Perhaps at times there is a human so worthy that sacrificing everything is the logical thing to do. But it is hard to say. In general though, I think maybe it would be foolish.
Have you ever acted on thoughts or feelings that you felt were prescient? Like, did you ever not do something because you had a feeling about it?

Yes, I have done something like that and it actually happens to me very often. Like, if I have a gut feeling... I mean a strong one... I probably wont go through with whatever the aspect that i need to do. For example, nowadays... I don't know if you all remember the whole problem with me dating a 21 year old and I was only 16 at the time? Well, I have officially blocked off any communication with him and I refuse to go anywhere near him or have any contact with him whatsoever. The reason is simple; even when I just think of his name I get sick to my stomach and I my body won't let me budge... the gut feeling is so strong that it prevents me from even going on the computer to talk to him. Make sense?

Yes. I have one.
I have had an experience like you did.
I was fourteen, and the last day of grade nine, a boy who had stayed an extra year at the highschool. He was nineteen and was hanging around the anime club with me and my friends a lot. I thought of him as a big brother-type-friend.
The second last day of school, he was helping me before my next day of exams.
Right after school was let out by the last bell, he was talking to me while I was at the computer, he was standing behind me and right before he leaves, he puts a hand on my shoulder and I freeze up. He puts his head next to mine and he tells me that "You know you're really cute, right?"
I was shocked and I couldn't move.
After a bit he let go, walked away a couple steps, and I just say "Thank you" and then he tells me he's sorry for making it so awekward.
I added him on msn, and I talked to him that night, and he asked if I wanted to go out with him.
I told him 'No', because my mom wouldn't approve. Mind you, I hadn't even told her.
I was up all night that night, I really liked him, but I just felt wrong. So at four AM I sent him a message saying I didn't like him that way, but I didn't want to stop being friends with him.
I found out recently that he only wanted to go out with me because I'm "Cute, sweet, and he was a nineteen year old virgin".

Ehm, I think it has to be the one they keep reminding me about: the beetroot story... Apparently I loved that stuff very much, but they made pictures of me when I was eating and I was all purple because of the stuff... O.o
Apparently my baby-poo was very smelly after it as well, so I think that I only got it once... .___.
What's your heart's desire at the moment? ^^
