Huck had lit up a charcoal fire on a grill he found as Seth talked. He whistled low. "Shame how some folks just turn out t' be th' worst people." he said as he cut up some of the big piece of venison. It'd take too long if he didn't . . . and he was a little worried about his stuff being moved by Siff while he was away. He seemed like the kinda person that'd do something like that.

Seth turned away. "The truth is I new Siff when he was my age. One hundred and fifty years ago." He came right out with it. "A curse was placed one him and me but with different effects. We are both illusionist that is why we are connected. One night my parents came into my room and told me how much they loved me and cared for me. The next morning I was on the street in some alley way. I lived that way for a while, hand around tons of different people until Siff found me. His age had changed but I knew he was. He took me in and it was like old times again until I caught onto what he was doing. Best friends are now the worst of enemies...end of story..." He said sadly.

((Roxy I sent you a note about why I did this... although I will add here that I liked your Idea that Seth might feel like he knew Siff without any reason, or knew that the Carnival was once a nice place to be. Just so long as you don't god mod, as I noted, in that sense emotion_awesome ))

(Sorry, everyone)

Seth turned away from the group. "The truth is I don't even know how I got here. One minute I'm on the street and the next...I think...everything is really fuzzy..." He looked down at his hole filled shoes with concern. He was even joined with the notion that his name wasn't really Seth. In fact, he barely knew about himself just small things here and there and that was it. Strange...

"You might have wandered in here... without knowing it. Did you get injured somehow to lose your memories Seth?"

Senna glanced at him. He mentioned that the place was nice at some point. Had he known but could barely remember. Confused, she turned back to making food. Bobby had been quiet for awhile. Since Seth has come back. Seth was a particularly confusing kid, and stood apart from Bobby and Harmony. His rather jumpy mood, and reactions to things. The next moment that Siff sees them she felt that Seth, with his odd and sporadic changes, might actually like the man.

Bobby looked off as the conversation inched along. He couldn't possibly remember anything outside the circus, since the carny-life was all he knew. He didn't have any outside experiences... it's not like he could compare life now to how it would be if Bobby hadn't lived at the carnival at all. The small acrobat thought back on what Senna said about the outside world... and how she mentioned all these things he had never even heard of before. He didn't dare speak of such things now though-- Bobby could never tell when someone was watching. Instead the boy approached Huck who had been working on the food.

"...anything I can help with...?"

Seth shook his head in disappointment. The only injury he had on him was the bullet wound he had received. If he had some kind of other injury would there be a scar or at least a memory of it? How peculiar that his mind was so blank to half of his memories. He hugged himself in deep thought not liking the feeling of this at all. "Senna...what if I'm not the person I claim to be? What if my name's not even Seth? You, Bobby, Harmony, and Huck remember stuff before you guys came here...so...why can't I?"

Masquerade! Paper faces on parade. Masquerade.
_______________________________Hide your face so the world will never find you...

Nathaniel

Accepting the towel with a nod, Nathaniel carefully took the kitten into his now warm embrace. It began purring in it's slumber. Nathaniel cocked his head in amazement. Did he just make this cat purr? Who knew.
Nathaniel's head rose to Grace's face, looking around at what she gestured at. It was interesting how everything here seemed so run down. Didn't they claim to be in business? In fact, Nathaniel's only reason for excusing the "no people" thing was because it had just stormed. Of course there would be no people; that alone shouldn't be a sign of an abandoned circus. Besides, there were workers here. Of course people came. Nathaniel sighed, content with his reasoning and willing his face to swivel back to Grace. Even though his reasoning seemed sound... he still had that doubt in the back of his mind. It bothered him, left a bad taste in his mouth. So he drowned it out with work.

An hour had passed and they had moved from the bears to the lion. Nathaniel took one look at the beast and knew he was in trouble. It must've been his mask. Probably spooked the lion. Nathaniel didn't blame it though; he hated his mask too. Secretly.
So instead of caring for the lion, he cleaned the cage while Grace groomed it. Soon enough, he was sweating. But he wasn't showing his tiredness, nor the fact that moving his arms back and forth to clean was making his shoulders sore. He'd never admit those things.

Grace Groomed the lion and soon, went forth to practice. A very important part about these dangerous creatures was making sure that they were kept obedient and tame. She pet the lion's main and kissed the loveable beast.

"Okay Joe, ring time."

