Alien. Maybe you were born with the ears, or maybe you got into a scrape with a large cat and got cut but you cut it too and some of its blood seeped into your wound and when you tried to use some nanogenes to heal the wound, they made an error and fused your DNA with that of the cat's and now you're stuck with cat ears until you can get someone to give you a blood sample and have your entire biochemistry rewritten so you aren't some halfbreed freak and the conflicting DNA patterns will stop changing your looks and personality. (happened to me. Used to have fox ears)
