Filosofem
As can be seen from my nick, Im a big Burzum fan. Filosofem is one of the best BM albums ever made.

Other bands:
Immortal
Emperor
Azaghal
Impaled Nazarene
Barathrum
Satanic Warmaster
Behexen
Darkthrone
Dark Funeral
Limbonic Art
Behemoth (the old ones)
Arcturus
Mayhem
Marduk
Bathory (3 first albums)
Satyricon
Aura Noir
Dimmu Borgir (old ones)

Cradle of Filth may sound Black Metal, but for example here in finland CoF is counted basically as "wannabe-black" or "s**t". In Finland the Black Metal scene is so strong, that we don't need any almost-like-theater bands. No offence CoF fans.

well...everyone here understands the case with Cradle of Filth...theyre a band that went to a more different direction with black metal(though once again, like you said, they arent black metal....not anymore.) the thing is, not all bands will always stick to the original sound...though i love true norwegian black metal, music in general would sort of be a little flat if there wasnt any creativity. i admit that CoF is now Epic goth metal, but they were black metal at one point. just a little different by fusing symphonic metal with black metal roots and adding a flavor of goth to it.

It's spelled Darkthrone. Arch Enemy is Gothenburg-metal, and Lamb of God is supposed to be NWOAHM. Dimmu Borgir hasn't been black metal since Stormbl峴.

darkthrone were originally called "DARK THRONE" then they changed it by putting it together to make....DARKTHRONE.

How the hell did that japanese symbol get there? I was writing "Stormblåst", not "Stormbl峴"
Edit: And regardless of what they called themselves earlier, the correct term is to this date Darkthrone.

I love this genre, if not for any other reason than it fuses so seamlessly with other music that seemingly shouldn't be incorporated with it. It shows in my BM tastes. razz

Primordial, Axis of Perdition, The Legion, and In The Woods are my all time favorite BM bands. Whilst I know all of those incorporate another sort of metal into their music, and in some cases, not even metal, they all show the black metal element prominently.

I enjoy listening to Black Metal. Burzum has been in my top list of bands for quite a while now. Yet I don't own many albums since the stores only ever contain Burzum/Aske.
Just finished reading Vargsmal, too. (:
