"Hello?" said Maki. She had heard someone's voice speaking (a man's?). "Hello?" she said again. It sounded louder to herself, but she'd often been told and reprimanded about her lack of volume.

((your fine, dear. I'm a science major so I have a general feel for how physics works biggrin ))
Finally getting out of the hole Maureen landed on the sand and lay there, breathing faster then normal. She looked at the man who had helped her up but before she could thank him he seemed to relapse into a state of shock and curled up on the ground. Pushing herself up onto her knees she got a better look at her wrists. They were black and blue from the fight that night she fought back against the SOYAT. Giving a soft groan she sat back and cradled her wrists against her body and looked at the other people who were up there. The girl she had helped up earlier sat quietly watching the sun climb over the trees and the man named Jimmy was sitting not too far away with his parka in his lap. He seemed stressed about something as well but instead of trying to talk to any of them Maureen just sat with her wrists hidden betwix her legs and abdomen and looked down at the sand.
But upon hearing someone call from the hole she had just come out of Maureen turned and looked back into the hole to talk to whoever had been thrown in there. "Hello. Do you think you could climb up to where we are? If you make it part of the way we can help you get up the rest of the way," she asked down to whoever was in the hole.

"Um...I don't know..." said Maki, crinkling her brow. "Where are you guys? I can't see anything at all..."
She put her hand in her pocket, gripping a piece of glass and smoothing over it with her fingers, feeling the familiar matte texture for comfort. She looked up, craning her neck to try to find someone.

"Yes, it is kinda dark down there," Maureen commented with a small smile. "If you wait a little while the sun should be up over the trees soon and should shine a bit more light down there. Then you can find us and we can help you climb up." She sat back a bit and looked to the sun, trying to calculate how long it would take for it to shine light into the hole. Its been so long since I've seen the sun.... she thought sadly before another thought came to her mind. Turning so she could look back down into the hole she asked, "what is your name?"

"Yes...."agreed Maki with the voice. To the voice's question, she replied, "I'm...um...Maki. It's not my full name, but..." she trailed off. "They just threw me in here...what's your name?"

[Kill them with Kindness] Jimmy glances back at the Maureen talking into the hole and walks over to her, putting his parka on as he walked "Anyone else down there?" He says with a twitch of the eye. The drugs were slowly leaving his system and his supply was running out fast. He reaches for another pill and quickly swallows it, then takes a few steps towards Maureen and peers into the hole. Hopefully not another bloak who's been traumatized.. We ain't running a therapy group here! Jimmy shakes his head and looks around at everyone, feeling quite doubtful about escaping if everyone doesn't have the mental strength to move onundefined [He always gets the job done]

Giving a nod Maureen gave a small smile and replied, "I'm Maureen. It's nice to meet you......well, sorta meet you, Maki. Maybe when you get up here we can have a proper introduction." She gave a soft giggle at the thought before going quiet suddenly as Jimmy came closer. She set her chin on her knees and seemed to almost avoid eye contact with the others who had escaped the hole with her. She was a bit afraid that the men would come back for her and she did not want that at all. In fact, it would be worse than death if they took her back to the underground.

Elina rose as the sun started to glare harshly into her eyes. Turning from the view, she walked back to the hole to stand next to Jimmy. "We're going to get out of this... right? I'm going to try my hardest and..." she coughed slightly, "... and I promise I won't delay you." she forced herself into a smile.

Looking at the other girl who came over by Jimmy Maureen began to feel very uncomfortable. She inched away slightly from the two so she was now sitting by herself with her back to the sun, watching for people to return. Its just a rash fear. They will not come back for you. They have given you up for dead. You are on your own now, she told herself to try and quiet the fear that had crept into her body. Trying to take her mind off of the men on duty she turned to look at the man on the ground having a small fit. He seemed completely harmless but it was the way he was acting that made Maureen think twice about touching him or giving kind words. She looked to the two standing near the hole and asked them with a hint of worry in her voice, "Is he going to be okay?"

