How is that "Sabbatic Witchcraft"? Isn't Sabbatic an initiatory craft?

Also I hate the name. Poor choice, that man.

Is Viridarium Umbris as tongue in cheek as I hope it is?

Daniel Schulke became the Magister of the Cultus Sabbati after Chumbley died. Chumbley wrote a few books instructing the reader on different aspects of Sabbatic Witchcraft. Daniel Schulke wrote the Vidirarium Umbris: The Pleasure Garden of Shadows in the same vein. I think Mr. Schulke has another book out entitled Ars Philtron: Concerning the Aqueous Cunning of the Potion and Its Praxis in the Green Arte Magical.

Essentially the book is about the Herbology and such of the Cultus Sabbati and the different myths that it entails, such as that of Cain. A book of plant magic really.

And how do you mean as tongue and cheek as you hope?

Sabbatic witchcraft is not necessarily "initiatory". The Cultus Sabbati which is a group that practices Sabbatic Witchcraft (I think the ONLY group...) is initiatory. Many persons of the group were unhappy with Chumbley's decision to write grimoires of their practices. Luckily for them that they are so damned expensive >>

I'm reading Viridarium Umbris by Schulke; it's lovely.

I love that book. Fantastically written. Have you read anything else concerning Sabbatic Witchcraft?

As of now, I have Ars Philtron in my possession as well as two of Chumbley's works. I don't subscribe to the Cultus Sabbati paradigm or feel particularly drawn to their mythos, but I can definitely appreciate it for its beauty and dramatic flair. Inspiring stuff!

Like actual copies?

I love the Azoetia the most. It is very beautiful and The Point is just ah. No words. I really want to get my hands on The ONE: Golden Toad.

Of course not! whee

I don't think we'll be seeing Toad anytime soon, or possibly ever, TBPH. Xoanon caught on too quick.

I'm about halfway through the stories in H.P. Lovecraft's Bloodcurdling Tales of Horror and Macabre.

Now I understand what everyone's talking about.

I'm currently reading A History of Celibacy by Elizabeth Abbott. It's written from a specific religion, but it is largely Western in focus at this point, so there's a lot about early Christianity and how celibacy was used as a tool. It's really interesting as reflective reading both on our culture and on how our individual paths treat sex.
