Jon: I think there may be some wort of dark wizard sending out a curse (or maybe a shaman sending out a hex) to most of the populous causing them to begin Christmas preparation earlier and earlier.
... due to the seemingly random way it gets people I think this may be level based (ex: level 3 sleep.)
Based on my own level it could be based off of multiples of 2,3,4,6, or 8.
Based on my observation of others I expect its one of the lower numbers.
