Xavier thought for a moment or so before his gaze returned to Dark. "That depends, what type of bridges?" he asked as he twirled a piece of his hair around one of his fingers again.

"Because like a bridge, certain things need support beams to hold them up. If some of the beams snap then the entire structure is weakened. It may still hold up for a while, but eventually the stress put on the remaining beams will cause the entire structure to collapse. When that happens anything being held up by the structure also collapses. you are then left with a pile of rubble and ruin, unless you have the means to make a new structure in it's place."

Xavier thought again for a moment as he started to twirl his hair again. "It seems you're in a bit of a pinch then." he said before glancing at Hope for a moment. "So you use Shade as a replacement to do all the dangerous work to keep yourself safe?" he asked, his curiously burning eyes looking back to Dark.

"It is necessary. Shade possesses power, but he cannot yet fully control it. Nor does he know the full extent of the gift I have given him. He needs to learn how to use it in order to control it. It is dangerous for him to be placed in such situations as the one he is currently walking into, but if he dies I can always find a replacement. He is not indesposable."

Xavier lightly brushed his hair away from his face as he closed his eyes, smiling to himself. "Hmm..maybe to you, but to others," he gestured casually towards Hope then around, meaning Shade's people. "Don't think he's desposable at all."

"What others think serves little purpose to me. I merely needed a vessel to keep the spark ignited and he was the most convenient at the time, but all in all he is still a mortal and eventually he will die. When that happens, I will place the spark into a new vessel. Perhaps the next one will be more permanent." Dark eyes Xavier as if considering something.

Xavier thought that over then chuckled at Dark's stare. "What is it dear fellow, considering someone like me for the job?" he asked, looking amused at the idea as he rested his head in his hand.

"Why not? A dragons redeeming qualities is their long life span and impressive energy reserves. Though this is counterbalanced by their arrogance there is always the chance I can find one who is missing that particular trait. Besides that, they already think they're invincable."
