Your smile I break...You breathe. I kneel...Tell me this pain is something real... I'd burn it down for one last view...even if it kills me too... Rain chuckles at his words, shaking her head and looking at him. Amusement quirked one brow on her forehead and she taps her fingertips on her arm. "Oh no. Everyone here is absolutely cracked. Anyone who claims sanity in these parts is absolutely ******** lying." She speaks lightly, then grins rather mischievously.
With a consideration on the thought of the dragons, she nods, gesturing towards the tower to the west. "Silas keeps em in there unless he's out walking the bastards. Dunno how he's been managing that, but honestly I also don't ask." There was really a lot that she tallied in the 'none of her business' category, and most of it seemed things that she should probably make more of her business, when she thought about it hard enough.
She pauses for a moment, then snorts. "If you see a grump a** wandering around in there, white hair, red eyes with the whites blackened, just ignore him. He's not going to be stopping anyone from bonding with the things. He'll just be relieved he gets to kill less rabbits for the menaces." Amusement drifts over her features once more, and then she unfolds her arms, clapping her hands together.
"But. We were on a light tour of the area." She wanders off at that point, ceasing her glaring at the ship. Nice thing about the Ahlaevor is you could pretty much see everything the mountains weren't in the way of.
And who really wanted to see Illumi anyway?
Gesturing to the east, she grins. "Pile of rubble you see over there is good ol' Kraithos. Been destroyed a time or two, but somehow the people there still stay anyway. Home to a compilation of buildings we call End of the World." She chuckles. "s**t ale. Questionable stew. Really good meat skewers. Fairly good lemon bars." A grin spreads and she wanders away from the edge and follows the path of the battlements around slowly.
After all, those stairs sort of kicked her trash a bit.

Kai grimaces, withholding his laughter despite his dark humor. He wasn’t sure if the revelation made him content with his presence. She prescribes to him another that may frequent the castle, a strange looking man named Silas. He quietly appreciates the tip that the man has been feeding the dragons rabbit, that tad of information could prove more helpful than one might give credit. Without his need to, she reminds them that they were on a brief tour. He’d only asked to tour the premises, though he’s thankful for the additional scenic view as she plays tour guide. He releases his technique, relaxing his mind as he trails her twixt battlements. When he identifies the mountains, he follows them parallel to the horizon until he sees it. Beyond the expanse of trees, he sees it, a solemn tower that nearly looks out of place between the forest and the mountains beyond it. His gaze lingers a bit longer than he’d have liked, though he continues observing as he listens. Based on his impression of it, according to Rain’s opinion, he’s almost certain he won’t be visiting End of the World; he certainly won’t be adding it to the top of his list. ”What about that ship across the lake, can I call that family business too?” he asks, resisting his urge to smoke if only because of their proximity, and her labored breathing. At least he’s become oriented enough with his surroundings to affirm his destination, which was almost as enjoyable as the prospect of adopting a dragon. What’s more is he’s learned this castle is essentially an inn, which he assumes must be self service unless the ghosts double as local staff. Regardless, it means if nowhere else has he a space to occupy as a base of operations; a place to lay his head at night. Whether the ghosts occupying the castle would be of any annoyance or concern was a whole other consideration, one he’d worry about only when he had to, if even.

Lightning cracks...Your hand in mine...The world collapses...we're out of time... Your smile I break...You breathe. I kneel...Tell me this pain is something real... I'd burn it down for one last view...even if it kills me too... Her silver gaze moves back to the ship as he references it. A small chuckle and she lands her hands on the nearest parapet, head tilting to the side "The Vengeance. Used to be an intra-realm sea-and-sky vessel. These days... she hasn't moved in a long time, anyway. Haunted as ******** and twice as annoying. Also where those dragons came from, believe it or not." Then, she considers. "But like... less quirky haunted than this place."
Then, a small frown. "Yanno I just realized it might just be the lake and not the buildings that are haunted. Weird thought." The idea rested a little uneasy in her. Shaking her head to clear her mind of that particular train of questions, she lets her eyes travel over more of the lake.
"Ah. Odd tower out there on the water is called the Obelisk. Haven't quite figured out why it's here, but I'm sure it'll cause problems eventually. Sings at night sometimes. Mighty weird, all things considered." Rain considers that a moment. Maybe that's where the ghosts came from. Weird pillar in the middle of a lake that had a woman prone to drowning folks before asking questions.
Stranger things had happened, she supposed.
A blink and she chuckles. "Out beyond those mountains in the north is Illumi. City of Light. Where that Naga I was talking about lives. Never actually been there, but I've been told it's just the right amount of unsettling to make vacations awkward. Killer views though. People come there from all over the realms." She continues her walk of the battlements, her eyes seeming to cast straight over the Keep.
After all, if she didn't think about it, maybe it wouldn't stick straight in her weak spots that Alice had been bossy about her leaving the place well enough alone. Rain wasn't great at that, all things considered.

”Wicked,” he murmured. He’d kill for a vessel described as such, though a ship typically requires a crew. She makes the subtle correlation that perhaps the hauntings were tied to the water more so than the structures found in it. A curiosity that only grows traction as he notices the obelisk. Judging by the way she talks about it, she seems none the wiser. Though not wise she was smart, insightful or intuitive in the least. The most intriguing bit is the singing, not a common trait of an obelisk. ”Considering their purpose, you’re probably more right than you realize. Unless it’s just a rather large mimic,” he says, as if such a creature was universally known; they had dragons, why not mimics? She points out Illumi and pointedly remarks that’s where the naga resides. Far for someone claiming stakes anything beyond their perception and reach. Still, he heeds her vicarious warnings, and places Illumi on his mental list right beneath End of the World. ”These are some gnarly battlements too. The architecture feels both familiar and foreign,” he says, reminiscing briefly of Predator’s Keep; and with it his mother. As harsh as it would be to admit aloud, he’s rather content his home world was destroyed, and with it his throne. It was liberating in the darkest way, considering the fallout thereof. Some of their people, their region was spared. Though that was following an invasion less than a year prior. They suffered surmountable casualties, not to mention those segregated on their fiefdom on a differing continent. ”Thanks by the way. I only intended to bother for a tour of the grounds, though you’ve don’t me a great deal better. Though considering the nature of the beast, is there anywhere around here that isn’t unsettling for a vacation?” he asks as he tucks his fingers into his pockets, leaving his thumbs poking through the belt loops nearest each on either side.

