Looking at his companion, he sensed her fear... "Why is Alex so insucure as to allow you to recieve gifts from friends and potential lovers?" Nelphean chuckled, "You think I am playing with your dearest Bastet, and are worried of what damage I might inflict upon her soul. Nailah, you really haven't been listening too what I have been saying all time... All of the women I have ever loved felt the wrath of external forces. I witnessed the demises of many girls who have done nothing wrong, and deserved no such fate."
Nelphean sighed, "Nailah, When will accept me for the creature of love that I am." Nelphean had a somewhat hurt look on his face, but he realised that he could be taking the role of a charmer who has taken offense to his craft. He shook his head, and looked at his palms...
"When I was ten years old, my best friend was murdered in front of me. She was..." Nelphean turned his head towards Nailah... "I still can see her today, and all the ones fell after her." Nelphean's mixed feelings were somewhat apparent, but not distinguisable. "Did you know, that I was inlove with you when we first meet?" Nelphean turned to the piano, and started to play a tune, a very very depressing song.
"Your empathy did not pick it up, and you ran after that man who seemd to be hypnotising you." Nelphean sounded somewhat sour at saying hypnotising, as though he had a hidden meaning. "But life went on, and I was thankful you did not fall under my curse."
"I meet Bastet, and her eyes were wide open, she looked into my soul and brought forth a part of it I had hidden. I smiled upon her, and felt the warmth of her touch, yet had to disapear for a while. I came back here each night, hoping for some guidence, which came in the form of my daughters. They were very inquisitive into my life, and very understanding. They accepted me as the tortured being I am, and allowed me the space I needed to be myself. My daughter even stuck her nose in my affairs for the betterment of me. They see me as a very broken man who has to find his feet, Taria believed that Bastet was able to give me the balance that I needed in order to stand and wage my war against my curse, but even that seems iffy now that death is watching over my soul. I have a devil who wants me dead, and friends who might pay for that..."
Nelphean breathed lighter, "Listen to my words, for they are far more cryptic than they should, I have trouble talking to you humanic beings because you never seem to understand what you can't see. The trees tell me that the darkness that follows me will try to consume me, but I can win if I trust in my heart, an instrument I have used to love many, many unfortunate people..."
"Trust in me, to trust my love to Bastet. Trust in me too give her everything That I can give. Trust in me, to be who I am, an elf who never lies." Nelphean stoped playing the piano, reaching the conclusion of the piece.
((He has an army of Hell that's so purpose is to cause him harm.. He knows what this army looks like, he knows what they can do, and will do if given the oppertunity, he is just very, very angry with existance as a whole, and not very calm... HIs gentle face is a really big front, not a lie, becuase he wants to live these days before the storm as happy as he can. Imagine how you would feel if all of your hell was about to take everything You love away from you, again, for the 58th time. in only 125 years... He can see the mistrust and fear in Nailah's posture, as she tries to convertly find out the information she wants from Mr. Elf. He happened to get angry because he asumed that his 'charmer' persona is being taken in the wrong light.))

Nailah sat there for a while unsure of what to say. "You were in love with me..." she sighed. It didn't make any sense. She was an empath and should have known. She wondered how long the elf had carried this 'love' silently. Then she shook her head. It didn't matter much now, he was Bastet's elf. "I worry about her. She has been through so much and I just want her to be happy Nelphean. I know you can make her happy and my heart rejoices for the both of you." She traced the ivory keys of the piano softly, careful not to hit any of them. "I see why you fear for her, but Bastet is a strong woman. She won't let anything take her if she isn't willing to go. She would fight to the death for anyone in this manor. Herself included." A smile lifted Niah's lips as she saw her friend in her mind. Always ready to defend, Bastet would never let anything take away her newfound happiness. That much Nailah was sure. "We will fight Nelphean. No one in this manor has to battle alone. We're family. And family looks out for each other. What is the nature of the threat?"

"THe nature of the enemy is one that cannot be counter on, she will use every trick she can find, and use every angle she can conjour..." Nelphean shook his head, "Perhaps, Nailah, it is not Bastet I a worried about, but how the devils will... I don't know, I think my luck is up, and I shall die with the weight of all the sins I have commited burdening my soul, trapping me on the lower planes..." Nelphan played another tune, very forlorn, very slow...
"Can you fight a devil?"

"I fought a demon and won. It can be done." she said softly. She listened to Nelphean play and her heart felt heavy. There were so many things she wanted to say to him. She worried about him on occasion and she considered him a dear friend. "She? Is she a true devil or just a acquantaince that holds a grudge? I have to wonder if she's not a woman you hurt Nelphean." She considered for a moment. "Hell hath no fury like that of a woman scorned. So is it true?" She began to play a lighter tune to override his mourning. She thought about all of her sins and wondered briefly how many Nel had committed compared to her.