Of course, jumping rings. She turned to Nathaniel and asked him to pick up the rings that hung off of a hook across the lions tent. By this time he was nearly finished cleaning and Grace was very proud of him. She smiled a little in aproval of the work that was done before her in there. He was turning out to be a great kid, but only, Grace thought to herself. "he really doesn't deserve this place, he shouldn't deserve such punishment as to be trapped." Nothing she could say to him, but was hidden in the back of her thought of thoughts. Last thing she wanted was to speak out against stiff, and lose a nice kid like this one, or any of the others who were here.

"I want you to hold the ring for the lion to jump through okay Nathaniel. Need to get some training in before heading on."

Kira found herself waking up with a small purr. In a tent with a woman, lion and the boy she recognized from earlier. At least, it was the same mask. She stretched in the towel and yawned. It felt as though she'd been sleeping for a really long time. A long time to the point that she was both tired again and full of an extreme amount of energy. She could bolt across the room and then take another nap. Instead she stayed in the clean towel from the dirt and straw floors that was being swept around. Every smell, she could smell almost everything. Hear the loud sounds of the broom pushing around the dirt clods and debris. Refusing to meow for attention she hid under the towel and waited for the boy to come back and pick her up. He made her feel loved, comforted and that was odd, since most people. They would rather sick her in a boarding home, or ignore her. It made her feel that, for once she was a person who was loved. Although the irony is that, she is no longer a person. She was a meaningless cat... nine lives of uselessness.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Senna turned to Bobby. He asked to help, well, she really could use it. She nodded to Bobby and held out a bowl filled with onions.
"Could you peal these and clean them off with cool water bobby..."
She took her mind off of Seth for that moment. Senna glanced up to Seth and held out some cabbage that she'd found in one of the shelves.
"Seth, maybe, something happened... and it's best not to remember. But you're name isn't what defines you, it's your actions. I know you're a good kid, and life can be hard, but for now I want you to cut this cabbage."
Maybe she could get both of their minds off of depressing things. She didn't know, she was never put in the position of helping others, she was never really helped herself she felt. She had that one friend, she's had some circus people both abuse her and try to be friends with her for their own benefit. She sighed and kept holding out the cabbages and onions in wait for the two boys.
Nathaniel
Nathaniel was obedient as always. Setting aside his broom, he trotted to the rings that hung on the wall, slipping off their hook and ready to give them to Grace. But that wasn't what she wanted him to do with them. He froze. There was a short moment of terror that arose inside him when Grace spoke those words. H-hold them? He timidly looked down to the rings, then to the lion, Joe. Nathaniel wanted to protest, he really did, but he found himself stuck. He had never disobeyed an adult before. His shoulders slumped just slightly and he took a few steps forward to the center of the room.
It really was a horrible idea. Holding up the ring with two shaky arms, Nathaniel could hear himself breathing against his mask. The pathetic sounds he made echoed against the hard exterior he wore, hidden from Grace. He was sure, however, that the lion knew he was frightened. He hoped it was a kind thing. Fear aside, the ring he held wore on his shoulders. At least my hands are strong. He focused his gaze on his hands for a moment, making sure that the ring was high and vertically poised. He then let go with one hand quickly and gave a thumbs up to Grace.
Seth nodded in agreement to her advice. She was right and he shouldn't dawn on it to much. He smiled when she gave him a job to do. He took the cabbage then took out a knife from the Knife Holder. He missed pulling them out of his mouth but he didn't have his powers to do so. He tried to keep the smile on his face so Senna and the others wouldn't know he was just ordinary. Although, not performing the act was proof enough that he lost his abilities. He began cutting up the cabbage into bits for the dinner that they were going to have together.
Grace took the lion to one about 9 feet from the ring that Nathaniel was holding. She wasn't sure why he seemed so afraid of holding the ring. Especially for Joe, who at times was much better mannered than the bears. Grace held her hand up ready to direct the lion through his rutines. Normally she would have to hold the ring with one hand and direct the lion around the room to follow and jump through it periodically. But this way. Not only would it be giving Nathaniel work, but ease hers a little while introducing him to yet another of the dangerous large creatures that this carnival inhabits.
"Joe never misses the ring Nathaniel, no reason to be afraid... just know that fear agitates him."
On second thought, did she just make things worse. But it was the truth.
"Think of him and treat him as though he's a big respectable cuddly kitten and he'll play the part."
She winked at Nathaniel and proceeded to lead the lion to it, Walking with her hand raised. She snapped her fingers and the lion leapt through the ring without even touching the sides. Quickly, it was already done once. Joe turned to look at Nathaniel with a slight amount of anxiety sensing his feelings.
