i've never even seen them for sale over here, i think they're what Jack Nicholson takes Michelle Pfeiffer a basket of in the Witches of Eastwick.

I haven't either.. my mom says Jenni gave them to her. I wonder where Jenni got them?

I found out that in Homer's Odyssey, when his men are wanting to stay and eat lotus and not leave, they're referring to persimmons. 4laugh

Quick update on the pregnancy: We had an ultrasound earlier this week and tried to find out gender, but the umbilical cord was in the way. I don't think this one wants to be discovered yet! (I joked with Jason it's either a shy girl or a stubborn boy! But that's kind of gender stereotypical of me.. besides, Jade is shy AND stubborn! rofl )

I went in to the hospital this morning at 7am, right when they opened, for a 3-hour glucose test (which turned out to be 4 hours after checking in and waiting for the results of the fasting blood test before being given the glucose drink.) I had to go 14 hours without eating, and got a little dizzy, but it wasn't as bad as I expected it to be. And they drew blood 4 times and I sat in the waiting room reading and doing Sudoku, but Sudoku made the time go by more quickly than reading did!

This is all because my initial glucose screening test on Tuesday was high, meaning I might have gestational diabetes, so they're doing further tests. Hopefully I don't actually have it because I've read up on several sites about all the problems it can cause down the road!

Gestational diabetes wasn't that bad.. I had it previously (not this time... so far) It wasn't a dramatic change, but I was told to watch my diet and limit carbs. (yes, carbs, not just sugar) I no longer drink soda like I did then (I only have one or two a week now) and like I said, so far I haven't had it this pregnancy and I have been screened for it twice.

In some cases it is bad enough that insulin, or drug treatment is used, but I think it is not very common.

Don't fear! They know how to handle it!

Thanks Bip! It's encouraging to know you've been through it and didn't have too much of a problem.

This baby craves the sweets though! Especially chocolate, and now that Easter stuff is out..there are Cadbury Creme Eggs! crying Oh, and Cokes. I used to not be able to finish a Coke by myself, but now they taste so good! I don't have them often, but I can tell already that avoiding the sugars even more will be tough. Carbs I'll see about. Oh doh! We just bought a new loaf of bread and instead of our usual honey 7 grain wheat, we got white. lol stare

Got a call today saying my second round of blood tests were all normal! Cadbury Creme Eggs, here I come!! 4laugh

No, actually, I've been trying to eat healthier because at my last appointment I'd gained 12 pounds in a month, and I'm almost as big as I was full term with Jade already. Today I ate cottage cheese with cling peaches, raisin bran with a banana cut up in it, passionfruit juice, and fresh vegetable soup I boiled. Yeah, I also had a leftover slice of pizza hut cheesy bites pizza, plus some leftover pineapple fried rice from this weekend, but I avoided the girlscout cookies and chocolates! lol

There ya go! Moderation is the key.

I must say, I was worried around Valentines. The last of the chocolate has disappeared here, finally. Funny thing is, I really am not a chocolate lover, but I tell you I couldn't keep myself away from it!

I got a heart shaped box of chocolates from Hubby and one from my sis. And the first one was gone that day redface The second one left this world the next day. Fortunately they weren't terribly large, but still.

And talk about heartburn!!! gonk

This baby really craves the chocolates! Did I say that already? I'm sure I did! At first I told Jason if he got me anything for VDay, I'd want a heart shaped box of chocolates, but that idea was snuffed out when I realized I'd have to share it with Jade! razz I don't want to share! rofl

Oh, and I've been getting a lot of heartburn too, especially if I don't eat often, or at night when I'm laying down. I try to take generic Pepcid AC for it, and it sometimes helps.. or calcium tums, but I heard stuff about how calcium can make it worse later, so I'm a little hesitant about those.

My doc recommended the calcium carbonate. (tums) I have the Kirkland brand and the Target brand. They seem to work just as well, and I also get a bit extra calcium.

My sister-in-law Andrea announced today at her youngest son Adam's 2nd birthday party that she's pregnant again. She was due with her other one right around now (the very end of March) and it's thrilling to hear she's pregnant again! And she's actually more pregnant than she thought; by the ultrasound, she got pregnant again soon after her late miscarriage in October, but only found out recently.
