That makes sense. But you do want to be careful going from hot to cold too fast ~ I heard of a guy who was overheating, and he drank from a chilled water fountain and went into shock.

Hyper is corect. It is what happens when you stay in the hot tub too long. that is why there are warnings about how long to stay in, and why children are generaly not allowed in them, they are too small and they heat up too fast. Your blood pressure rises to the point that you are over working your systems. your body sweats, your heart races(some people have had heart attacks, if you have heart problems talk to your doctor), and you can get dizzy. It is the state that is gone for when you go into a sauna or sweat lodge. Some cultures push it too far on purpose, it is said that you can have dream visions. too risky for me I have kids I need to stick around for and I am not in the best of shape. I quit as soon as I start to sweat. I have also heard of people going in to shock from heatstroke, but I havent yet. it might be the water I drink beforehand. My friend does it all the time, even when she doesn't have a headache. She says its envigorating. eek Burrrrr not me I hate the cold, and get out as soon as I can. And she does the whole body in cold, she likes to jump in the pool after geting out of the hot tub too. exclaim I just dunk my head. All I can say is ask your doctor, don't do it if you are unsure, and with out doubt untill you know how you react Do not do it alone. and don't stay in too long. .........but it works for me, and has been working sence 1981.

Chels-Remember the number of people worrying about them then? Times that by about 23. crying I don't want to scare anyone again!!!!
Not to mention-I do NOT want to have to try that CAT scan again!!!! (They didn't find anything out because my braces interferred) I got SOOOO chlosterphobic that it WASN'T funny.
And my mother thought that it was "a cry for attention" stressed They never figured out what was wrong with me, so she convinced my father that it was the truth.

Never bothers me at all. Then again, all my health problems have kinda fried the part of me that would care about tempurature shocks... soo... sweatdrop

And Tanya- Braces dont interfer with CT or CAT scans... I've had three and I have full braces. Plus, they shouldnt make you closterphobic (sp?). They are very open. Do you mean MRI? They use magnets and the like. (I cant have MRIs anymore- I have metal in my bones now)