"I would assume from the horns and scally skin she may have not been lieing to me whan she said she was a Greater Pit Fiend." Nelphean turned his eyes towards Nailah, and continued to play as she did...
"She is not a former lover of mine, nor shall I ever submit to that. I wont even think about what you think the problem is... She is just very angry with me because I wont be her puppet anymore, I have released far too many evils onto the planes than I care to count in her service, and I never intended to bring them here. She escaped her prison without me, but I am contracted to her service. She wants to beat the slave who left her army, and use me as an example towards others who might try to escape her claims as well... BUt the last I remember, they were pretty much slaughtered by that peskey Paladin..." Nelphean laughed, "My old friend killed all my new friends." He shook his head, "Not that they were ever my friends at all..." They did murder Taria's mother... Nelphean released an audiable sigh...
"Did you really think that one of my former lovers has come back for me from beyond the grave in the form of a devil?"

"With you one can never be too sure." Niah laughed softly. Her fingers continued to move gracefully over the ivory keys, the music coming from her very soul. It mixed with Nelphean's and a song so sweet adn touching was born. Niah sighed. "No. She sounds like she is the most evil of creatures. And she seems to have hurt you so many times before." She closed her eyes and let her heart guide her fingers. There was so much she needed to say to Nelphean. So much she wanted to reassure him of. But she couldn't. There was something larger at stake her. She sighed once and said softly, "You've been hurt so many times in the past Nelphean. I...I wish I could take away your pain..."
((so sorry Az...unforeseen circumstances but thanks for waiting.))

"Nailah, so innocent are you..." Nelphean smiled at the music they were making together, "What a beautiful song we can play..."
"Pain is the reminder of why not to fall in love, but the joy before is grand still. I remember everyone I have ever meet, dear Nailah, and I knew from the moment I meet most of them, I would live to see them die, if a blade or claw had not ended my life first. The first lesson in being an elf is accepting that time flows faster for some, and slower for others. Not many elves leave their secluded hideaways and journey into the human world, we are too self-consious of the pain that will ensue after the deaths of those we love. I did not head that call, nor ever run from the slain. They live for all eternity within my soul, forever there to be with me." Nelphean stoped playing, and allowed Nailah to play a solo.
"Sometimes, we have to carry to tune on our own, and allow the world to slip away as we continue forward, awaiting the new horizons, hoping to better know those of the past."
"I regret that I can not wish that my friend had not died, I regret that I can't wish that the harmful things never happened to those I love. The truest pain comes from the knowledge that the lives I made better, with my heart and soul, I cannot bring back... It would end the line of love tht I have spread across the land, it would mean so many would have never know that which I can give them... IT means that I had to watch them be destroyed, it meant that I have to continue to walkt the long and winding road of loneliness, awaiting my return to the place where I feel closest to ecstasy." Nelphean leaned on Nailah, and placed a hand to compliment hers on the piano. His fingers followed hers, and pressed the keys as hers did.
"We sometimes get to live with another that makes our solo, less solo." Nelphean smiled, and returned to playing his tune.
"We have the greatest moment of joy, in the times when our accompanyment is of our chosing, lovingly compining with our own tune." Nelphean suddenly stopped again, "But when the song ends, and we are left alone, should we despair, knowing that from the onset, it could never last." Nelphean gave a weak smile.
"Ke'Nel's mother was murdered by a werewolf when I was 10. This is how much that fiend hates me, she gave me a reminder of the only elfish maiden that ever held my heart long enough to see its brightness. Taria's mother was the last girl I loved on that cursed plane, and Sylphina... Her mother and I almost married, but she was struck down by an arrow aimed at me... A Brother killed his sister... Because I was an elf."

Idalla read carefully the a newspaper she picked up from that area. Hopefully there would be something of her work in it. There was. Front page material in fact, how a man was found dead, his body withered as if he had aged decades within minutes and decayed into dust before the body could be properly examined. Some paramedics said he died of bloodloss in several bite wounds but there was little sign of spilt blood and there is no longer proof to back it up. There is talk of the woman he was with for nearly two hours in the corner and who walked away moments before he was found dead, but links to her. The victim, brother to three who he was sole... provider for...
She slowed a bit while reading those words, and read more how she had made a fatal misjudgement of character in her victim. Yet something was lacking as she read on, empathy. She had lost it somewhere between sating her hunger and panic about being caught. Now she was only satisfied, deeply, that she wasnt suffering that terrible desire.
A little while later, the tone of music caught her attention as she wandered through the building, and had eavesdropped on the conversation between Nailah and Nelphean for some time, just waiting. But she grew bored as was her way and decided to enter clearly, approaching the piano from the other side and circling round them. "Hey, hows it going you two? Hey Nailah, I wanted to say I'm sorry for what happened before." She moved around and put her hand on Nailah's head, tossling her hair with a laugh and moving round the other side. "It wont happen again, I swear." In a joking manner she raised her right hand and put her left across her heart.

