The flowing crest of the warrior's helm bobbed as he nodded. He'd forgotten about the processing required; his own information was quite a lot older than most still active. "Yeah. Was here last about that job I mentioned. Quick warning, if ya don't remember: the group I'm with ain't well-liked in cities. People get excited about it. Wouldn't mention the name here."
The Ice-blade melted entirely as the temperature rose the further they progressed underground. Fuast shook his hand off, flicking the moisture from his gauntlet before it set. Rust was a concern of anyone that wore so much metal; there were few exceptions. That hate's getting further away, but that's mostly the elevator. Goin' off to the... left? Yeah. We ain't seen the last of that one.
As the elevator stopped abruptly, he bent his knees to absorb the shock. The lights illuminated little of his face as he stepped off. "They still ain't fixed that landing, huh? Funding's still getting funneled out of public works and into military dev. Oh, well. It'll make getting a decent weapon easier."

"Guess it's just me doing this, then.." He sighed. He was surprised by the sudden halt of the elevator, and recoiled much more than Fuast.
When they stepped out, they seemed to be in a run-down metal bunker. Pipes lined the ceiling, and there wasn't a soul in sight. On the far end of the rectangular room was a door, cracked open.
"Is this the right stop?" Vinan asked. "Seems kinda.. Abandoned."

'Makes sense,' Jahev replied. 'Not many people would want to enter a city caring more about military might than it's own people.' 'Still, stay on your toes. No people doesn't necessarily mean no eyes... or ears, for that matter.'

"Well, this is immigration inprocessing. Doesn't get used so much, anymore. We got more undead than we got breathers, now-a-days. Ain't many comin' in as haven't been here before." He waved for his companions to follow, starting forward.
Fuast looked around, taking the darkness in. It had been some time since he'd first been here, but it hadn't changed much. There had been less cobwebs when he'd been processed, but that was about it. It was neither a cheerful nor an amusing place to spend time. The whole room smelled musty; he doubted the janitors came down much.
It didn't take long to reach the door. The large man eased it open...

The next room had blood smeared across the ground. Not a large amount, and mostly just in one large stain on the floor. Upon the sight of it Vinan gagged slightly. "Was that.. There before?" Upon looking at it a little more he realized. "Wait.. It's fresh.. It's still sort of.. A puddle." He walked up and hesitantly dipped two fingers in it. He looked at his fingertips, now with blood on them. "Fresh.. Definitely." A small ice-blade formed in his hand. "Be careful.." He then took a couple steps forwards, where a metal desk connected to the blood puddle. He glanced over.. "A corpse. Missing an arm, several parts of skin torn off.." He grew sick, as he spoke.

'... Not sure that an immigrant processing facility should have this,' Jahev replied to Vinan, also examining the blood with far less disgust and more intrigue. What could've done this...? A monster or monstrous creature was viable. But then the city might be on a lock-down, mightn't it? A ferocious serial killer then? But he couldn't think how strong they'd have to be to do that... An unfortunate accident with something mechanical? Unless it was an automaton, it would be here, though...

A brow raised beneath the tall man's helm, his mouth tightening as he took in the scene. It didn't strike him as a professional job; more wild than most were capable of. The corpse wasn't decayed enough to be the work of an Atropal, for which he was deeply thankful. It took months to clear the stench out when one got anywhere near those. "Undead could do this. There's more than zombies creepin' 'round out there. Most of the really dangerous kind wouldn't leave evidence lying around. A ghoul or a mohrg might have pulled this one; they're usually smarter than the normal ones."
Lifting the metal table slightly, he began to wrench a leg one way, then another. Eventually, the support snapped off under Fuast's considerable strength. That done, he set it down until he had another off. He hefted his twin cudgels with a grim smile. These would do until something better came along.
Closing his eyes for a moment, the armored figure concentrated upon his curses. One of the mages he'd killed had attempted to torment him with the knowledge that the undead were always coming for him. It had the side-effect of allowing him to sense them, though; it came in handy on occasion. Opening his eyes, he started in the direction of the stairs, off to the side. The gate didn't last long against him, and quickly bent around his bulk. "Let's move on, for now. Keep an eye out for the shadows. ...Starting to wish we had your unstable friend following us, Jahev. Don't think we'd have to watch out for more than him behind us."

"It wasn't undead.. You can tell by the wounds. Undead don't usually rip whole limbs off. And the skin tears are too clean.. Might've been a smart one.. But.. The smart ones don't usually kill so savagely." He took a deep breath. "I had hoped I wouldn't have to deal with this stuff." Stepping into the next room was a sort of class-like room. Obviously the testing room. There was more blood in here, but not as much. There were signs of a struggle, such as knocked over desks. On the far side of the room was an elevator. ---------------- Nis had climbed to the top of the wall. He jumped off, landing on a roof, not far below. He began to hastily making his way down, landing in a small alleyway. Immediately he noticed a paper on the wall. "What is..?"

'So... We're definitely dealing with someone who's a savage killer...' Jahev muttered. 'Perhaps a bomber... but then there'd be explosion marks... So someone with enough strength to rip people apart or who is willing to cut them clean apart.'

Fuast shrugged. Forensic science wasn't his forte beyond simply tracking the creatures. "Maybe the ones you've met. The smarter ones can develop personality; preferences and tendancies. Makes 'em much more dangerous. Still, hope you're right. I'm not feelin' any undead, but that doesn't mean as much as it could..."
Entering the room behind Vinan, he took this in, as well. His instincts were telling him that there had been a forcible entry here. Perhaps armed, perhaps in numbers. Whatever it is, here's hopin' that the city hasn't gone entirely to pot since I left. Wouldn't be too surprising, but the curses usually don't do this when I'm not in... ...There's more people than me that Miss Fortune's got a crush on, I'd wager.
The armored hulk stepped cautiously upon the elevator, not trusting his weight to it yet...

"But.. The smarter ones are ones who've lived morally correct. Why would they kill these..?" When Fuast stepped on the elevator he stopped, and followed. It immediately rose up, and afterwards they found themselves in another building. This one was much nicer. In fact it almost looked like a ballroom. A man, who was sitting at a desk, turned around. He had brown hair, blue eyes, and was wearing a suit. "Hello. New citizens?" He asked with a smile. "Sorry about how ugly it is down there. Can't get the Council to donate anything to fix it up."

'If they're smarter, and they develop these so-called personalities...' Jahev wondered as he joined them on the elevator, 'I wonder what happened to peeve them off enough to kill...'
He almost smiled sympathetically under his mask, then remembered he was wearing a mask. Oh. 'Budget cuts that bad, huh?' he asked.
