WellzY The importance has been super-seeded by customisable avatars, yes. Generally when I just see someone with a lot of stuff that I want, I'm just jealouse; really means nothing to me in terms of their 'status'. Any idiot who doesn't shut-up can get some pretty good items. I've lost my train of thought now... god I hate that, and I was all ready to have a b***h as well. crying
But basically, there are a lot of ways to say "Im better than you" on gaia. . . be it by being richer, better dressed, a more frequent poster and all that jazz.

I wonder, do you think lurkers actually just say "lurk" purely to get attention from the people who are talking amiably? I mean, what's the point in announcing your lack of social interaction, if you're trying to keep it down by lurking?

But if you are truly lurking, you wouldnt do that xp The best way to lurk is too not post at all and then if you feel like mixing things up, joining in every once in a while.

I'll justify a good dresser as worth at least some praise, as I've found it's not easy to pick out a very attractive set-up unless you actually put some effort into it. I have a few idea's which I actually might implement soon. Hopefully you'll all likey. 3nodding

The only lurking I would ever be caught doing would be me reading posts to catch up on the conversation before I make my own move.
