"Really? A fire?" She asked as she stood up to clean her plates and cup out of the table. That didn't stop her from talking as she moved around to do the dishes. "I know of them. But then again, I know of almost everyone on this island." That was part of her job, after all. Couldn't count on Gaston to take care of all the paper work involving new arrival to the island. "But still, that is all very strange. There's been an unusual amount of fire this year. That police officer also got her house burnt down a season or two ago. Someone set it on fire, no one found out who it was. Do you think we have a pyroman on the island, mister Weber?" Yes, she was curious about all that, but at the same time, she was avoiding the subject of the man's neice. No one wanted to have to talk about thigns like that.

People could gibt hurt oder killedt. Ztis Isalnd is nice aber.. ve dont have ein fire schtation und.. if somevone ist goingt around und doingt ztis.. " Hans shook his head he didnt want to think about it.
"Die only reason vhy i ztought ist vas foul play vith die Tvins ist ztat ist vas kalt as Holle outside und die smell auf gasoline vas potent im die burnt ruins." Hans said gently. "I am nein scientist aber ist raisedt ein few flags." Hans added gently.

The old woman looked at Hansel for a few moment, blinking. He had a rather thick accent, but this was the first sentence she had trouble to understand. After a good five seconds of silence, she finally understood what he meant, or at least hopped so. "Yes, it was the same thing with the officer. Someone poured gasoline on her house and... well, it's gone now. I heard she had a few friends rebuild it, however." That was the nice thing about a small town like this, people helping each other out. Something you would only rarely see in the city. "But yes, we are lacking firemen. We do have some volunteers (NPC), but there's only so much they can do without the proper training and equipment." She walked back to the kitchen table, this time with two cups of tea. One was for Hans, obviously. "So, tell me, mister Weber. What do you do for a living?"

"Ve schould varn people zten." Hans said as he took a sip of tea. Oh it was delicious! "Danke." He said as he pointed to it. He had to take a moment before thinking of what he did do all day. "I cook und clean alot. Valk mein dog Abel. Help Mein niece study.. und.." Hans trailed off. Spending alot of time at the Grindhouse was the other thing he was going to say but he didnt want to upset the old woman.. or get caned. "Noztingt really. I spendt ein bit vorking out.. i schouldt gibt ein job to occupy mein time.. aber.. i do nicht need die money. Family vealth ztat mein Mutter left me, und ztat her Grozvater left her.. und so on. Ztats vhy die military fit so vell.. for ein time." Hans added gently.

The old lady laugh at Hansel apparent awkwad situation. Was he trying to find things he could be doing in order to not look lazy? That was rather cute. "Well Hansel, if you have that much free time on your hands, would you mind helping an old lady every now and then? I had my grandson to take care of the more manual labour, but he is on a honeymoon right now and I have no idea when he'll be back." How long had Yoakim been gone? Almost half a year... and she didn't expected him nor the Vatonage girl to be back before at least an other season or two. Young love was charming, but really annoying for an old lady who needed a slave someone to do the more physical work. "I would cook you a meal everytime. An old lady like me likes company... not that I don't have any, dealing with that mayor of ours all day long..."

"I kould use to gibt out auf die hause more, und i vould not mindt helpingt you." Hans said as he became serious. "Ist ztere anyztingt else i schould do today?" Hans asked her. What else would this White day date/salve trade entail?
"Und may i ask? Vhat ist vith die Mayor?" Hans asked honestly.

"Good then. Concider yourself hired." She said in between two laughs. There were still more thigns to be done around the house, but all of them could wait an other day. Why making him do everything in one day when he had just accepted to come back later to finish it. It wasn't like it was urgent or anything like that, anyway. "What's with the mayor? He's a selfish spoiled crybaby with a brain the size of a walnut, that's what is up with him" She replied with obvious irritation in her voice.

Hans nodded in agreement to being hired and finished up his tea. He laughed lightly when the old woman described the Mayor. "Maybe ve schouldt overztrow him und run die island oursevles?" Hans chuckled lightly, joking of course. "Vhy does he own all die vild animals?

The woman simply shrugged at Hansel's questions. Like if she knew! "Because he is a selfish spoiled crybaby with a brain the size of a walnut?" She said repeating her previous sentence. Really, was there any reason as to why Gaston had so many animals? "He's like a 3 year old with a new toy. He'll play with it because it's all new and exotic for a season, then get bored, throw it in the forest and then get himself an other one." She shook her head in disbelief before taking an other sip of her tea cup, trying to calm herself. "Once, my grandson was outside chopping some wood when suddenly a panther attacked him! If he didn't have an axe then, he would probably be dead by now. He didn't kill the panther tho. Still roaming in the woods." Like most of Gaston's wild beast, that is. "And the worst is that he won't even admit he is doing that, refusing to acknowledge their existence. Trust me, if I could over thrown him, I would! Be he legally own the island, so nothign we can do about it."

Gladice waved at Hansel, refusing his proposal. "No, no, do not worry. It's only a bowl and a cup, I can take care of it myself." She stood up, smiling at him. "Well, I supose this is all for today. I'll see you next week?" She asked him.

He said as he stood up and handed it to her. "I vill ask.. how gut ist dein.. Deustche cookingt? Bratvurst? Sourkraut? Und all ztat?" Hans said with a smile.

The woman took the napkin, checked the phone number, and rewrote it in her own little address book. Much more organized that way. "Dear, I am not a permanant judge at the cooking festival for nothing." She told him laughing. She was one of the best cook on the island and she knew it. The only one who might be better than her was the girl who had won the previous year. She had even made the old woman shad a tear! She had been that good! Oh, whoever you were, Mistery Girl X, whoever you were. "I'll give you a call and I'll be sure to make you some homemade german style cooking." She smiled. It was always good to eat food from back home.

"Dankeschon Fraulien Leblanc. Und Aufveirdersehen." Hans said as he waved goodbye to her. He headed out of the kitchen threw on his boots, bundled back up and headed out of the abode and back to his own. Least he had a nice conversation and a belly full of hot good food. This had been a good day.

This last spring had been very boring for Gladice. Sure, there were a lot of festival and things to do, but all in all, she was lonely and bored in her house, all alone. She had first proposed Yoakim's old room to his brother when she had learned that he was on the island, but he had refused, saying that he already had a better place to stay. The old woman wasn't quite sure what place could be better than her home, where he would have a nice bed, a lard room and free meals everyday, but she did understood how the boy might want some privacy. When you were living on your own for the last, waht? Six years? Well, it wasn't easy to move back to your parent (or grandparent in this case)'s house. She had let it go, being sure to tell him that the offer was still up. She had then proposed Alanis, but the girl wanted to stay close to her mother's and Gladice knew that Judith wasn't close to leave the security of her underground zombie-proof bunker. That woman could be a bit neurotic sometimes. Oh well, she was still spending the days watching some TV, knitting and visiting her Fairy's shrine. She had been going there regularly since stoking day. It was good to fall back into old comfortable habits. Today, however, she was baking.A lot. As much as she would have baked when Yoakim was still living with her. Mostly because she was bored and she loved cooking. She had to keep doing it or else she would turn out to be as bad as half the town! She was still having nightmares of the bug beating everyone at the cooking contest. At least it failed to be on the top three and had disappeared after the competition. She couldn't complain.
