Kakarotto-san If yiffy art is going to be causing problems whether it's asking for commissions and such, I may consider on banning adult commissions from the guild. After all this is a PG-13 site and there are minors in the guild. I know I sound like an a*****e. But if I see anymore complaints about how so and so won't draw you porn, there will be no yiff commissions ever again. And for you artists, state the kind of art you do CLEARLY so there won't be any of these problems. If you do this kind of art, please put a warning on your commission thread.
Artists should definatly be compleatly clear one what are they are and are not willing to do, but banning adult commissions seems to be taking things a step too far.
There is nothing in the ToS that states people cannot ask for more mature artwork, it just cannot be posted where people on Gaia can see it. You simply not wanting to see people complaining about not getting their way is not a good enough reason. If it was then a lot of things on this guild would be banned.

Also, this being the Sallies Thread this is a haven for those who wish to complain. And I don't see why we have to single out complaints about not getting porn from the various other complaints some of us might find tedious and not worthwhile. I think telling an artist that they can't offer a certain service is a bit unfair and a tad extreme. Especially since the artist Fog was dealing with isn't even a part of this guild...
However, this should set a good example to the artists (at least in the guild). We SHOULD be fairly set on what we will and will not do...to avoid further problems in the future. 3nodding
Now let's all try to settle down and try to get along. This is a place for people to rant, so let's here the troubles of the world now! heart

Went to my Humanities I class and had a lot of fun. We were discussing Plato's Allegory of the Cave, and ended up discussing where to draw the line between normal/tradition and fanatiscism. I said that the Roman Catholic church was a good example of both, because in order to uphold traditions, they fanatically burned the "heretic" Protestants and did many other things.
I just had fun. Just wanted to post that. ^^

Honestly. What's the big deal? I want explicit art, dammit! And since there are quite a lot of artists on Gaia, some of which willing to do art for gold, why should I be denied the chance to get some?
I don't like the fact that this site is PG-13. Not one bit. It means the older people have to deal with idiotic little noobs running around the site making asses of themselves. I'm an adult, and I'm trapped in kiddyland.
The fact that they would make this rule is ridiculous. I honestly don't believe anyone is actively enforcing it, because by now our guild would be shut down if it were so.

The heart of that is that they just don't want you to go into detail about the adult commission you want in the open.
You are still able to ask if an artist is willing to do mature artwork and go over the details in PM, IM or email.
I still want artists to state on their commission pages whether will or will not do such kind of commissions and if they are to direct customers to the proper place to discuss the matter.

It is illegal to make available pornographic materials to minors. This means Gaia would be shut down if they allowed it here. I will be talking with Zanzibar soon about it before any rules are changed or created. Yes, if this is the case, the offsite forums would probably be reopened/created. I could probably make a forum right now if need be. And no I'm not doing this because of you. I apologize if my posts came out too harsh.

I'd say it is still better than the place being compleatly overrun by perverts and sickos. The are just trying to make the place friendly for not just the younger auidance that browses Gaia, but for those of general auidance that doesn't want to view graphic material, not to mention keep parents from filing lawsuits.
It also isn't like we can't have adult conversations, you just need to be mature about it and know where the line is crossed. I in know way feel traped in kiddy-land. Not considering the fact I can do and say whatever I feel outside Gaia, this is not my main hangout.

Alternately, artists and would-be customers could be polite to each other (and ask about commissions in PMs). It bothers me when second-best measures, like banning certain kinds of commissions, have to be put in place just because the best-best ones (people just being decent) has failed. That's a sad statement about the way we treat each other. Also, here's my suggestion: if an artist is charging too much, assuming he has any competition whatsoever that charges less, people who just want artwork and don't need the first guy's signature on it will go to his competitors. Let's pick totally random names and numbers. Let's say Layla Giselle charges $30 for a full-body, pose-and-setting portrait. Let's say also that I think this is too much money, and I'm not willing to pay for it. So if I think Diana Vulpes's artwork is just as good, and she'd do the same kind of work for $20, who am I going to go to? And if 0r0ch1 would only do a commission for money, and Tigrr Wildcat is willing to take a story using her character as payment, (and assuming I still have any creative juices left,) who'd I go to? (ps i did do an art trade with miss wildcat which is why i brought it up) (psps i kind of suck as a story writer, see the horrors on vcl)