"Again."
Another snap and the lion turned and ran. All the muscles under the hide of the African lion moved and pulled as Joe hauled himself at a great and wild speed to the ring leaping through it again without effort.
Nathaniel
'Easier said than done' was the first thing that came to Nathaniel's mind. It was difficult to calm down while watching this huge beast lunge it's body towards him. The second thing she said, however, made Nathaniel think. Interesting, he thought softly. He looked carefully at the lion, watching it's every move. It looked like that kitten in the blanket. Just... bigger. Nathaniel hummed with content, understanding what Grace was telling him. That appearance is just another mask. Apparently, calming down was easier done than thought. By the fourth jump, Nathaniel was holding the ring without sweaty palms, watching Joe jump through with awe. He even giggled a bit, excited at it's form and power. Nathaniel was, after all, just a child; things excited him easily. It was becoming a very comfortable experience, being around this lion. And Nathaniel even thought so about Grace. She treated him kindly, something that was rare in his world. Nathaniel already felt a certain fondness for her.
Joe's training was done, and they began packing up and moving on to the ponies. Nathaniel knelt down to the kitten, whom he had decided to name Perrine, and gently picked her up only to find her awake. He gave a coo of happiness at her awakening, bringing her close to him. "Hello there. Feel better?" He stood, scratching her behind the ears. "You have Miss Grace to thank for that." His head rose to Grace. "Actually, I have Miss Grace to thank for that." He stepped towards her, Perrine in arm. "I appreciate all you're doing for me," he whispered, looking quickly down to the kitten. "As does Perrine here." He showed the name off proudly, excited that he got to name something so precious.
As Bobby took the onions and did what Senna instructed, he grinded Seth's words in his head. Memories before the circus? What "before"? At least Seth remembered that he had some kind of life other than this. These thoughts created a kind of resentment in the boy, but Bobby was quickly distracted by the effect the onions had on him once he started pealing.
"Woah, that's-"
The smell quickly filled up the work area and, though it was entirely out of place, the small acrobat started to laugh as his eyes watered up.
Huck looked around when they got onion gassed. A few short moments ago, he was just working on cooking the venison steaks he had put on the grill. Coughing a little bit, he smiled. "Whoo! That's a good onion." he said, wiping his eyes as he tried his best to tend to the venison. After searing the steaks, he took them off the grill and cut them into chewable bits. If there was gonna be a stew going on, he'd at least contribute something to it.
He pulled out his own bowie knife and cut into the steaks. He looked up at Senna and smiled. The more they were talking and hanging out, he actually really got a good glimpse of her. She was really cute. The wings really didn't seem to matter much to him. Then again, the noose-scar around his neck wasn't that much better . . .
Senna glanced around at the others and felt a little out of place. Were they not used to onions or something? She was unaffected by the onions ability to cause people to cry. Then again she's cut and eaten them enough. She currently was working on cutting celery when she turned to Bobby. Of course she hadn't paid much attention to Huck and his steak making, being that she was concerned about getting the kids some stew. Only so much attention can be given, from her at least. She walked over to where Bobby was cutting and set some uncut celery next to him.
"Are you okay with cutting those... Should I do it... since I'm used to it."
Another blunder of the great Scarlet Angel. Well, in her mind at least, even though it probably wasn't that much of a true problem. Not like being trapped there at the Carnival. Nothing could compare to that.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Kira purred, the moment she was scratched behind her ears. She couldn't explain it, how good it felt. Better than getting your back scratched... she had, but for a moment, a little bit of humiliation because she still felt she was human but it was drowned by her purrs. Then she heard Perrine... "Perrine?" She thought, as she tilted her head back still trying to soak up the fine feeling of getting scratched behind her ears. "Perrine isn't my name it's Kira". She let out a mew. "mew" It wasn't going to help unless she wanted to be named /mew/ or /meow/. She sighed Internally, still purring looking back at the masked boy who was giving her so much attention. He didn't even know who she was or how much of a failure she was, and he still gave her this attention.

Grace Smiled and walked up to Nathaniel after brushing off her hands.

"Seems she really likes you. And, if it weren't for you finding her I'm sure I wouldn't have gotten to help her. So she really does have you to thank."

Despite being a healer, and trying to be kind to everyone, she still felt as though she was a horrible person. Not worthy of a friend in the world. Maybe it was Siff's doing that made her feel like that, then again Siff held, not only his own dark secrets but hers as well. She didn't want them to know the things she'd done. Grace put on a fake smile, to cover her thoughts. She really wouldn't have helped that kitten if it weren't for him. Afraid it was just a trick of Siff's, could still be...

"Nathaniel, we should go get something to eat... and then afterwards go clean the rings in the big top for tomorrows show."
