I believe they said in the game that she took the form of a loved or trusted one untill she could get close enough to infect the person.

So... I would think she would take the form of someone the Ancients would trust...

OR

She probably looks like that sort of human shaped thing in the "experimental goo".

OR

Like the final form she took just before you fight Sephiroth.

Hmm... maybe a political figure of some kind? I'm still not sure how their government works, but I'd imagine them to have some kind of royalty, or maybe an empress or something. Quite a convenient role for Jenova to slip in to, I'd think.

As I recall, the game said that she took the likeness of dead loved ones... but let's discuss this Empress Jenova idea.
If there's an empress there must be an empire. How is the empire faring? How does the average common person feel about the empire?
We can assume that the empress and any advisors would be heavily guarded. Is Jenova somehow controlling the empress or has she replaced her? If she's controlling her, how? Is there someone close to the empress that would help Jenova? If she's replaced the empress, how could she without attracting attention?

I think Empress would be a bit too extravagant for the Ancients, but Queen would be good.

(ooo... pink link.... exclaim )

Yonk ninja

Like I proposed earlier, the main charcter may be a member of the royal family disguised as a soldier. Could it be that they found out about Jenova and had no proof to expose her, so they're working from the outside?

I imagine the Ancients to have a kingdom and not an empire. Empire makes them sound like conqourers (sp?) and not like settlers.

Also I imagine that if she were to take the place of the queen or control from the queen's position, that she would kill the queen and take her form.

I'll post more on my thoughts on the ancient government after i do my exams, so you won't see anything untill tue or wed. (by then I should have my political science down pat too wink )

Yeah, the Cetra seem more of a "High Council" type to me. But as for JENOVA's form, I don't know much. I think that a loved one. Because no one gets close to politicians.

Hey Bob, you've got a cat on your face. wink

Anyway, since I'm in about eighty government classes right now, I'm kinda rich with ideas on this subject. I was thinking that the Cetra would have a pretty weak central government in the first place. A queen, perhaps, but one who only really utilizes her power in emergency situations. Otherwise, the Cetra only have minor inter-clan conflicts, and don't have much need for a queen.
Jenova, of course, thinks differently.
She'd probably start with a bunch of annoying propaganda, and maybe a parade like Edea's in FFVIII, and everyone'd be like, "What the hell's up with her? She never used to be this way." But none of them really sees any reason to believe the main party's claims that the queen has actually been replaced by a shapeshifting mutant alien bent on wiping out their civilization and turning them all into monsters. They aren't at all prepared for civil war, and aren't about to overthrow their new dictator just because she likes to be the center of attention.
And most of the Cetra don't make the connection between their queen's strange behavior, the frighteningly common disappearances amongst themselves, and the growing monster population.

Oh, yeah, and we have to turn Ajit into the game's eye-catcher big city. Lost of enormous seashell buildings, hundreds of NPCs on-screen at once, and a more "alive" remix of You Can Hear the Cries of the Planet. smile

After I finish my assignments I can get working on a composition of the city, since it's all orgainc shapes, I really won't have a problem drawing it. 3nodding

I wouls like to see more concept art submitted though. *wink wink, nudge nudge* wink

Hey all, I've got good news! And it has nothing to do with Geico. wink
If you'd like, I think I can take on the programming after all. If I can get the Irrlicht engine to work with my compiler, I can build and test the game on my powerful Linux workstation, then move the code to a Windows machine and compile it again. Irrlicht, to my great joy, automatically determines the best rendering method, so I don't have to change code between OpenGL and DirectX. biggrin
I'll be working on some generalized data handling for Earthbound 3D (my little brother's idea), but if I end up doing this, it won't be much of a stretch to change "HP:230" to "2300 HP"