[Kill them with Kindness] Jimmy turns his head to Elina and smiles, now realizing that she was catching onto what he thought about her and Dan "You don't have to force yourself to try.. If anyone finds a way out of here, we'll all use it to get out.." Jimmy looks back at Maureen and stands up, then looks at Dan "I don't know..I just got here unexpectedly, like you.. Though I gave him something to relax.. So assuming he doesn't develop an addiction, he'll be alright for now.." [He always gets the job done]

Maureen nodded softly in reply to what Jimmy said and dropped her eyes so she was looking at the ground now. A shyness she never knew before was beginning to show and she blamed it on her recent past. She looked back down at the bruises on her arms and thought about what the man on the ground was going through. If mine was bad for me then I cannot imagine what they did to him..... she thought to herself as she bit her bottom lip.

"Y..yes," said Maki, dropping her eyes to the floor. She sighed again, gently, and dropped her eyes briefly to where she thought the floor was. Pushing herself out of her lying position, she sat up and tried to figure out her surroundings. Standing a bit unsteadily, she put her hands out in front of her, trying to feel out the side of the hole she seemed to be in. She finally bumped into the side of the hole, which seemed to be made out of dirt. She scraped at the side with her hands, trying to get a purchase, but couldn't. Standing there silently for a moment, she wondered what to do. Sticking her hand back into her pocket, she felt a seashell and had an idea. Taking the shell out, she scraped at the wall, hard. The sharp, strong edge of it dug into the dirt quite effectively. Smiling mentally, she scraped harder, forming a narrow, but fairly deep coinslot-like hole in the wall. She made another one, then two more about as high up as her arms could reach. Climbing up so that her feet were in the first two and her hand could grab one of the higher set, she proceeded to scrape another depression. She moved the wrong way, and fell. Wincing, she got up, climbed up again, and tried again. And again, and again, until her arms were shaking hard from strain, and the light seemed a little bigger. "H-h-help..." she called weakly, trying not to fall. Her grip on the notch was getting looser.

[Kill them with Kindness] (Be aware, Jimmy was taken while passed out on the shore after he tired to kill himself. If I'm acting unaffected from the torment caused by the SOYAT, its because whatever they did was done in his sleep)
Jimmy raises an eye to Maureen and bites his upper lip. This isn't good at all. What the fragging hell did the kidnappers do to them? He looks out into the tree's and at the sandy background This is definitely some sort of island.. I need to see whats over there, but the lot of these bloaks look a bit useless... Maureen should stay behind cause the pale girl and the frantic man alone would probably kill each other.. Jimmy rubs his chin while looking at Elina and Dan, then glances towards the hole and runs over to it. He sticks his hand down the hole and grabs onto Maki's shoulder "Hang tight!" Jimmy pulls her up and sets her down near Elina and Maureen, then looks towards the shore "I'm going to see if I can find anything to get us out of this place.. I could use some help but no one has to come with me.." He starts to walks towards the shore in a slow way so who ever wanted to join him could catch up

Maureen turned to watch Jimmy help Maki up onto the sands beside her and the other girl before turning and walking off. He was heading off by himself to look for some way off the island and basically left it open for whoever wanted to go to follow him. "Jimmy, wait!" Maureen called as she got up suddenly and jogged after him. She did not understand why she suddenly snapped out of a timid phase, but upon coming closer and standing next to him she felt it come back. In a hushed but slightly timid voice she said, "I....I think we should stay together.....what if the....the guards come back? What if they find you by yourself? If everyone is going to work together to get off this island then we cannot run the risk of losing those who can fend for themselves like you. Anyways, we could use the numbers, and if we do get into some trouble....they could be the ones to save us." She hated to think about it that way, but it was true. If they did get into trouble then sacrificing the weak would be better then leaving them like sitting ducks and running the risk of coming face to face with the SOYAT guards on the island.

Maki wanted to thank the stranger (she was pretty sure this wasn't Maureen or the other voice), but she was trying hard to catch her breath, sprawled out on the sand. Hearing Maureen call out (oh, so his name was Jimmy), she sat up, wincing a little. "Um..."she said timidly, putting a hand up to her mouth and chewing a fingernail nervously. "It might not be my place but...um...I think Maureen is right...there's safety in numbers...and," she averted her eyes. "We can...split up later if we need to..."