Idalla surprised Nelphean, being so... less like the other day... "I see that you have returned to your less hungry self." Nelphean stood, and walked behind Nailah, and wraped his arms about her shoulders, and squeezed her tightly, "I guess we are going to have to finish this discussion at a later date." Nelphean said into her ears, and stood up releasing her.
"I was once told I love every woman with two legs and a pulse, but the nI fell for a ghost... and heavens know what that implies..." Nelphean laughed at his mistold joke... My only two requirements...

Nailah listened to Nelphean and continued to play smiling when he followed her own tune. She felt his words embed themselves deeply in her heart. She knew what it was like. "It hurts when your song is hte only one you hear. The other half of your melody is missing. I felt that pain once. A long time ago. I played alone for a long time. The keys were not loving caressed as they are now. I was upset and angry and my song came out jaded and cynical." She pounded the keyboard for a few moments and then reverted back to the sweet melody. "But deep down inside this song remained. Just waiting...waiting for the right time to come out again. And even though for a while it echoed in an empty room, I still found peace. I had finally healed. And then I found another. One who could join his song with mine." She smiled softly at Nelphean and moved her fingers faster over the keys. "Now I have a home and a family and everyone's song joins with mine. No longer do I play to an empty room." She stopped playing suddenly and simply rested her fingers on the keys. Her hands were curved and ready to play again at any moment but silence reigned. She waited a few beats and then closed her eyes and played once again. "I had forgotten how enjoyable it was. To let all your cares go and play the music that is in your soul." She finished the song and nodded. "Thank you Nelphean. You have given me a wonderful gift. One I thought I had lost." She laid her hand gently on his cheek. "And you too have someone else to complete your song. And it is one of the most beautiful ever played. Play your heart out Nelphean. Go forward and leave regrets behind." She felt his hug and said "I do believe we will." She looked up at Idalla and her eyes dimmed momentarily. She was still a little afraid of her but when Idalla raised her hand in the gesture she couldn't help but grin. "Pleasure to see you again Idalla. I do not wish to speak of it." She waved her hand and said "All has been forgiven and there is no need to dwell on the past." But what if she loses control again.

"You crazy necro you." She stared at Nel with her jokingly evil stare, accusing him of something he probably didnt do. "But that doesnt exactly sound very sincere." Idalla quipped, her eyelids falling to a half squint as she scrutinized Nailah. "Im trying an honest apology here. You want to talk to me here? I thought we were good enough friends before." resting down on the piano, leaning against it, she smiled to herself, still feeling so wonderful from her stolen power and looked back to Nailah. "Oh dont let one attempted killing get between friends. I hear youve done it once or twice as well."

Niah bit her lip and her eyes darkened wiht pain. "Yes...I have." She closed her eyes briefly and sighed. "You're forgiven Idalla. I will not hold one act against you when it was beyond your control completely." She watched her lean against the piano. She idly traced the keys again and looked at her. "You disappeared after it. Where did you run off to?" Niah's mind was working and she dind't like the direction it seemed to be heading. She could lose control again. You have before, her mind pointed out. And next time what will stop her from killing you? Niah squashed the thoughts quickly and focused on something else entirely. The feelings of the manor. Love was a main one. She frantically searched for anything that would keep her mind from getting in and forcing her to listen.

"I was... I slept it off. Nel saw me, I was messed up and perfectly normal. Not every day that I get a knife to the stomach. I guess the shock of it kicked me out of my little... mood. Didnt exactly feel to great afterwards, its all taken care of." A lie. How many would she tell now? But she didnt care anymore, and was already back in full swing of falsehoods. It didnt matter, she did want to be friends with this girl after all. Right now the only thing she really payed attention to was the thourogly filling feeling she got from her feeding.

Niah nodded at Idalla's story. It made sense to her. She too had slept off the attack. She looked at Nelphean and said "Nel you are free to remain or you can leave. There is nothing that will be discussed here that you can't hear. " She looked at Idalla and tilted her head. "Well I'm glad you're back to normal now."