Lightning cracks...Your hand in mine...The world collapses...we're out of time... Your smile I break...You breathe. I kneel...Tell me this pain is something real... I'd burn it down for one last view...even if it kills me too... Rain grins, unable to help herself. The place was pretty neat, if you liked drafty castles. She wasn't a grand ol' fan, that was for sure. She liked places a little more warm. A little more homey. Sure, the Phantasia had it's quirks, but it at least didn't have ghosts slipping through the cracks waking you up a the crack of dawn with giggles.
Giggles. Who would even be okay with that unsettling business first thing in the morning?
Though, she supposed Shae would be the one person that ghosts were afraid of, end of the day. She considers that a moment, her eyes focusing blankly on the mountains in the distance.
Then, a shake of her head and she locks her pupilless gaze back on him, tilting her head to the side. "It's no problem. Inside the Ahlaevor is easy. Bar. Tables. Kitchen. Rooms. A person can find their way easily through there." She grins, lifting one finger. "The view from up here though. Nothing to be compared."
That and she still couldn't go inside the Ahlaevor, apparently.
His question of a vacation spot that was worth it, however, that question lingered in her mind and she grins before pointing off to the west. "Straight that way to the ocean. Place called Land's End. Gorgeous gardens. Breathtaking forests. Awe inspiring beaches. Cool water, warm sand types. And incredible caves with stained glass set in the walls." She boasts the place up, her eyes focused on him.
Sure, she hadn't been there in over ten years. But she was sure the place was the same as it always was. Things in Valenti seemed to be like a time capsule sometimes.
So she grins and wanders that direction on the walls of the Ahlaevor, slipping her hands into her back pockets. "Definitely my favorite vacation spot. And... staffed by bots rather than people. Fridge that can read your hearts desire. Very neat. Very settling. Calming even. Garden is full of pixies, but they're the nice kind, luckily. Less mischief, more flowers and joy spreading." She chuckles, looking up at the sky.
She needed to work on getting the clouds out from the Dark City. Eventually, it would be nice to have a clear sky like this there. Then she wouldn't have to use that portal thing just to get a breath of sunshine in her system.

He’s reassured concerning the castle and its amenities, and initially the same is true as she points; until she says Land’s End. End of the World, Land’s End; he’s beginning to think that perhaps this world follows the trend of those like the one he was born on. His work doesn’t entail him traveling to the fringes of this world, even if he ventures into the Nexus, he doesn’t need to go as far; the door to the Nexus is behind the library about the Dark city. His greatest lead regarding that last name he was given, though that one was at the bottom of the priorities list. ”Sounds nice,” he says, grinning softly as he crosses his arms over his chest. When she mentions their staffing, he looks at her with wide eyes and raised brows. A sense of dread gnaws at the back of his mind, and he recalls the invasion at Predator’s Keep vicariously. He hadn’t been born yet, though his mother had managed to escape unscathed, and ultimately had him in secrecy briefly before vanishing. ”I’ll keep that in mind,” he says as his expression softens and he grins nervously, averting his gaze ahead once more; though staring at the ground some feet ahead of his stride. When he looks at Rain again, she’s looking at the sky. He looks up as well, curious as to what she’s intrigued or distracted by. Though to him it’s just a sky, nothing special. ”I suppose I should at least eat something while I’m here, even if I don’t spend the night tonight. Would you like to join me?” he asks flatly; plainly. He’s not coming onto her nor asking her out, or if he was it was platonic in intent. It wasn’t often he shared a meal with another mortal soul, though he never shies from the opportunity. Especially when it’s as perfect as not being crowded, whether they were as immediately insightful as her kindness begs. Of course, he wonders what else he might learn over prolonged conversation; food and drink was merely complimentary.

Lightning cracks...Your hand in mine...The world collapses...we're out of time... Your smile I break...You breathe. I kneel...Tell me this pain is something real... I'd burn it down for one last view...even if it kills me too... She looks down from her thoughts in the clouds when he makes the offer of a shared meal. Consideration passed over her features, and she looks around the place they were. Maybe... if she didn't go through the front door?
She looks at the spot where the main castle connects to the back wall and she considers. The passageway there was still present, and it wasn't as daunting as the double doors that led into the main Ahlaevor. She wouldn't have to think about the way that Shae had grouched at her as soon as she entered in the front doors that way.
Maybe, the memories would be lessened there.
A chuckle and she shakes her head. "Yanno why not? Nicho is always crabbing about how I don't eat enough. Maybe eating with a person will send me home with good news for once." She grins, placing her hands behind her head, linking her fingers together before wandering towards that place where the passage lay.
"C'mon. I'll show you a secret." Barely a secret, really. As long as you were exploring staircases, you were apt to find it. It was no secret passage. Just a strange door at the top of a lonely staircase next to a coal chute that led to the best brooding spot in the place.
Wandering to the door that connected the battlements to the main part of the castle, she opens it, heading inside and down the stairs. It would lead straight to the kitchens.
It was much easier than the front door.
Guess the thief part of her never rested.
